SPIRITUAL WISDOM
CHRISTIANITY
OASIS HAS PROVIDED YOU WITH THIS SPIRITUAL WISDOM STUDY. MOST HAVE
HEARD OF THE PHRASE SPIRITUAL WISDOM ... BUT DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU TOO
CAN POSSESS SPIRITUAL WISDOM? LET US SEEK AND FIND THE TRUTH OF SPIRITUAL WISDOM TOGETHER, SHALL WE?
THE FIRST EPISTLE OF PAUL THE APOSTLE TO THE CORINTHIANS
CHAPTER 2
Glad you’re back
for another edition of Daily Bread. At the end of our last study, Paul was
explaining how those called by God are not people with worldly wisdom, great
strength, or highly respected people of the world.
But look at those
same three things; wisdom, strength and respect; and you’ll notice that the
called of God do possess them, yet in unworldly ways. They have wisdom of
God, they have strength from the power of the
Holy Spirit,
and they have glory in the Lord.
The world is
burdened with competition for these things. It’s become an obsession to be
intellectual, strong and well liked. Is that what God wants from us? Is
anyone who has a worldly abundance of these things any closer to God than
you are? If you’re searching for the godly form of these things to prevail
in your life, then you’re on the right path.
Paul guides us in the right direction with
his good example.
When I came to you, my friends,
I didn’t come declaring the testimony of God
with impressive vocabulary or with great wisdom.
For I purposely didn’t profess to know any thing else
among you,
except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.
And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much
trembling.
And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words
of man's wisdom,
but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
so that you wouldn’t put your Faith in the wisdom of men,
but in the power of God.
Nevertheless we speak wisdom among them that are perfect:
yet not the wisdom of this world,
nor of the princes (rulers) of this world, that come to
nothing,
but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, we speak the
hidden wisdom,
which God ordered before the world for our glory,
which none of the princes of this world knew,
because if they had known it,
they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
But as it is written,
Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,
neither have entered into the heart of man,
the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Isaiah 64:4
Have you noticed
that the word “perfect” in the Bible isn’t used the same way that we use it
today? To be perfect, meant to be complete, or mature in your Faith. So,
Paul’s message is that when someone is firm in their Faith, then they can
understand the wisdom of God, otherwise, it is foolishness to them.
It’s time to
change our thinking from humanly to spiritual now. Everyone has a spirit.
What is your spirit? Your spirit is the part of you that could be called
your emotions or your feelings. Your spirit comes from God.
Ecclesiastes 12:7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was:
and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Isaiah 42:5
Thus saith God the LORD, He that created the heavens,
and stretched them out; He that spread forth the earth,
and that which cometh out of it;
He that giveth breath unto the people upon it,
and spirit to them that walk therein.
Many people think
that the spirit and the soul are the same thing, but, your mind (the soul)
is what controls your spirit. Your mind tells your feelings and emotions to
act and react to things.
Now, since you
have a spirit, and you are one with God, then you have the
Holy Spirit
in you, so, you can understand the spiritual things of God (that would be
the wisdom of God that Paul is talking about). Keep in mind that we are made
in God's image, and He sent the Holy Spirit to teach us truth.
John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the
Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my name,
He shall teach you all things
,
and bring all things to your remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you.
Okay, now back to what Paul was saying about the things that God has
prepared for those who love Him. Man cannot understand those things . . .
