THE EPISTLE OF PAUL THE APOSTLE TO THE GALATIANS

CHAPTER 3

GRACE VS LAW

GRACE VS LAW STUDY ON GRACE VS LAW VERSES WITH GRACE VS LAW TRUTH AND GRACE VS LAW MESSAGE

Glad to have you here again to share more Daily Bread! So far in this letter from Paul weíve found out that someone is trying to lure the Galatians into believing that law and works is the answer to salvation, instead of Faith and Grace. As you may well imagine, the disappointment in Paulís heart is deep because of this. Letís read along as Paul reveals his emotions about this matter to his beloved friends and shows them that they have been tricked.

O foolish Galatians, who has charmed you so, that you stray from the TRUTH? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ has been clearly revealed, crucified among you. This only, I want you to tell me, Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of Faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now made complete by the flesh? Have you suffered so much for nothing? If so, it is still for nothing.

He then, that supplies to you the Spirit (that would be Jesus), and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of Faith? Truly, just as Abraham had Faith in God, and it was credited to him for righteousness. Know this then, that they which are of Faith, are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles through Faith, preached the Gospel to Abraham way back when, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed (Genesis 12:3). So those who believe in Faith are blessed along with Faithful Abraham.

Those who believe in law are under the curse, for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them (Deuteronomy 27:26). But it is evident that no man is justified (saved) by the law in the sight of God, as the scripture says, The just shall live by Faith (Habakkuk 2:4). And the law is not of Faith but scripture says, The man that doeth them shall live in them (Leviticus 18:5). Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us (He took our curse upon Himself): for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree: (Deuteronomy 21:23) that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through Faith. Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man takes away, or adds to it.

Now the promises were made to Abraham and his seed. God didnít say, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And I say this, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot nullify, that it should make the promise of none effect. Because if the inheritance comes from the law, it is no longer of promise: but God did gave it to Abraham by promise.

GRACE VS LAW LESSON WITH GRACE VS LAW EXPLANATION

So what good is the law and what purpose does it serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator (that mediator was Moses, Deuteronomy 5:5). Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid, because if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture has concluded all under sin, that the promise by Faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before Faith came, we were guarded under the law, confined to the Faith which would be made known afterwards. Thatís why the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by Faith.

But now that Faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. Because you are all the children of God by Faith in Christ Jesus. All of you that have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jewish nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

What does all this boil down to? You foolish Galatians, thereís an old way, and a new way.

OLD WAY

NEW WAY

Law

Death

Old Testament

Punishment

Works

Freedom

Life

New Testament

Grace

Faith

Donít forget, the reason why Paul is explaining all this is because someone has convinced these CHRISTIANS that the old way of law and works is the way to go. You may want to remind yourself, whenever you read from the Old Testament that it has been replaced with the New Testament which is the New Covenant.

THE NEW COVENANT

Jesus went to Matthew's house and many followed.  There were a lot of sinners there who sat down to eat with Jesus and His disciples.  When the Pharisees (Religious leaders) saw it, they asked the disciples, Why does Jesus eat with sinners?  Jesus heard, and answered them, "People who are well don't need a doctor, but the sick do.  But you go and figure out what this means:  I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, because I came to call sinners to repentance, not the righteous." (Matthew 9:10-13) Jesus gave us words to ponder when He said "But you go and figure out what this means: I will have mercy, and not sacrifice" ... But what did He mean? Let's find out. Jesus also said ... No man sews a piece of new cloth on an old garment, or the patch will shrink and the tear will be worse. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles or the bottles break and the wine runs out and the bottles are ruined, but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are saved (Matthew 9:14-17). What was Jesus saying? He was teaching of the New Covenant (Testament). You can't have a new game with the same old rules or you'll just have . . . the same old game. He was showing them that in this New Covenant ... Sacrifice is being replaced by Mercy now. What Jesus was saying was, God is putting a new promise into new hearts and both will be saved.

Remember Jeremiah 31:31-34: THE NEW COVENANT. Accept this TRUTH and share it with others.

A Covenant is an agreement between two parties. In this case the agreement was between God and man. It was based on LAW given to the people by God, through Moses. The Old Testament is based on this Old Covenant and the New Testament is the New Covenant.

Did you know that just as the Bible has 66 books, that the book of Isaiah has 66 chapters? In addition, the Bible is divided into two sections, the Old Testament (LAW) and the New Testament (GRACE). The Old Testament has 39 books and the New Testament has 27 books. The book of Isaiah is divided in like manner. The first 39 chapters are based on laws and punishment. The last 27 chapters foretell of the promise of the coming Messiah (Jesus)... Cool huh? Is this just a coincidence or a form of prophecy of the Old Covenant ending and a New Covenant being instituted? Our Father told us in the Bible that we will KNOW that He is God cuz He tells us things that will happen before they occur. Did our Father prophecy, through His servants the prophets, of the coming of this New Testament? ABSOLUTELY ...

In Zechariah 11:7-14 He tells us that He will break His Old Covenant (Old Testament) and even prophesied the timing that the Old Covenant would end and the New Covenant would begin. He said that the Jewish people would consider His worth as ... 30 pieces of silver. (The amount the Jewish Religious leaders paid Judas to betray Jesus) Now that's just too wild. God prophesied through a prophet hundreds of years before it happened. He KNEW the people would trade Him up and even told the exact amount. So, as our Father promised ... He will prove HE is God by keeping us posted as to what will be, by revealing it to the prophets.

GRACE VS LAW INFORMATION WITH GRACE VS LAW MEANING

But our Father did not stop there ... In Jeremiah 31:31-34 ... He said that He will make a NEW Covenant (Testament) and explains what it will be. He said that He would place the LAW within our hearts and forgive all of our sins and remember the sins no more. Now this does NOT mean that the Law is of no effect, rather it is saying that when you believe in Jesus, God will place the laws within your heart. It is confirmed that He had performed this act in the New Covenant (Testament) in Hebrews 8:6-8 ... It says that God found the Old Covenant to possess faults and that Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant (Testament) Think of it this way ... The Old Covenant is kinda like a bride who married a man and obeyed out of fear but lacked a foundation of Love ...

The Marriage failed just as many marriages on earth do now for the same reasons. A marriage based on fear and obligation is as nothing compared to one based on LOVE. The marriages with a foundation in LOVE can overcome all trials and tribulations the world will throw at em. It is ETERNAL. God said that He looked down on Earth and He could not find one soul that had done good. NO, not one. Soooooo, in order to save His children, He had to sacrifice His Son Jesus as to establish a NEW blood Covenant worthy of cleansing the sins of the people ... In the days of Moses, blood was sprinkled on the people to establish the Old Covenant. (Kinda like a blood pact between friends) Now, in the New Covenant, it is the blood of Jesus that established the New Covenant. In this marriage ... It is different in that the bride would CHOOSE to obey their husband because they loved Him in FAITH because of what He has done for them. He sacrificed His life so that those he loved might LIVE. This marriage will prove to be worthy and ETERNAL. They will make it through the trials and tribulations that the world will throw at em cuz ... They LOVE Him. That brings us to today with the CHOICE of Faith and Love ... Is not our Father AWESOME?
