THE EPISTLE OF PAUL THE APOSTLE TO THE ROMANS
CHAPTER 16
Greetings to you
once again, and happy to have you here to share this last chapter of The
Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Romans. Paul has covered many topics in
this one letter but if you were to summarize the entire letter, you could
probably say that it’s a very good guideline of how to live life as a
Christian. Faith is the key factor. If you were to go back and reread this
letter, or any letter that Paul wrote, for that matter, you’ll see that
Faith is the secret weapon that we Christians have that is stronger than
anything the enemy can attack with.
In much of this
last chapter, Paul sends greetings to various people from Rome and
elsewhere. You can read through them in your Bible in Romans 16:1-16. Then
Paul gives a kind warning to the people.
Now I beg you, friends, be aware of those who cause
divisions and offences
against the doctrine that you’ve learned, and avoid them.
Those people don’t serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their
own belly,
and by pretty words and eloquent speeches, they deceive
the hearts of the innocent.
Your obedience has become known abroad to all men.
I am glad therefore on your behalf:
but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and
simple concerning evil. Matthew 10:16
And the God of peace shall bruise satan under your feet shortly.
The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Amen.
Paul continues now similarly to his greeting at the beginning of this
chapter, only now he sends the greetings of others to the receivers of his
letter. You can read this in
Romans 16:21-23
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Now to Him that is of power to establish you according to my Gospel,
and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the
revelation of the mystery,
(remember, the mystery is everlasting life)
which was kept secret since the world began, but now is
made manifest,
and by the scriptures of the prophets,
according to the commandment of the everlasting God,
made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
to God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever.
Amen.
Congratulations on
completing the study of The Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Romans! If
you’re new to reading the writings of Paul, I’m certain that you can’t wait
to read more of his letters in the New Testament. If you’ve read Paul
before, it’s almost impossible not to learn something that you missed before
or see something from a different point of view. I hope you all will join
Daily Bread next time, as we open The First Epistle of Paul the Apostle to
the Corinthians and we can share more truths of the New Testament together
and learn even more about deepening our faith and walking as Jesus walked.
Now, let's type about your homework questions. You may recall that we
were talking about the members of Hezbollah and the first question was:
How does this compare to king Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon?
Well, before the carrying away of Jerusalem into Babylon, God told
Jeremiah to tell the people what was going to happen. The big difference
here is that it was foretold. There isn’t a prophecy that says that Israel
should surrender to Hezbollah.
Was king Nebuchadnezzar God’s servant?
God used Nebuchadnezzar for His own purposes. The king wasn’t righteous
in everything that he did in his life, but was king David, God’s anointed?
How about king Solomon, the wisest man to ever live? What about King Saul,
God’s first chosen king? What about the other numerous kings that reigned
over Israel and Judæ a? Most of them at
one time or another did evil in the sight of the Lord, yet they were still
God’s servants. In fact God called king Nebuchadnezzar His servant in
Jeremiah 27:6.
Did Nebuchadnezzar seem to have the welfare of the people of Jerusalem at
heart?
Have you ever read the book of Daniel? When king Nebuchadnezzar saw that
through God Daniel interpreted his dream he ordered all the people to
worship only the God of Daniel. You could say that when he saw truth, his
heart was in the right place.
Back in those days, the prophet Jeremiah advised the people of God’s
word, but how do you discern today who is God’s servant and who isn’t?
What did Jesus say? In
Matthew 7:16,
He said, You shall know them by their fruits. It’s important however to know
something about antichrist. At the beginning of the End Times, he will
appear to show good fruits in the first 3 ½ years of his reign, showing
signs and wonders and miracles and bringing false peace to the entire world,
but beware, because his evil will dominate in the second 3 ½ years.
I hope this little homework assignment has encouraged you to do some of
your own research. Whenever you have a question while you’re reading, be
sure to write it down right away so you don’t forget it when you continue
reading, and then later, go digging for some answers! It sure beats watching
TV, and just think of how much clearer you understand the truth about the
things that are going on in the world today and how they match exactly what
God’s prophets said would happen. It takes some study sometimes because the
names of different places have changed since ancient times, but that’s all
part of the challenge. See you again soon, and God Bless.
