Syrian MP confirms preparation for war
A member of the Syrian parliament, Muhammad Habash, confirmed on Tuesday that his country was actively preparing for war with Israel, expected to break out in the summer, Israel Radio reported.

America’s Changing Spirituality
Last month the Barna Group, the Christian research organization of Ventura, California, released their annual study of America’s spiritual activity. This year’s study showed some very interesting information regarding the perspectives and beliefs of those who call themselves Christians here in the United States.
The Barna Group stated in their report that typically minor shifts in what people believe do appear, but this year’s study found that "five out of six theological perspectives have shifted in recent years away from traditional biblical views." This seems to confirm what many pastors and ministers have warned against for years. While Americans seem to be as interested in "spiritual things" as ever—if not more so—their basis for beliefs regarding those spiritual things has significantly altered.
The study shows that Americans still have a traditional view of God, but they are less likely to hold that traditional view. Roughly two-thirds of Americans believe that God is the all-powerful, all-knowing creator of the universe. Last year 71% believed that, the new figures only show 66% do, and these numbers are the lowest in over 20 years.
The shift is not just limited to Americans’ view of God the Father, but also of Christ and Satan. Only 37% believe that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, and only 24% believe that Satan is a real being. Those numbers are the lowest points for those beliefs as well.
The study also shows that most Americans are more reluctant than ever to explain their faith to others. Americans are also more likely to believe that good works can earn salvation more than ever before.
One interesting thing the Barna Group’s study did reveal was that despite the major shift in Americans spiritual beliefs, the only thing that remained unchanged was that 45% of Americans still believe that the Bible is accurate.
The director of the study, David Kinnaman, said, "most Americans do not have strong and clear beliefs, largely because they do not posses a coherent biblical worldview."
Kinnaman also went on to state that the beliefs of Americans fluctuate because most have very few convictions about what they believe. Most cannot tell why they believe what they do, and are willing to accept any other belief.
Many see studies like this as evidence of the fulfillment of prophecy of the last days as mentioned in the Bible.

Solar storm warning: You have a year to prepare
The federal government now predicts a new cycle of solar storms will start in March 2008. Those storms are expected to peak around the end of 2011. That's the conclusion of some scientists at NOAA. Solar storms lead to violent eruptions on the sun's surface. There'll be solar flares and explosions sending highly charged matter toward Earth's atmosphere. This jolts Earth's geomagnetic field and ionosphere. That can lead to disruption of electric grids and communications systems. Sunspot predictions for this coming storm cycle run from 90 to 140. There were different prediction models among the scientists and that led to disagreement over how strong the next solar storm cycle might be. Stick around, we'll find out.

US Congress Erupts In Debate Over Biblical Prophecy, The Mark Of The Beast
As state legislators line up against the U.S. government's attempt to standardize driver's licenses nationwide, some believe it is a beastly plot that will draw the world closer to the apocalypse. Their fear: national ID numbers given to residents are the mark of the beast, the 666 from the Book of Revelation. "People are very concerned if the federal government gives you a number, it will be the mark of the beast," said Missouri Rep. Jim Guest, the sponsor of a resolution similar to Whitaker's. "If we reach a point where every person is given a number without which they cannot buy or sell, and if your number is in a national database so that the government can track everywhere you go and everything you do, the word is control, and control and freedom are opposites," said Irwin Baxter Jr., who runs Endtime. Any effort to repeal the Real ID Act is not to stall the eventual end of the world but to ensure the country stands against the Antichrist, Baxter said. "Daniel 11:40-45 reveals that there will be nations opposing the Antichrist during the Great Tribulation," according to an Endtime magazine article cited by Whitaker, who said she obtained it from Maine Senate Democratic Majority Leader Elizabeth Mitchell. "We want the United States, Australia, and as many other nations as possible to be on the side that will fight Satan's plan to number the human race," says the article. It calls the Real ID Act "the death of freedom."
