THE MOTHER’S
PRAYER
Written by Luz Leigh – 23 February 2008
The mother knelt
in prayer.
Father, protect my
children from all harm.
Such a broad
prayer, my child, replied the Father.
Which child and
from what specific harm?
With tears
streaming down her face, the woman said:
Father, there is
David; keep the devil out of his life as he
strives to serve you. He has learned to love
you and accept Your love in return after so
many years of following afar. Please continue
to give him good health and a job.
There is Don; keep
him safe from physical as well as spiritual
harm. Let not there be trouble while he is
pulling that extra security job tonight. You
know where he is; place your shield of
protection around him. Please continue to
bless him with good health.
Then there is Tim;
keep the devil out of his life; let not the
evil one bring unhappiness into his family.
Draw his wife and children close to you,
following the leadership of Tim. Father, you
have taught us that the husband is the
spiritual leader of the family, so for him I
ask your blessings of faithfulness and a
helping of righteousness. Please give him
peace tonight as he lays his head on the
pillow. You know his needs; only You can fill
them.
For my sweet
daughter, Heather, I ask your continued
blessing of physical and spiritual safety.
As she travels those highways so much each
week, please give her traveling grace. For
strength to be the Christian wife and mother
she is, I ask You always to guide her in what
she is to do.
Thank you for your
constant care over these my precious children
that you entrusted to me.
In the name of
Your blessed and only Son, Jesus Christ, do I
pray.
Wait, Lord,
another request.
Remember Joyce
next week as she goes to the doctor to see if
there is anything else that can be done for,
and these are her words, “my old failing
heart”. Using Your healing power, guide her
doctors in the right decision.
And another
request.
Oh, and let’s not
forget Jon. For Jon’s miracle I continue to
pray. He needs You as the Great Physician to
perform a miracle and give back his voice and
the use of his arms.
Wherever my sweet
granddaughter Patsy is, keep her safe from
physical and spiritual harm. Draw her back
onto Your path, guiding her every footstep.
Oh, yes, another
request.
For Craig’s radio
ministry, through his beautiful music and the
preaching of Your Word, bless his every
effort.
Wait, I’m not
through yet.
Father, will you
continue to bless the ministry of Brandon and
Stephen as they spread hope among people
around the world through the website they
administer in Your name. May souls be saved
and comfort be brought to the masses that go
there for help.
For my salvation
and health I thank you. There are so many
other things for which I am grateful; you know
my heart.
Now I will close
this prayer of “wants” and believe that Your
will be done for it is all asked in the name
of Jesus.
Amen
If I had never had
a problem I'd never have known God could solve
it.
