A WEDDING
Written by Luz Leigh – 07 April 2008
Some of you
who come to my web page often have noticed
that for several weeks nothing new has been
added. I do apologize for that, and thank you
for your continued visitations to the site,
but my life has been in an uproar. Nothing
serious; I just feel like the world is a
carousel and does not stop for me to exit the
merry-go-round. I have excuses, not reasons,
for having not written in a while.
There are
days when the “writer’s block” kicks in; there
are days when there are lots of thoughts that
I would love to type and put on the screen for
others to read, but the clock contains not
enough hours, and then there were the days
when I was physically ill and had not the
strength to type my thoughts. But, I am here
today and I have a few things to share.
Easter has
come and gone. Such a wonderful time of the
year; new growth everywhere to remind us of
the resurrection which gives new life to all
who believe.
We have a
family wedding later this spring and although
my grown children are taking care of the
details, I must do my share of being
concerned. I even dreamed that I had forgotten
the day of the wedding and was off shopping
during the hours I should have been at the
ceremony. What a wonderful relief when I
awakened to see that I had not missed the
opportunity to wear my new outfit and
especially the new hat I have for the
occasion. Oh, yeah, I did not miss the
marriage ceremony; that IS the reason for the
celebration.
When
thinking about weddings or marriages, I
recalled that Jesus’ first miracle was
performed at a wedding in Cana in
Galilee. Remember He, His mother and His
disciples were at a wedding. Mary discovered
that the wine that was being served to the
guests was gone. She came to Jesus and said,
“They have no more wine.” Well, you know how
the story goes…..Jesus had the servants fill
some barrels with water. He then instructed
the servants to take a sample of the “water”
to the master of the wedding banquet for his
approval. Not only was the wine acceptable, it
was deemed to be even better than the wine
that was served at the beginning of the
banquet. (Well, why not? After all it was made
by the Creator Himself.)
It is my
hope that whatever beverages that will be
served at my son’s wedding will be ample in
amount for all the guests. We will not have
Jesus there to turn any water into iced tea or
diet colas. But, His spirit will be among us,
sharing in the happiness that will abound on
that day.
