He Is Missed

On the 12th
of July 2007, it will have been approximately
4,382 days since my beloved Jack left this earth
for his heavenly home. How do I know that? Because
I have counted them; more than once. Sometimes it
seems only a few days have gone by; other times it
seem as though a lifetime has passed. But, let us
turn to happy thoughts today.
Jack loved his
family and he loved the people of the little
church we attended. It was his pleasure to do
little things for others, like making sure we had
a good supply of ice when we gathered for our
meals there. When it was time for me to depart for
church on a day we were having a meal there, he
was the one to load he food in the car. He also
made sure I had not forgotten anything.
For many years I
prepared the bulletins for the morning worship
service. Nearly every Sunday morning Jack would
fold them for me.
When the
children were small, he helped me get them
dressed; making sure each one had on matching
shoes; seeing to it they each had their
offering. Little things, but such important
things.
During the next
few weeks, when you see a hay field ready for
harvest or a farmer cutting, raking, baling or
moving his hay, think of Jack and the family he
left behind. Say a prayer for us as we continue to
deal with the empty place in our hearts.
I thank God for
the husband He gave me.
