HOW THE WEST WAS WON

      In the history of the west, few people do not recognize the name of Wyatt Earp. He was a United States marshal and has been the subject of many books, television shows, and movies. In the movie “Tombstone”, Earp tracks down the cowboys who have injured his brother Virgil while killing his other brother Morgan. The name of Earp’s gun was The Peacemaker.

      While the west was won with the help of lawmen like Wyatt Earp, our world is in need of a different king of lawman. We as Christians still carry around a peacemaker, but it is no gun. Our peacemaker is the wonderful good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He brings peace that no evil can snuff out. 

      Everyone has a God-shaped hole inside them. Some try to fill it with alcohol or drugs while others walk around in a fog of depression. Jesus can help fill those holes and supply the peace that a dying, sinful world needs.

      As you go into the world today, remember you are armed with your own peacemaker, the Word of God and the salvation He brings.

      Let us pray that our Father will show us His way of peace and that we might spread peace to everyone we encounter each day.
