My Internet connection dropped off suddenly, and when I try to log back into the chat room, I see the following message: Err P783 Access Denied. You are already logged in Your connection to the Chat Rooms is a thread to the chat server process. A thread is severed when you 1) log off using the Log Off button, 2) close your web browser, and/or 3) use your web browser's Forward or Back button to navigate away from the web page. If your Internet connection is unstable, and your Internet connection drops for a few seconds, your thread to the chat server process may not disconnect immediately. The chat server will recognize such idle threads after a few minutes, and sever them automatically. If it takes longer than usual you can clear your java cache. See below. CLICK HERE for more info. When I click the Chat Rooms link nothing happens, or a message appears telling me that it cannot connect, or that I have been disconnected. What is wrong If a server is offline, simply wait a few minutes. It is extremely rare that our chat servers go down, and we have automated systems in place to ensure they are back up and running within 10 minutes of going down. Secondly, and the most likely scenario, is that you are using a computer restricted by a firewall; see below: Back to top |

I am using a computer behind a firewall, or in a work/education environment. How can I connect? On some LAN firewalls, you may simply set the security setting to "Low" while you wish to use our chat software. Back to top |

I am experiencing lag, freezing and/or I keep getting knocked out of the chat room The Number One cause of getting knocked out of chat, freezing and lag in the chat rooms is running other programs on your computer while in chat. Yahoo Messenger, AOL, MSN and other Messenger systems uses heavy resources on your computer. Running these programs at the same time while in the chat room is why you are experiencing lag. Gaming sites, downloading large files and other heavy loads on your computer will cause lag in the chat room as well. Its always good to clear your cache as well as reboot your computer once a day or every couple of days depending on your usage to refresh your overall speed. Back to top |

Getting Started-Public Voice Chat For public room broadcast click the Voice Chat from the top Chat Room Menu and select Start my public broadcast. This will open a new window with your voice chat broadcast page. (You should also check the Show my Voice Chat icon, from the Voice Chat menu, so others can see you are broadcasting in case they choose to listen in.) If you have a popup blocker you may need to copy and paste the link in a new window to start your voice chat. On the new window you will see an Adobe Flash Player Settings menu pop up. Click allow to start your voice broadcast. Click the microphone icon on this Flash popup to control the volume of your broadcast. At the bottom of the voice chat window is a drop down box of the people who are currently listening in to your broadcast. If someone wants to listen they need to right click the broadcasters name in the user list and select listen to this users broadcast. You can listen to as many broadcasts as you like by right clicking on their name. Each broadcast will be in a different window. You can mute certain broadcasts if you like by clicking the box next to the speaker on the stage page. Back to top |

Public Voice Chat Info With broadcast voice chat, each user can see a list of the other user that are listening. As such, there should never be any question as to who is listening to a user's voice broadcast. Additionally, a user may only access the voice chat feature when they are connected to the chat room. Since the chat service and voice chat service function using different technologies running on different servers, it is possible that a slight lag time could exist between when a user logs out of the chat room, and the time their voice chat session stops working thereafter. IMPORTANT Private Voice Chat INFO When a user opens a private voice chat session with another user, each user opens a Flash element in a web page unique to their one-to-one session. The users each give Flash permission to access their computer's microphone, and they connect on the same web page for voice chatting. If a user who has already opened a private voice chat session with one user decides to open a second private voice chat with a second user without having first closed their original private voice chat session, then the user would indeed be broadcasting their voice to the two users simultaneously. That is because their computer only has one microphone, not one microphone per private voice chat session. Flash is controlling microphone access. If a user is listening to voice chat using their computer's speakers rather than headphones, then their microphone may indeed pick up other voices that are played via the speakers and, in turn, broadcast those voices from the speakers to the microphone back to any user listening. So it is best to use a headset, otherwise talking with 2 different people in private voice chat will be more like a 3 way conference call. Also, to be safe, it would be best to voice chat in private with only 1 person at a time. Otherwise it would be better to use the Public voice chat so you can accept or deny who you would like to listen in if you want to voice chat with a selected few. Back to top |
