Food For Thought: Low (or NO) Sodium Ranch Dressing

Postby Mackenaw » Sun Jul 05, 2020 2:57 pm

Hello Everyone :)

God bless you this day.

The following recipe is for a Low (or in my case...NO) Sodium Ranch Dressing. I adapted the recipe from a site called The Midnight Baker. The first part of the recipe if for the actual ranch seasoning mix -- in bulk. The second part of the recipe is how to make an actual dressing using some of the seasoning mix as one of the ingredients.

Dry Ingredients:
1 Cup Powdered Milk or Powdered Buttermilk (I use the Powdered Buttermilk)
1/2 Cup Dehydrated Minced Onions
1/2 Cup Dried Parsley
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
1 Tablespoon dried Chives
1 teaspoon dried Dill Weed
1/2 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
0 - 3 teaspoons Salt (I use zero salt)

Mix together and store in an airtight container and store in a dark, cool place.

FYI: 3 Tablespoons of the Dry Mixture is equivalent to 1 envelope/packet of commercial dressing mix.

To make about a cup of dressing, the recipe calls for mixing the following:
Mix 1 Tablespoon of seasoning mix with 1/2 cup mayonnaise and 1/4 cup milk or buttermilk.

I make substitutions for health reasons: I mix 1 Tablespoon of seasoning mix (minus the salt) with 1/4 Cup + 2 Tablespoons (or 6 Tablespoons) Plain Nonfat Greek Yogurt, 2 Tablespoons Kraft Avocado Oil Mayonnaise and 1/4 cup 2% milk.

I enjoy this dressing recipe, with the substitutions, several times a week. I hope you or someone you know will benefit from the recipe. The link to The Midnight Baker -- minus the parenthesis: ((https://bakeatmidnite.com/low-sodium-ra ... oning-mix/))

Matthew 4:4 King James Version (KJV)
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Ephesians 5:8-21 King James Version (KJV)
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12 For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Isaiah 24:21-23 King James Version (KJV)
21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
22 And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.
23 Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.

Isaiah 60:1-3 King James Version (KJV)
60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.
2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Revelation 21:22-27 King James Version (KJV)
22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Shall we sing? This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.

God bless and keep you,
