a little uneasy...help please?

Hi.

After I have finished the Spirit of Truth program, I have been getting closer to the Holy Spirit. I have fallen many times and have made progress in trying REALLY hard not to fall again. AT the end of the program, I was lead to the book, The Spirit within and the beast without. I read that book online yesterday, I was getting uneasy about the whole spiritual warfare. I know that it existed but reading Brandon's experience, it kind of left me frightened. I must admit I am a big scaredy cat, even at age 33. I am afraid that when I get closer to God, something frightening like that will happen to me. I know our God is bigger, greater, most powerful...yet I still get scared. I know fear is from the enemy but still can't overcome it completely. I have been praying continuously for the Holy Spirit to give me peace and courage and I know He does. The past few days, I gotten a lot closer to the Holy Spirit and when I think about Him, talk to Him, I get chills and goosebumps. That IS the Holy Spirit, right?

Anyone else read this? How did you respond to it? I want to go into the study about the end of time because I know I should get myself prepared but I am scared, truthfully. Sorry I sound like a baby. Wish someone could lead me and help me with this...thank you...

I, too, used to be a real scaredy cat, up to age 53. But, then something happened, I got to know The Holy Spirit -- just as you are doing now. Yeah!!! Many of us that used to be a scaredy cat, were so, because we had an extremely sensitive spirit, a.k.a spiritual discernment, yet we didn't know it, therefore, we did not understand it, leading us to believe we were a little nutzoid.

Sooooooo, now that you know you are spiritually sensitive, it does not mean that the spiritual attacks will be greater, just means you'll have a better understanding of what is going on around you -- it is known as spiritual warfare. It has been there all along, you just didn't know what it was called, and maybe thought you were imagining everything. Remember, you are not alone...The Holy Spirit is right there with you, and He is more powerful than any other power.

I John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.

The name of Jesus wields power. In the name of Jesus...
If you sense there are evil spirits around, speak confidently, aloud, in the name of Jesus. Example: In the name of Jesus leave this house now, you have no authority here. Then start praising The Lord, put on some awesome Christian music and sing and praise The Lord.

F.Y.I. Satan and evil spirits or demons cannot read our minds. Only God can read our mind. Satan and demons may be watching our habits and such, but they cannot read our minds, therefore, if you find you need to address them, you must address them aloud. So, too, when we pray silently to our Lord, evil cannot hear it, only God can. Isn't that awesome?!!!

Back in David's day, God sent an evil spirit to hound King Saul, because King Saul had stopped seeking The Lord, and his heart had turned hard and cold. The only relief he could get from the evil spirit was by David playing spiritual tunes on his harp. Evil spirits do not like to be in the presence of sincere praises to our Lord, nor to be in the presence of beautiful and sweet music.

I, too, read Brandon's book, and it was a real eye-opener, and a blessing. The few twinges of fear that tried to have their way with me, soon departed, as I prayed and praised our Lord.

My dear, spiritual warfare is not fought with what we have on our own, it is only fought and conquered by the power from on High, and He dwells inside you.

Sometimes it is Him. Yeah!!! He demonstrates Himself in many ways. God is so Good!!! One of my descriptions of Him, when I'm reading The Word and a portion of scriptures almost seems to leap off the page at me, I call it a Ding, Ding, Ding moment. No, I don't actually hear Ding, Ding, Ding, but rather...my whole being seems to feel it.

Lyl1114, The Lord loves you so very much, and as He says in His blessed and holy Word... John 10:27-28 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: (28) And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.

Sometimes His voice or His presence is demonstrated in more of a knowing that comes upon us. As long as you continue to seek Him, you'll start to recognize Him in many ways. And as The Word describes when God spoke to Elijah, the prophet, it says..."a still small voice."

I Kings 19:12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

II Timothy 1:7 God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, of power and of a sound mind.

When fear tries to have it's way with you, think on that scripture. Ask The Holy Spirit to remind you of it...He will, He did with me. \o/ \o/ \o/ Praise You God: God The Father, God The Son and God The Holy Spirit.

ahhhh, sister mack...THANK YOU for your insight. My goodness, I was really scared since today until now... , until your response...i was hoping someone will help me. Yes, that verse is what I kept repeating to myself.

I know the Holy Spirit is within me and I know God is THE most POWERFUL and HE really loves me. Thank you for helping me cope with this...I will pray that I will be stronger with the help of the Holy Spirit. And a prayer of thanks to God for you. Thank you thank you thank you, God and you!

Yes, I am determined to keep my walk with God very close. I am making baby steps but still... ...seeking His face is tooooooooooooo good for me to stay away!

As I was reading your journal entry, I immediately felt better knowing that I wasn't the only one that experienced fear of getting closer to God. Even though I wanted to, every time it seemed I was getting closer, I would do something that would back me away and keep at a distance. As a result of it, I am missing out on so much. The Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me to not be afraid anymore. As long as I remained afraid I would never get closer to the Lord. I just found this website a couple of days ago when I was searching for signs of the end times and about who the antichrist is. I have been so blessed to find this site. I am not going to say that my fear is completely gone, but it is not keeping me from moving forward now. I chose to allow the Holy Spirit to guide me and I know as I get closer to Him and allow Him to remain in me, the enemy will have no power using fear against me. Don't be afraid, trust the Holy Spirit, He is our comforter. He will cause us no harm. Thank you for sharing your fear. One more thing, when we bring things out of darkness and into light, the enemy no longer has power over it. God bless and stay connected with the Holy Spirit. He will take you where you need to go as long as you allow Him.

Thanks, Jewels72! Yes, I am getting better and very much at ease with the Holy Spirit. It wasn't really Him that I was afraid of but our enemy but that too, I am not very scared anymore! Hallelujah!
