Acts 3:26 (kjv) - Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

Acts 3:26 (nkjv) - To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”

He is both but the words should not be interchangeable in the text because Son and Servant are in no way the same word in Greek.

I don't see how they would be interchangeable any more than Lion and Lamb.

Hello BeckyHeart21888 :)

God bless you this day.

Good observation, BeckyHeart. I'm not sure why those that published the New King James version of The Bible exchanged the word "Son" (in the KJV) for the word "Servant" (in the NKJV) in verse Acts 3:26. But, obviously, your question got many of us thinking. :) Yeah!!!

I, personally, prefer the King James Version, but, I also know that God manifested Himself in the flesh of man to be an example to us, in the form of a Servant, even to the point of being made a little lower than the angels. However, Jesus Christ (The Word) is God's only begotten Son and is God in the flesh. \o/ \o/ \o/

Below, are portions of scripture which I believe will contribute to the discussion:

Philippians 2:5-11King James Version (KJV)

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

and also...

Mark 10:45King James Version (KJV)

45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Thank you, BeckyHeart, for your question.

God bless and keep you.
In Christ Jesus' love,
Sister Mack

You also have the relationship of a shepherd and his sheep. That is why I like the scripture of Psalms chapter 23 so much.
Sheep don't serve their shepherd, They don't wash his feet or cleanse his clothing or be his footstool to rest his feet or cleanse his wounds. All they do is follow him and obey his commands and authority.

The Shepherd on the other hand leads his sheep to where ever he needs them to go in order to provide for them.
When they thirst, he leads them to water.
When they hunger, He leads them to food.
He builds shelter for them and leads them to it in order to get them out of the exposure to the elements of nature.
He protects them from danger such as predators and thieves.
He lives his life entirely around them putting their best interests at heart before his own. Even when it means giving up his life to save theirs.

He is the authority of the sheep but he is also their servant as well.
As their authority he has the responsibility to serve them.

Jesus is both, in john 13:1-17 it mentions

13 It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”

7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.”

Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”

9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”

10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.

12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

God's Word is so Awesome!!!

Luke 22:27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.
