Verse of Interest: Zechariah 11:17

Hello Everyone :)

God bless you this day.

I came across scripture that I don't remember ever noticing before, but wowza, it stopped me in my tracks.

Zechariah 11:17 Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

Of course, the entire chapter is eye-opening, but that verse...WOW.

Thank You Holy Spirit for leading us into all truth.

God bless and keep you, all,
Mack

Wow! That does cause one to think and even tense up a little bit.

There definitely are higher degrees of discipline for teachers and shepherds.

God bless you Mackenaw

Hello Dora, O-meister and all who are reading this :)

God bless you this day.

Amen! Amen! Amen! Yes, God does and will continue to hold those who have been assigned by God to lead His sheep to a higher standard.

Matthew 18:6-11 (New King James Version)
6 But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
8 If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.
9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.
10 Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.
11 For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.

James 3:1 (New King James Version)
3 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.

Now, I once again address the scripture Zechariah 11:17 plus I include the 2 previous verses, also.

Zechariah 11:15-17 (New King James Version)
15 And the Lord said to me, “Next, take for yourself the implements of a foolish shepherd. 16 For indeed I will raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for those who are cut off, nor seek the young, nor heal those that are broken, nor feed those that still stand. But he will eat the flesh of the fat and tear their hooves in pieces.

17 “Woe to the worthless shepherd,
Who leaves the flock!
A sword shall be against his arm
And against his right eye;
His arm shall completely wither,
And his right eye shall be totally blinded.”

In these 3 verses Jesus is speaking about the Antichrist as the shepherd that He, The Lord, will raise up. The Lord will do so because of the Israelites/Jews failure to recognize and accept Christ Jesus as The Messiah, and for their failure to follow God's Word prior to Christ Jesus' arrival. Therefore, the majority of Zechariah chapter 11 is prophetic (speaking of future events at a future date from the time that God gave this message to Zechariah and when he put it to pen).

Wow, I really wound that paragraph around loop-to-loop. Hope everyone is able to follow it.

Again, the entire Chapter 11 of Zechariah is blessed.

I suppose I should clarify why I felt "stopped in my tracks" when I read verse 17.
I wondered if it just might be a description of the appearance of the Antichrist. Throughout The Bible there have been descriptions of Satan, when he was an Arch Angel called Lucifer, and also descriptions of Antichrist's personality (disguised then true) his personality, ego, etc., and descriptions of him when The Lord will raise him up and even the fact that his fatal wound was/is now healed. Makes me wonder.

I love The Word of God.

God bless you, all.
Love,
Mack
