Advice for a frustrated wife

Postby amlynn » Tue Feb 12, 2013 11:43 am

Greetings! My first post and this is very new to me so be kind. :) I'm married to my high school sweetheart and we have 2 wonderful girls. I gave my life to Christ several years ago and since have wanted desperately for my husband to follow so that we can have a Godly marriage, reading scripture together, praying together, etc. It still hasn't happened and while I know it's all in God's timing, it's extremely hard. I'm trying to use this "wait time" to further my relationship with the Lord. We have had many trials in our marriage and have been close to separating several times. I know having God be the core of our relationship isn't going to magically fix it all but I do think it would make a huge impact. Why can't my husband see that? Help! Any advice, words of encouragement, similar stories would be great. Thanks!

Is he open at all to attending church?

1 Corinthians 7:14 'For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; else, were your children unclean, but now they are holy. 16] For what knowest thou O wife whether thou shalt save thy husband

James 5:19, 20 'Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; 20] let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

1 Peter 3:1, 2 Likewise ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives. 2] While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Been there - the scriptural advice worked. Together, we now serve the body of Christ.

I became Christian in 2008. My wife is still not.
Christ teaches about unconditional love, so i practice that. Love is kind etc etc. I pray she becomes Christian but also realise that her journey to get there is different to mine. She notices the huge changes in me and this has improved our marriage.
When she becomes a Christian is entirely a matter for God. So, i leave that to him. It is not my issue - only praying is my responsibility, God does the rest.
I behave with love and everything improves from there.
