STEP SIX ... Renew Your Mind Charts

Postby Christianity Oasis » Mon Aug 20, 2007 10:38 pm

Greetings fellow Christians,

I would like to share thoughts with you about Step Six of the C-O-O-L Christian Path program which is located at ... www.ChristianityOasis.com/cccc/forum.htm

On Step Six of this program ... The soul is asked to create a few charts. The method of keeping charts in this Christian path program is to assist in removing bad habits from the mind and to establish new habits as one renews the mind as we were commanded to do:

Romans 12:2 ... And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Ephesians 4:23 ... And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

Many people have bad habits and they seek ways of removing these habits and replacing them with righteous ones. Many have found that keeping these charts is an effective way to keep track of their new goals until they become part of their routine.

From our childhood we are taught to follow procedures and oft times keep documentation. In school, in our jobs, in our goal setting, check books, taxes, research, dieting, etc. ... It seems to me that if we find these personal and even worldly things worthy of establishing the habit of and even keeping documentation on, God is certainly worthy of doing the same.

Do teachers not have structured lesson plans for their students? Are these students not graded on achievement? Are they not rewarded or condemned by way of grades for meeting the goals that the teacher has placed before them? Are teachers not required to keep documentation on the status of each individual student? Are these grade sheets and charts not required legal documents? Is this not the procedure by which the School system plants the seeds of each lesson within each student?

This procedure is used even in our hobbies ... What of playing the guitar or any other instrument ... Does it not require that one discipline themselves and spend many hours placing into mind certain pages of notes by way of repeated attempts of playing the same notes to a specific song over and over until this procedure becomes habit and soon they no longer need the paper?

So we see that there is a structured method of planting seeds within. We see that training ourselves by way of repeated practice in a specific area establishes habit and with continued use, we get get better at our goal, aspiration and/or dream. Creating documentation to see your progress as to continue to set higher goals as to be the best Christian you can be for our Father ... Is not wrong.

Keeping records of your accomplishments for God is not mandatory to be sure no more than David writing Psalms for God was mandatory. It was and is a matter of CHOICE. But due to David's choice to create, put to music and even document these Psalms, many of us are uplifted ... Even today.

Many find that these charts assist them in planting good seeds within. Like the notes to a certain song which are rehearsed over and over until it becomes part of you, these recorded daily habits for God repeated day in and day out until they become habit are a great way to renew the mind.

I share these words today for those who are on the Christian Path and have struggled with creating these charts or believe the charts to be too Religious or even as not being effective. Nothing could be further from the TRUTH. These charts are SPIRITUAL and they are effective.

So the REAL question is not to do or not to do the Charts ... That is up to each of you. The REAL question for most is ... Do the charts work? Are they really effective? Is the few minutes I spend each day logging information into my charts worthy? Will these charts help me to establish new habits and renew my troubled mind? I mean ... That is why you are on the path in the first place, is it not?

Excellent questions ... The answer? You are sitting in front of the evidence. The fruits are before you. These charts are a major ingredient in the recipe for Christianity Oasis.

Consider this ... I began my charts 14 years ago and they became habits and I have been renewed within. They are now my natural reactions and my relationship with our Lord has blossomed. They are my DAILY SPIRITUAL SACRIFICE to God as David's Psalms were.

That does NOT mean that all should do this, as different people have different ways of reaching the same goal. I just want everyone to overcome the bad habits that they may have and establish good habits which makes the Christian path easier. This path works ... If ya have a better one, get after it. If not ... Why not?

Carry on in FAITH.
Love One Another.

Luv ya
