Grace and Mercy for Maddy

Hosted by Saint 701 ... This forum is for the purpose of examining the subject of Grace and its great place in God's work in the body of Christ Jesus of which we are a part. "The Book of Romans" was chosen for the title since that book is so rich in Grace to us, but in no way is this forum limited in examining Grace to only the "Book of Romans."

Grace and Mercy for Maddy

Hello Christianity Oasis, All...

Blessings!

It isn't often much that is Christian makes the news in the good ol' U.S.A.. But Maddy has. If you didn't catch her story, Maddy is an 18 year old senior at a Christian school in Texas. She is her school's valedictorian for the 1017 graduating class and was the Student Body President. In all respects she was a model of excellence. Unfortunately, the school has an abstinence policy regarding sexual activity that all must adhere to. All must pledge with an oath to abstain from sexual activity until married. Maddy didn't, and as a consequence found herself to be pregnant this past January. In February she notified her school of her condition. The powers that be of the school stripped her of her status as Student Body President and suspended her for the remainder of the semester. She was to be home schooled.

Maddy appealed her suspension and was allowed to resume attending classes at the school. However, she accepted the stripping of her status as Student Body President and suspension from all other school activities short of attending classes. She felt that was punishment enough and humiliation enough. She even went so far as to address the student body in an assembly confessing her indiscretion and seeking mercy. None was forth coming from the school. To increase her humiliation the powers that be at the school decided she would not be able to attend graduation ceremonies with her peers.

That was more than Maddy could endure. She appealed that decision to no avail. Feeling betrayed by the institution she had served so well she contacted a pro life advocate who in turn helped the story become headline news via outlets such as Fox News.

Her story is not unique of course, a moral failure played out before the nation, and an unforgiving group of adults heaping on the holier than thou condemnation. Wouldn't it be nice if adults that thump others with the Bible in similar circumstances would learn the lesson of the woman taken in adultery and how Jesus handled that situation? Wouldn't it be nice if such adults would follow the example of Paul in showing mercy to the young man bent upon having his mother as his wife? That young man repented and Paul said he had suffered enough for his indiscretion. Jesus refused to condemn the woman taken in adultery. Such examples are stark in comparison to what the young 18 year old did, but the mercy and grace shown by both our Lord and the Apostle Paul on has fallen on the deaf ears of the Board of Directors at that school. May the sin of the 18 year old young lady fall upon the heads of those barring her from receiving her diploma openly along with the rest of her class until they learn what is meant by mercy and grace.

I side with Maddy. She has suffered enough.

I agree, she has suffered enough. Although I would not want, "the sin of the 18 year old young lady fall upon the heads of those barring her from receiving her diploma openly along with the rest of her class until they learn what is meant by mercy and grace." To forgive is to love. Love, the second of Christ's commandments, should be upheld in all circumstances.

Luke 23:34. And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Amen my brothers in Christ. Often man and woman forget that the Lord is the sole judge, and meet out punishment they feel is necessary without consulting God. Of course, many schools are removing God completely from their schools and therefore Satan is using schools as an open hunting ground. These are trying times we live in, and persecution is rampant. May God's love for Maddy bring comfort to her. May the souls who condemn her find love and mercy in their hearts for her. God's will be done.
Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.
