On Patience, Long Suffering and Perseverance...

Hosted by Saint 701 ... This forum is for the purpose of examining the subject of Grace and its great place in God's work in the body of Christ Jesus of which we are a part. "The Book of Romans" was chosen for the title since that book is so rich in Grace to us, but in no way is this forum limited in examining Grace to only the "Book of Romans."

On Patience, Long Suffering and Perseverance...

Hello Christianity Oasis, All...

Divorce is a tough row to hoe especially if you are the party that doesn't want one. Why? You do not want a divorce because God hates it. You do not want a divorce because you have invested most every part of your being into making your marriage a Godly place, a place to give Him glory for helping you do right as much as possible to your spouse. You have honored him/her at every turn. But now you find yourself in court. Your spouse has revealed to you that he/she has fallen for a cool co-worker and has zero intent on exiting the affair. The one bright spot in the darkness is the pre-nuptial agreement you signed with your spouse forbidding a divorce for 3 years after separation proceedings have begun, unless both parties agree to end the agreement.

You have made up your mind to carry on alone without your spouse for the entire 3 year period. Your spouse has moved out of your house and put it up for sale. He/She is openly flaunting the affair. You have already been forced to move into an apartment. But, you will not agree to terminate the marriage because you believe that through God's help the marriage can be saved. You decide to fast and pray, to seek out as many Godly counselors as you can find, to practice all of facets of wisdom you gain from them because their wisdom is based on the sound tenets of the Bible.

Six months pass...you have been in fasting and prayer the entire time...also attending church and Bible group gatherings...you have put into practice those things your counselors have advised you to do...but nothing changes. Your spouse only gets angrier and angrier because you won't give him/her a divorce. What are your options now?

Do you become angry with God? No, you do not. Why? Because your path during the separation proceedings has been to pursue wise counsel. You have learned that you are a child of God, a son or daughter of the Most High! You have learned that you are dearly beloved, blessed with the love of the Father. And because of that you love Him dearly despite the suffering you have been made to endure. You understand that it is not your Heavenly Dad causing your agony. Your agony is the calling card of the devil. You are locked in a knock down drag out fight for the soul of your "X." You understand that your life in Christ Jesus calls upon you to be patient, to be long suffering...2.5 more years of fasting and prayer, loving your "X" despite his/her actions that cause you grief. You understand your battle requires that in all respects you persevere in right doing and in so doing glorify God.

Wow, what a great study. So glad to see you sharing with us again. Keep them coming.
Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.
