Finish the story

Hi everyone...I wanted to try something called Finish the story...what you do is read the following story and then finish it.

Callie was so excited...she had finally grown the best tomato she had ever grown...and she just knew it was going to win her First place in the county fair. The Fair was tomorrow so Callie got up early before church and went out and picked her prize tomato and wrapped it carefully in a towel and placed it on the table on her front porch. She then went off to church for some great praise and worship.

In the meantime, Joe was riding on the train, and as the train stopped in the country community, Joe hopped off to go see if he could scrounge up something to eat. He was starving. It had been 3 days since Joe had anything to eat. Being Sunday morning, most people would be at church, so Joe knew it would be hard to find anyone at home in these farm houses to ask for a meal. As Joe walked, he became very hot and started perspiring..and his stomach was in knots from the hunger. He happened to look up at that moment and saw a towel on a table of a nearby house. Joe walked up and picked up the towel, and as he did out rolled the biggest and most beautiful tomato Joe had ever encountered. Joe wiped off his head with the towel and being so hungry he couldn't resist he began eating the tomato.

About this time, Callie is coming home from church. When she pulls up she sees this dirty, scraggling looking stranger on her porch eating her "Prize" tomato...Callie gets out of the car and walks up to the stranger and says:

Now you all finish the story.

Story #2

Jack and Jeff have been bitter enemies for years. Jack has done things to Jeff, from stealing from him, to lieing to him, to destroying his car with a baseball bat. Jeff sees Jack as one bad dude...and often mentions to his wife, how they need to just lock Jack up and throw away the key.

One day Jeff decides to go out fishing. As he is driving his boat out on the lake, he notices a boat overturning in the water. He drives over to see what is going on. Upon his arrival he sees Jack flailing wildly in the water without a life jacket, yelling help me, I can't swim. Jeff begins to struggle with thoughts about all the bad things Jack has ever done to him and others. Jeff then....

You finish the story.

This one is based on a true story:

A mission organization who houses homeless men decides to expand it's facilities to include 44 more beds for the homeless. Six months after completion, residents in homes, who live close to the mission begin to complain to the city about the extra activity at the facility and that crime is going up in the area. The city begins to investigate and finds the mission expanded it's facilites without getting the required building permits or inspections. The mission applied to the city for a special use permit. This permit has to be voted on by the city council. At a special called meeting by the city council they....

"We have fruits and vegetables in the house.I will go get you some.Just wait right there." (I chose to respond like that because I'm feeling inside that is what Jesus would have us do(something of that nature)..As a matter of fact,Jesus would probably have us give ALL of our fruits and vegetables to this obviously homeless or having been through something looking man.)As a female though, the "Just wait right there" is an actual command for a female's safety. We,as females, should be cautious when it comes to a complete stranger but we should NOT let that fear keep us from serving the Lord and to me,that situation was a near-perfect opportunity to serve the Lord AND witness about all the great things Jesus could do for this person...I believe Callie was the vessel the Lord was using for that gentleman..I hope she took advantage of the fact she COULD turn that man's life around simply by offering up a very humane act(giving of the food or very possibility letting him stay on a couch, cot, tent or wherever there was a spot to lay his head.AND don't forget to invite him to church Callie and DO NOT be embarrassed by this man's appearance if you don't have the extra money at that moment to buy him an outfit or something...The Lord isn't embarrassed over your shortcomings........These stories are VERY interesting and for sure can teach us of where our own mind and faith are REALLY at in the Lord,as opposed to what we just say@W.W.J.D?(reciting scripture, attending church,etc)...God Bless everyone and have a fantastic weekend *harp*
