Letting Go

I hear people in misery because they don't understand God or the awful things that happen in this world.

We aren't supposed to understand. It is not ours to understand. We are not God. God does not owe us an explanation. We do NOT have the RIGHT to know.

God is our creator. He is so much more in control of us than our parents ever were. With all the awful things we know that parents have done to children - God has so much more power over us. But God is good. He does not torture us and treat us with evil whims. God loves us. He sent His son to die for us.

God IS all powerful. So why doesn't he choose to fix things? There is a parable about wheat and tares - you can look that up.

But my message here is the Serenity Prayer - if you don't know it - Google it.

The confusion and pain that so many people experience is for trying to fix, do, and understand what is not theirs to understand.

So, how do you let Go? You CHOOSE to let go. It is easy. The hard part is choosing over and over and over again. You let go by doing something else. Pick up a book, go out with your friends, watch a TV show that interests you, play a video game - when you are puzzling over that which makes you miserable STOP! Choose to think about something else - the grocery list, what you are going to cook, the things your children did yesterday.

If you practice not thinking about the unanswerable that makes you miserable, you will find that it becomes easier with time.

Some things just are not yours.

Think of things to think about. Think of things to distract you - and learn to let go.

We see through a glass darkly. We will know - maybe we will only know for a moment and then we will forget for eternity. I rather think it will be that way - because I often just want to forget the evils of this world.

Satan reminds me of what I did wrong - God said to me that I have done bigger things right - think on those things. It is amazing how that makes things better. Satan says that I said something stupid and hurt somebody's feelings. God says I have been faithful to be there for someone else. You choose where you mind goes. Learn to choose.

For me, a famous pastor had said we need to expand our Gospel. I sometimes make God and His kingdom out to be small and when I do that I realize that I need to pray because I have God in a box. I agree that making the choice is easy but the follow through is tough. That is why Jesus says his yoke is easy and burden light because as a first, second, third,.... last decision we can also pray.
Good topic. It reminds of praying without ceasing.
