Depression

This forum will help us to learn how to use Preventative Maintenance when it comes to our emotions. Renewing our minds daily in Christ helps us to control our emotions and lead a more productive life in Christ instead of being swept away in the whirlwind of emotions this life can throw at us daily.

Depression

Postby Maverick_Reborn » Mon Dec 31, 2012 4:43 pm

I don' t know if I should begin with my depression, frustration, or anger. Anger is not as huge a deal I guess, I don' t have a hard time holding it in at least. Frustration is a bigger problem. It has gotten to the point where I seek ways to harm myself whenever something irritates me, (this one is a lot harder to hide. Although the harm I do to myself doesn't' even hurt, but I digress). A major problem I have, that I hate to acknowledge at all, is the fact that I do not feel like I am a child of God. Past memories and Such usually convince me of that statement, and then I fall into depression and cynicism. I have been reluctant to even mention it. To be honest, I do not like asking for help. Unfortunately, it is getting a lot harder to get out of depression, (although it is not as bad as before I came here)'. I' m not sure if I am asking for help, or just looking for a way to make it go away for awhile. I tried to read various studies, but when I'm depressed I cannot, and when I'm not depressed it does not really help.

When you are not depressed, I'm sure it does help. But it isn't about feelings. It is about growth. Grown in love and in trusting God. When we look to live our life by feelings, we are much easier to control.

Depression tries to keep on going. If you will do one little thing at a time, it helps. Things include:

1. Walking across the room
2. Looking up
3. Listening to something positive
4. Reading one positive Bible verse
5. Putting one dish in the dishwasher or washing one dish
6. Saying something to somebody.
7. Saying a prayer.
8. Opening the curtains.
9. Sitting outside on a nice day.
10. Taking a shower.

You get the picture. Each small act is a fight against it. And generally you can do one small act.

When you are not depressed, the studies and prayers do help to build you up. But Satan lies. He really does. And he throws bad thoughts at you. If you can start recognizing that, it will really help.

Hugs.
Hugs,
Dema

Hello Repention :)

God bless you this day.

Dema has given you good advice, and I hope you'll take it to heart. :)

I also want to give you a link to an awesome study on this site "How to control your soul". If you have already read it, I recommend you read it again, afresh. :) http://www.christianityoasis.com/Keywor ... urSoul.htm

Every day, each and every day we make choices, and one of the most important choices we, as Christians, can make is to connect with The Lord...spirit to Spirit, and live out our daily life in the new life we now have in Christ.

Yes, we still have this flesh/carnal/natural life/container that we were born with, but we now have a new (supernatural) spirit life too. The choice is ours. Every day we must choose, and sometimes we have to choose several times a day, because we default to the old so easily.

I, too, sometimes wish I no longer had to choose, but instead was miraculously complete NOW, but I'm not. However, that day will come in the future...when I'm face to Face with Him in Heaven. And, that is how it is with all of us. We NEED The Lord, and I'm so glad He allows us to know that, and that He fulfills every need we have. Thank You Lord \o/ \o/ \o/

Prayers continue to rise to our Lord in the name of Jesus on your behalf. May God's blessed will be done.

God bless and keep you.
Love,
Mack
