After a long journey from Hong Kong, which involved a 7-hour layover compounded by a 3-hour delay, we arrived in Chicago. We missed the last flight to Grand Rapids, our destination, by just 20 minutes. The airline arranged hotel rooms for us, and we took a shuttle for a short night's rest. We must have been a pretty sorry sight to the hotel staff. One of them looked at us, shook his head, and simply said, "Distressed travelers." Perhaps in the travel industry that is a common term, but it was new to me. And it felt appropriate after 2 hard days of travel.

That experience was, for me, somthing of a metaphor for life. We are pilgrims in this world, traveling to a heavenly home that will be beyond description. Along the way, however, the cares and burdens of the journey can rob us of our hope and joy. we become distressed travelers in despeerate need of encouragement and refreshment. The Lord calls to weary pilgrims like us, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matt. 11:28 ). Only He can give us rest for our souls to strengthen us for the road ahead.

Are you distressed in your journey? Lean on Him! His love and care are there to restore your heart. ))Bill Crowder

**************Today's Bible Reading __ Matthew 11:20-30**********

20 Then He began to rebuke
the cities in which most of
His mighty works had been
done, because they did not
repent; 21 "Woe to you,
Chorazin! Woe to you,
Bethsaida! For if the mighty
works which were done in
you had been done in Tyre
and Sidon, they would have
repented long ago in
sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I
say to you, it will be more
tolerable for Tyre and Sidon
in the day of judgment than
for you. 23 And you,
Capernaum, who are exalted
to heaven, will be brought
down to Hades; for if the
mighty works which were
done in you had been done
in Sodom, it would have
remained until this day..."

25 At that time Jesus
answered and said, "I thank
You, Father, Lord of heaven
and earth, that You have
hidden these things from the
wise and prudent and have
revealed them to babes.

26 Even so, Father, for so it
seemed good in Your sight,

27 "All things have been
delivered to Me by My
Father, and no one knows
the Son except the Father.
Nor does anyone know the
Father except the Son, and
the one to whom the Son
wills to reveal Him.

28 "Come to Me, all you
who labor and are heavy
laden, and I will give you
rest. 29 Take My yoke upon
you and learn from Me, for I
am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for
your souls. 30 For My yoke
is easy and My burden is
light."

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>INSIGHT<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

The word yoke in verses 29-30 of today's Bible reading is a reference
to God's laws (Jer. 5:5) and is a symbol of submission (Lev. 26:13;
Jer. 27:8 ). In contrast to legalistic Judaism, the yoke Jesus offers is
easy and light because of who Jesus is--gentle and lowly in heart
(Matt. 11:29). __SKT

Amen cimi,

no matter where we travel to in this life and no matter where life takes us we can always lean to Jesus. When ever this life bears us down with the cares of this life we can go to Jesus and he will help with our load.''

Thanks for sharing cimi, God bless sister
