prayers and advice

Hi. I joined this group to ask for prayer and advice for my family. My eleven year old stepson lives with me and my husband. He has been diagnosed with high functioning autism, adhd, oppositional defiance as well as a sensory seeking processing disorder. We have had custody of him for three years and we have some complex family issues. I feel that the defiance and adhd symptoms and other behaviors look more like bipolar symptoms and his mom is bipolar. There are many things my husband and I disagree on. The biggesst issue is medication. My husband took him off of all medications when we had custody because his mother had him on four different high doses of meds so she could handle him. While I think he used to be on too much medication, I feel with no medication he is a safety threat at times to himself and others around him. Life is extremely difficult. My husband and I have been married for almost seven years and there are times I just want to quit, but I love my husband and stepson. I also know what the bible says about divorce. Some days are so overwhelming and I feel like I am just waiting for my stepson to go to bed and start it all over the next day. Prayers and advice on how to cope would be much appreciated.

In addition to what I sent you in pm, let me add that you need to have some time for yourself.
Time to chill. Time to pray. Time to gather yourself. Maybe even time to let off some steam.

I suggest finding a special needs support group in your area.
They can share what works and what doesn't. They can
help you find various "supports" to aid him. There are
rights he has in school. A support group will help you learn
what those are and how to persue them.

If ya need help finding one, let me know.
Know that you and your family are in our prayers.
