Online medical resources?

Hi guys,

With all the information you could ever imagine (or want to imagine) at your fingertips via the big W-W-W, was wondering if anyone obtained health information online and if so what websites do you use.

Because it is against Oasis policy to post outside websites you can just describe the site and its source and if anyone would like specific links feel free to pm your brother or sister who posted!

Some thoughts on this subject... it is very important not to replace information online with your doctor's recommendations, even if you specifically went online to research something as a "second opinion". In my experience most doctors are ok with patients educating thru the internet on specific doctor approved sites IF the doctor has also given them an explanation and their own literature and test results so that the patient fully understands. There will always be opinion as to what's best for the individual. That's why it is good to stick with FACTS about illnesses, medications, and treatment.

On the flip side, there are peeps who can tend to get how should I say... very wrapped up in info learned on the net, so much so that it creates more problems than good. Getting anxious and worried over whether or not one has certain symptoms of certain illnesses can really mess with your mind hence mess with your body. This is where again, speaking from experience I would like to encourage everyone to always seek counsel with our Great Healer as well :) Yes, you may need to take the medication in order to heal; yes, you may need to see a doctor at certain times to follow up on how you are doing; BUT, remember God and His Truth can also be a very important adjunct medicine to your treatment!

OK, I got off track there sorry... the two sites I would recommend are the WebMD site and Mayo Clinic's site. They are both comprehensive in their explanations and do cite medical professionals and research. Most of my docs have recommended these sites as well... in moderation ;)

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Love you all,
Susi
