HEY THERE !!!
I feel so at home with you which stands to reason, cuz
I am. ;)
I hope you rested well.
Hey ... Remember when we would play hide and seek as a
kid?
If we really wanted not to be found, we would look well
for the best hiding place… or we would already KNOW
where we were going to hide because we thought about it
in advance. We would never hide in a place that we were
uncomfortable and/or felt unsafe. We found a place, hid
and tried to get as comfortable and as quiet as we could because we
knew it was going to be a while before they found us, IF
they found us at all. We
could hear our own breathing and would even try and
silence that, by holding our breath when the seeker was
near.
Something so simple, yet made us
feel safe for some reason.
We’ve always looked for hiding places, haven’t we?
Whether they be physical places, or places within our
self.
Like when we knew it was about to happen, we may have just
numbed out or thought really hard about something else
as to take us away in our minds from what was happening.
We hid deep within our self so we couldn’t feel and
wouldn't experience it. And if we did remember, we would
try to forget what happened by finding other escapes
even years afterward.
It
was a place that made us feel safe. Like a blanket or a stuffed animal
that we had when we were
young. We would drag that
thing around everywhere with us. We didn't care what
people would say when we were little. That was our
security. Our friend. Our comfort. NOTHING would
separate us from our beloved object of comfort. They
even became addictions.
As we got older, we discovered more ‘adult
addictions’ that may have given us comfort and an escape
for a very short time, but they never lasted did they?
Sooo… we would try something else… just to find that
hiding place again.
From bottles of pills stashed around the house to food stocked up
in our fridge to binge on later to wine, beer or liquor
bottles
here and there...
More addictions
we may have encountered are cutting, purging, not
eating,
porn, cybering,
etc;
T he list just doesn't seem
to end.
Uh oh...
Looks like traffic has picked up a little bit here.
How
about you read this short study while I find a way out
of this for us.
You just sit back, relax, and read for a
few minutes.
Hey… there IS more to life than quick fix after quick
fix.
The quick fix
is just a vicious cycle that never ends.
The end result
is us being enslaved by the addiction adding more sorrow and
pain.
Hey ...
I just had a weird idea.
Let’s try a NEW
hiding place. Since nothing else has worked before what
do we have to lose?
I
read about a totally different kind of hiding place that has no
negative after effects and is eternal and not temporal.
Check this out:
Psalm
17:8
Keep me as the apple
of the eye,
hide me
under the shadow of
thy wings,
|
Psalm 31:20
Thou shalt hide them
in the secret of thy
presence from the
pride of man: thou shalt keep them
secretly in a
pavilion from the
strife of tongues.
|
Psalm 32:7
Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble;
thou shalt compass me about with
songs of deliverance.
|
Psalm 91:1
He that
dwelleth in the secret
place
of the most High shall
abide under the shadow of the
Almighty.

According
to this... Our SOULS can hide with God.
Though someone may have
touched our bodies, because they decided to make a wrong
choice against us, they did not and can not touch our
soul unless WE allow them to by continually pondering on
what they did.
Let's
consider hiding our soul in Jesus
and maybe we can find PEACE.
This is
really a COOL radio station isn't it?
Check out this song:
Hide my soul by Avalon
Here I am with nothing left to
say
How can I even speak?
All my dreams
Life scattered like ashes
beneath my feet
Can you see the pain behind the
smiles
The tears run down my face
Will the sun ever shine on me
again?
Where can I hide, oh, oh?
Where can I hide, oh, oh?
Where can I hide, oh, oh?
I will hide my soul in Jesus
I will rest my heart in Him
When the storms of life rush
over me
I will not let them in
There will be no pain in heaven
But for now and until then
I will hide my soul in Jesus
Now I know there's nothing I can
do
Nothing that I can say
You alone are the anchor of my
soul
Don't let me slip away
Can you see all the pain behind
my smile
The tears run down my face?
Will the sun ever shine on me
again?
Where can I hide, oh, where can
I hide, where can I hide?

Oh
how cool, another great song.
Let's really listen to the lyrics on this one.
Hiding Place-
Jars of Clay
Amidst the
sorrows of the
way
Lord Jesus,
teach my soul to
pray
Let me taste Thy
special grace
And run to
Christ, my
hiding place
You know the
vileness of my
heart
So prone to act
the rebel's part
And when You
veil Your lovely
face
How can I find a
hiding place
Hiding place,
hiding place
Lord, guide my
wandering feet
Draw me to Thy
mercy seat
I've nought to
trust but
sovereign grace
Thou only art my
hiding place
How unstable is
my heart
Sometimes I take
the tempter's
part
And slight the
tokens of Thy
grace
And seem to want
no hiding place
Hiding place,
hiding place
But when Thy
spirit shines
within
Makes me feel
the plague of
sin
And how I long
to see Thy face
'Tis then I want
a hiding place
Lord Jesus,
shine and then I
can
Feel sweetness
in salvation's
plan
And as a sinner
plead for grace
Christ, the
sinner's hiding
place
And as a sinner
plead for grace
Christ, the
sinner's hiding
place

The Lord can be
our new hiding place.
Lets give it a try. See what
happens. We have nothing to lose.
Psalm 61:4 I will abide in thy tabernacle
for ever: I will trust in the
covert of thy wings.
|
Deuteronomy 33:27
The eternal God is thy refuge,
and underneath are the
everlasting arms: and he shall
thrust out the enemy from before
thee; and shall say, Destroy
them.
|
Psalms 9:9
The LORD also
will be a refuge
for the
oppressed, a
refuge in times
of trouble.
|
Psalms 18:2
The LORD is my rock,
and my fortress, and
my deliverer; my
God, my strength, in
whom I will trust;
my buckler, and the
horn of my
salvation, and my
high tower.
|
Psalms 31:1
In thee, O LORD, do I put my
trust; let me never be ashamed:
deliver me in thy righteousness.
|
Psalms 32:7
Thou art my hiding place; thou
shalt preserve me from trouble;
thou shalt compass me about with
songs of deliverance.

All this sounds
easier said than done, huh?
Nah… we can
overcome what was and strive to obtain
this.
Whenever we have
a craving for one of our additions… let’s try to
turn to God instead.
If we’re really
serious about giving this a try (since everything
else has failed us anyway…what do we have to
lose?)… let’s take some action to show ourselves
how serious we are.
Let’s write down
those and other positive Bible verses and place them where we know we
will see them… maybe even where we fulfill our
addition cravings…
A post it on the
computer…
A note on the
refrigerator…
An index card on
the bathroom mirror…
We know the
place where we will see them the most…
Then, when we
are tempted to fall into our old ways, start
reading the verses. Read them out loud. Make
them our prayer as we hide in God’s shadow.
Keep repeating
the verses. Keep praying… all the way until we
feel the craving subdue.
Let’s write the
verses if that helps us focus our mind better.
We are trying to find something else to focus
on.
Blast some
Christian music. Sing along with the words if
we know them.
Go on a walk
(AWAY from the craving), look around at all the
scenery, and thank God for everything He made
(including us).
Choose to look
around
Christianity Oasis and read some of the
studies, programs, play the games listen to the
awesome music and all the other inspiring things
it has to offer.
One side note
though…
While we’re
praying… we have to BELIEVE it will work.
Whatever we
believe will happen… will happen.
If we believe we
are not going to be able to overcome this stupid
addition that has started to take control of our
lives… Then our prayers will seem unanswered…
because God is giving us what we believe to be
true.
BUT… if we
believe that hiding under God’s wing is more
comfort than our additions… and pray and BELIEVE
that HE will diminish the craving… then we will
receive.
Believe to
receive.
Psalms 46:1
God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.

Wow. We took a
lot in today. Let's pull over and rest for a while.
We have been resting together for all of
our lives.
Some nights were pretty good. Some were
not.
But we are still standing aren't we.
KNOW WHO I AM YET?
Before we journal today, here is some more of the reading material
that I brought along for us.
MAKE SURE YOU RETURN TO THE HOME PAGE TO CONTINUE THE
TRIP TOMORROW
