On another occasion while Jesus was in Jerusalem during the feast days, He was by the sheep market on the north side of the Temple where there is a pool, which in Hebrew is called Bethesda, which had five porches. On these porches lay a great multitude of crippled folk, of blind, immobilized, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water, because an Angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and stirred the water. Whoever then, after the stirring of the water first stepped in was healed of whatever disease he had. Is that remarkable, or what?

A certain man was there, who had an infirmity for thirty eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been crippled for a long time, He said to him, Do you wish to be made well? The man left, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. The Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to slay Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath day, but Jesus answered them, My Father works still, and I work. So the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only had broken the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.

Then Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, The Son can do nothing of Himself, only what He sees the Father do: for whatever things God does, the Son does likewise. For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He does: and He will show Him greater works than these, so that you may be in awe. For as the Father raises up the dead, and gives them life; the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son, so that all men should honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. He that doesn’t honor the Son doesn’t honor the Father which has sent Him.

Truly, truly, I say to you, He that hears my word, and believes in God that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Truly, truly, I say to you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father has life in Himself; so has He given to the Son to have life in Himself; and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of man.

And you don’t have His word abiding in you: for whom He has sent, you don’t believe.

Search the scriptures. In them you think you have eternal life: and the scriptures testify of me, and you will not come to me, that you might have life. I receive not honor from men. But I know you, that you don’t have the love of God in you.

I am here in my Father's name, and you don’t welcome me. But if another shall come in his own name, him you will believe. How can you believe, who receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that comes from God only?

Don’t think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuses you, which is Moses, in whom you trust. For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me, because he wrote of me. But if you don’t believe his writings, how shall you believe my words?
