Do you know and understand the whole Truth of the Temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness story? I mean it is hard to imagine, Jesus tempted by Satan. However, people are making movies about the Jesus Temptation, but they are lies. The true temptation of Jesus Christ is clearly written in the Bible and you'll find that He overcame all.

Let's see what occurs next in our The Temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness study of our Lord Jesus and what He suffered for us to be safe ... Unconditional Love. Remember we just found John baptizing people and John even baptized Jesus, Himself as it was written.

After Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, and being full of the Holy Ghost, Jesus was led by the Spirit to endure the Temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness event. While there, Jesus was provoked, tested and even the unimaginable ... Jesus tempted by Satan for forty days. During those days, Jesus had nothing to eat and He was hungry.

Uh huh, here comes Jesus tempted by Satan #1. The devil said to Jesus, If you're the Son of God, command these stones to turn into bread. But Jesus answered saying,

It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that comes from the mouth of God.

Now, we know that Satan knew that Jesus was the Son of God. So, why say "If you are the Son of God," do this or that? Satan was trying to cause doubt and confusion with the physical state of Jesus during those 40 days. Imagine your physical condition under such horrific conditions. The devil did all that he could, hoping Jesus would fail the test.

Then the next Temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness was presented when the devil took Jesus up to Jerusalem and set Him on a pinnacle of the Temple and mocked Him saying, If you're the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written, God's Angels will watch over you and protect you in case you dash your foot against a stone. Jesus said to him,

It is also written, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

After that Jesus Temptation, the devil took Jesus up to a high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory in a moment of time. He said to Jesus, I'll give you all of this, if you will worship me. Jesus replied,

Get behind me Satan. It is written, Thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou worship.

Why was Jesus tempted by Satan? We, like our Lord Jesus are oft times tempted and lied to by the devil. During the Temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness, Jesus used Truth to overpower the lies of darkness. Let's learn from the Jesus Temptation and reveal the Truth to the lies with Scripture ... God's Word.

When the devil ended the temptation of Jesus, he left Jesus, and the Angels came and ministered to Jesus. He returned to Jordan. John the Baptist had been put into prison by Herod, so Jesus heard this and went into Galilee.

When you read this Jesus tempted by Satan story, you may think that knowing it was the devil, anyone would and could have resisted Satan. That, friend is the whole trick of the devil. He does not want us to know it is him that is behind the scene when he tempts God's children. We have to learn to recognize that most of the temptation in our lives is from the devil!

Here is a small tidbit from the Temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness ... Satan is not going to materialize in the shape of a little red man with a pitchfork on your shoulder whispering in your ear while your Guardian Angel stands on the other shoulder giving you good advice.

He's gonna make things look real enticing and sometimes even try and make it all seem ... Righteous. So beware of everything and always search for the Truth in all matters. Pray for Jesus to guide you whenever temptation comes along. Who is there better to ask, than the only one in the world without sin, who was never once tricked by the devil's lies?
