Letters to Friends

Dearest friend,

Bless your heart, I know it's difficult to withstand the senseless behavior of others. The Bible says be angry, but don't sin. God understands our pain and anger. We can have anger, we just should not act on it in words or actions. This causes another problem--internal anger eats us up. You already know this. Maybe this is why God asks us to forgive. To keep us from making ourselves sick, stressed, and depressed.

Another reason to forgive is in Mark 11:25. If we don't, Jesus says God doesn't hear our prayers OR forgive us the sins we commit. This is pretty harsh, but God holds us to higher standards, as Christians.

But how do we forgive such awful behavior? We don't excuse the behavior by forgiveness, we forgive the individual. They are are accountable to God (and the authorities!) for their behavior. We can't judge ... that's God's job. So, we pray and ask God for help to forgive ... you won't 'feel' it, but you can CHOOSE to do it.

You can say, "I choose to forgive ______ because I love God, and it's what He asks me to do. Mark 11:23-24 says that if I tell the mountain (of unforgiveness) to move, and believe in my heart that it does, (because God performs it) then it will. I forgive ______ and know in my heart God forgives me my weaknesses also."

This is also known as 'praying for our enemies', as Jesus instructed us to do. He basically told us, it's not a stretch to pray for our friends and family, that's easy and anyone can do it.. The mark of a true believer comes when you do something that costs you--pray for your enemies. This praying for them brings God's action into their lives, and if they don't change, then God's judgment comes on them.

It all works to our benefit, because God is on the side of His dear children...that's you. So, I know this sounds really hard, but you don't have to do it alone. God is right there and is ready to help.

He will show them to be in the wrong ... for you. He will thwart their actions ... for you. He will either get their attention and bring them to repentance, or He will bring judgment on them ... for you.

So, the sooner you begin forgiving, the better it gets. I'm rooting for you, my friend.

Love, Kimberly

So, please tell me what you think.

Thanks, Kim
