The Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible Study
Part One

Let's start by sharing a little tidbit about the Sermon on the Mount also known as the Beatitude. What does the term "beatitude" mean? A beatitude is a declaration of blessedness.

Now, as we've learned, multitudes of people followed Jesus everywhere. Everyone wanted to touch Him and be healed, and when they did, virtue (strength) left Him. Then Jesus went up into a mountain and sat down with His disciples and began to teach them. The next few chapters of Matthew are known as the Sermon on the Mount.

Our Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study will now share what was given in the Jesus Sermon ...

  • Blessed are the poor in spirit (humble), theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
  • Blessed are those who mourn, they will be comforted.
  • Blessed are the meek, they will inherit the earth.
  • Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, they will be filled.
  • Blessed are the merciful, they will receive mercy.
  • Blessed are the pure in heart (sincere), they will see God.
  • Blessed are the peacemakers, they will be called the children of God.
  • Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
  • Blessed are you when men condemn you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of wicked things about you because of me.
  • Rejoice and be exceptionally glad, your reward in Heaven is great.
  • They persecuted the prophets before you the same way.

You are the salt of the earth but if the salt loses it's taste, how can it flavor anything? It becomes good for nothing but to be thrown away and stepped on underfoot. What did Jesus mean by salt of the earth? He meant that they had the noblest human qualities.

The Jesus Sermon continues, You are the light of the world. A city that is built on a hill can't be hidden, and people don't light a candle and put it under a bushel, but they place it upon a candlestick, and it gives light to everyone in the house. Jesus was telling His disciples that they were chosen. He said, Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.

Our Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study reveals the Wisdom, Love and Spiritual teaching from our Lord. The Jesus Sermon continues ... Don't think that I've come to destroy the law or what the prophets have said. I haven't come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. So whoever breaks one of the least of the commandments and teaches others to, will be called the least in Heaven, but whoever keeps and teaches them, will be called great in Heaven. Unless you're more righteous than the scribes and Pharisees, there's no way you'll enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

You've heard what was said before, You shall not kill, and whoever kills will be in danger of the judgment, but I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother without a reason will be in danger of the judgment. And whoever calls his brother worthless will be in danger of the council, but whoever calls his brother a fool will be in danger of hell fire. So, if you bring a gift to the altar and while you're there you remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift in front of the altar. First make up with your brother and then go and offer your gift.

Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study translation ... In other words ... Before you can have Effective Christian Prayer, commune with God or give any type of sacrifice to God, or even read the Bible properly, you must forgive all.

Remember that Jesus' audience at the Jesus Sermon on the Mount were His many followers. The truths that He told them are in the pages of our Bibles that are read in every nation on the face of the earth even today, over 2,000 years later. And it's because it is pure truth that it hasn't faded away or been forgotten and never will. Salvation is not just a fantasy for people who are weak in courage and fear death. It is real. Our Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study proves that Jesus wasn't just some good salesman who sold an idea that prospered. Everything He said was the Truth.

Here's an interesting little tidbit of information. Alfred B. Nobel (1833-96), founder of the Nobel Peace Prize, was the inventor of dynamite. A little ironic, wouldn't you say? Now, you won't remember that next month probably, but the kind of peace that Jesus spoke of when He said, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace, Luke 7:50, has been remembered through generations on end.

The Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible Study
Part Two

Matthew 5:25-48

Luke 6:24-36

Next in Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, He was talking to His disciples and teaching them about truth and righteousness. He said, Agree with your enemy quickly, while you have the opportunity, or he might at any time turn you over to the judge and the judge may turn you over to the officer and you end up in prison. I tell you the truth, there's no way you'll be released until you've paid the highest price.

You've heard that in former times they said, You shall not commit adultery, but I say to you, whoever looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

In other words, Jesus was saying, If you think it, you've done it. Control your thoughts. Just because no other human being knows what they are, God still does.

Jesus continued, And if your right eye causes you to fall in sinful ways, pluck it out, and throw it away from you, because it's better to lose one part of you than for your whole body be thrown into hell. If your right hand causes you to fall in sinful ways, cut it off, it's better that one part of you should perish than your whole body be thrown into hell.

Here is another Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study translation ... Nobody wants a bunch of blind people without hands walking around. So, Jesus is saying that it is better to have this done than to end up in Hell. We should avoid looking into sinful things and make sure we do not act on them. Now let's continue with Jesus' Words.

It's been said, Whoever puts away his wife, let him divorce her, but I say, Whoever puts away his wife except for the reason of fornication, causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Whoa ... We better talk about this one for a minute ... How about a small Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study trivia ... How many men are married to divorced women in this day and age? Are they all committing adultery? Many very well may be. However ... The issue of divorce itself is a tough one these days. Many families have been torn asunder by this question of the heart. Let us seek more depth of the Truth in scripture. 1 Corinthians 7:12-17 ... It says that if a woman has a husband who is not a believer, and the man wants her to stay, let her not leave him because the husband is sanctified by the wife's belief. This is because when two marry they become one. This sanctification includes your children.

Now ... This statement was made by Paul. In verse 12 he shares that this is his opinion, not the Lord's command. Many religious leaders like to use this "ruling" to keep women in abusive relationships only to have the relationship end in bitterness and even death ...

The Bible also says that what God brought together, let no man put asunder. However, that brings up the real question of this topic ... Does God honor every marriage license? In particular in today's society where most go from 'hello' to 'I do' before establishing a foundation in friendship. The obvious result is division by divorce as the marriage was never meant to be.

Here is a Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study question for you ... Is it not God's will to have them apart as they were not meant to ever be married and made a poor choice? Is God then divided against Himself because He wants Love to be forever? God forbid. It is mankind's use of marriage that has brought on the divisions. True marriage is the union of two minds, hearts and souls and they become one in Love.

So before you go get another divorce, because someone says you are living in sin because you are married to a divorced woman, or you are the divorced woman that remarried ... Ponder on the fact that if God did not honor a marriage ... They were never married.

So if the person married again ... They are not committing adultery but rather had removed themselves from sin because the person was never married in God's eyes. Just on man's paper.

Whether God deems a specific marriage real or not becomes the question to ponder. The Truth my friend is that only the Lord knows of your true situation and what He wants you to do and what is best for you, so you must find out from Him what it is that you are to do. Religious leaders, friends, family, Paul and I can share our opinions but only God can discern the Truth of this particular matter and guide you down the right path.

Back to the Here is a Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study ... Jesus then said in the Jesus sermon ... You've also heard it said by those in old times, You shouldn't make promises that you won't keep, but you should keep your promises to the Lord. But, I say to you, Don't swear at all, neither by Heaven because it's God's throne, or by earth because it's His footstool, nor by Jerusalem because it's the city of the great King. Don't even swear by your own head, because you can't make one hair on it white or black.

Here is another Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study question ... How many times have you promised something and wished you hadn't? Jesus' Words of Truth are so true! Make no promises because you may not be able to keep the promise and find yourself in trouble for breaking a promise when a promise was never required.

When you speak, let your conversation be, Yea, yea; or nay, nay, because anything more than that is out of an evil heart. How many times have you spouted off about something and wished you hadn't? How many times have you gotten yourself in trouble by something you said and then (in pride) you had to say more that got you into more trouble, and so on?

If we could only turn back time and just simply say yes or no, and leave it at that, how happy we might be. Well, today is the first day of the rest of your life. It's never too late to start a new good habit right now.

You've heard, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth, but I say don't run away from evil, but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the left cheek too.

Here is a bit of a Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study translation ... Many times we are attacked by someone and our first thoughts are ... fight or flight. Usually we say horrible things to defend ourselves. Other times we run away in fear. Even the devil wants you to run away scared. Fear is of the devil. When you turn your cheek by exposing evil for what it is, you're telling the devil, You are wrong, and I am strong in the Lord! the answer is not fight or flight ... The answer is to roll with the punches and share Truth. Your enemy, whether it be man or the devil, are not gonna bother you so eagerly the next time, or the next, or the next ... Because Truth ... Sets you free.

If anyone sues you and takes away your coat, give him your cloak too. Whoever asks you to go a mile, go with him two. Give to those who ask you, and don't turn away anyone who wants to borrow from you.

You've heard it said, You should love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you and pray for those who maliciously use you and condemn you, so you may be the children of your Father in Heaven. He makes His sun shine on the evil as well as the good, and sends rain on the good and the bad.

If you love those who love you, what extraordinary thing have you done? Don't the tax collectors even do that? If you're gracious only to your loved ones, what do you do that is better than others do? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect. In the gospel according to Luke, it says, Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. In either case, both are Truth.

All the things that Jesus taught can be applied to our lives today. All the things that He spoke of are analogies in one way or another of every problem that has ever confronted you ... Or will. You just have to dig deep and find the truth in His Word.

Be sure to keep these things in mind after you turn off your computer and you get back to the busy-ness of your life. Remember to control your thoughts, and the Word of God is the best "food" for thought.

The Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible Study
Part Three

Matthew 6:1-21

What would you give to have heard Jesus speak the Words that He spoke to His disciples on that mountain that day? You can imagine that those that were there, had their life change and they were never the same since. Every single topic that Jesus spoke about is filled with so much wisdom, that you just have to stop between each one and let it sink in and flood your mind with the undeniable Truth of it all.

Let's learn what He said next in the Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study event.

Be sure you don't give your gifts to the needy so that people can see you do it, otherwise you have no reward from your Father in Heaven. Why is that you ask? Because if you want approval from man, then you've already been paid your reward, so there is no need for God to reward you. So, no trumpets to announce your giving like the hypocrites do so that man will admire them, truly, that's their reward. But when you give, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so your charity is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret, will reward you Himself, openly.

More Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study trivia ... What does it mean, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing? It means to keep it a secret, perhaps even from yourself. You don't want to pat your own back too hard when you do a good deed. Leave the reward giving to God. It may be that if you commend yourself, that may be your reward as well, and if the Lord sees you've already gotten your reward, there will be no need for Him to give you one.

The same is true about prayer. Prayer is a very private thing to God. It's for His ears only, and to display it for others to see, well ... Just read the two paragraphs before this one. Jesus said ... When you pray, go into your closet and when you've shut the door, then pray. ... Prayer is between you and God.

A closet was a small private room used for prayer and meditation, so there's no need for you to go into your clothes closet to pray, but to pray in secret is what Jesus meant. Not aloud in the marketplace as to edify yourself. Prayer is private. It is a telephone call between the person and God. Not to be placed on a loudspeaker so others think you are this holy one.

Jesus gave us instructions on how to pray. He said ... When you pray, don't use vain repetitions, like the heathen do. They think that they'll be heard for their lengthy prayers. That could mean a few different things. Chanting would be a vain repetition. Also, saying the same prayer every day would be a vain repetition, if you are just reciting words to make you feel like you've done a devotion. If you're praying just so you can get your time card punched by Heaven, that is a vain repetition. If there is a blessing that you want from God, it is certainly fine to ask Him repeatedly for it. Jesus even spoke about that in parables in Luke 11:5-13 and Luke 18:1-8. Sometimes, our timing isn't God's timing because our perspective of time is only a lifetime, but His perspective is eternity.

You are showing the sincerity of your wish for God's blessing when you pray repeatedly from your heart, but if you drone on, it is a vain repetition. You don't have to spend hours on end praying for one thing. God knows your needs before you even ask Him. When by the influence of the Holy Spirit, the apostle Paul wrote, Pray without ceasing, in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, he didn't mean to say the same thing over and over and over again until your mind is even thinking of other things while you're speaking your prayer. He meant to pray about everything, always. Just think of it from God's point of view. When you pray, you are communing with God. How would you like it if your children said the same thing to you every day? What if they didn't really talk to you, but like a memorized poem, they said the same exact thing every day, every time, except when they felt they were desperate, then you could really hear some genuine emotion and words. Wouldn't it make you a little suspicious of their sincerity?

Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study tip ... Talk to your Father from your heart. Invite Him to be with you. When you pray, He wants you to love Him, seek for Him, listen for His voice ... Wait for Him. Long for His presence to be with you and when you realize that prayer isn't just about rattling off your list of requests and then politely saying Amen (which many of us in our modern rush-rush society have translated into "Gotta run, Bye") you can begin a real relationship with Him.

Ask Him what His purpose is for your life. Not just in the long term, but even for that very day. Look for His answers in the pages of your Bible, in a friends voice, in a verse of a song that may stand out to you or suddenly enter your mind. Change your outlook on prayer. Instead of using it as a guilt release, make it what it's supposed to be; an intimate confession of love to God. It's a time to share your life with Him, your hopes, your desires, your worries, your gratefulness, your praise, your weakness ... Your everything.

Then Jesus said, This is the manner in which to pray.

Our Father which art in Heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the Kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen

Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study tidbit ... Okay now don't forget, He didn't say this is the only prayer you should say. That would be the repetition that He just said not to do in the two sentences before it.

Now here is an interesting thing. We've revealed before, that Jesus is all about forgiveness. The only thing that He goes on to reinforce is the part about forgiveness. He said, For if you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if you don't, neither will your Father forgive yours.

The next thing Jesus talks about is fasting. The same things apply to fasting as do for praying or giving to the poor. It is secret, between you and God.

A very well remembered part of Jesus Sermon on the Mount is the next three verses, Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust do corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust do corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

When anything on this earth comes between you and God, it is closer to God than you are.

There's no time like the present to evaluate what you treasure. If it's a person, chances are that God gave them to you, and Jesus didn't mean that you shouldn't be thankful for His blessings. But you can be certain that if there is anything else that is tangible that you put before God, it will not last. Many times, He gives us time to figure these things out on our own, but if it becomes sinful, an obsession of any kind, or it interferes with your relationship with Him, the things you love the most, He will take away. At first, it may hurt, but when you realize that He is removing whatever is keeping you from being closer to Him, or potentially losing your salvation, you'll be more than happy to give it up and you'll bid it good riddance too!

The Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible Study
Part Four

Let's see what other beautiful Words of wisdom the Lord shared with the disciples on that mountain. The light (lamp) of the body is the eye, so if your eye is clear, your whole body will be filled with light. But, if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light that is in you is darkness, how terrible is that darkness!

What does that mean exactly? Well, you may have heard before of someone giving someone the evil eye. An evil eye is a look or a glance thought to be capable of inflicting injury or misfortune on someone. Have you ever hurt someone in any way and then when you finally lose the bad spirit that convinced you to do it, you feel like dirt?

Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study aha moment ... That's the darkness Jesus was talking about. Whether it was the darkness (ignorance) of the evil, or the darkness (sorrow) afterward, it doesn't really matter. It is thick darkness. We see evil happening around us all the time, yet when it comes from us, that is the darkest of all. There is a similar proverb that Jesus spoke in Matthew 15:11 that explains this perfectly. Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

No man can serve two masters. He'll hate the one and love the other, or else he'll be faithful to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. Does that mean you can't be rich and serve God? No, it doesn't mean that at all. We'll borrow a few verses from the first letter that Paul wrote to Timothy to answer that question. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 says in a nutshell, Advise those people in this world who are rich, not to act better than others, or trust in material wealth, but trust in the living God who gives us all things generously. Be righteous and be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, and building a good foundation for the future so they can obtain eternal life.

The Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible study continues ... Don't worry about your life, what you'll eat or drink, or for your body, what you'll wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store, but your Heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they are? Which one of you, by worrying can add one cubit to his height? (A cubit is an ancient measure based on the length of the forearm from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger, usually from 17 to 21 inches.)

And why do you worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't work, or spin, but even Solomon in all his glory wasn't dressed like one of these. So if God dresses the grass of the field which is here today and tomorrow is thrown in the oven, won't He clothe you all the more, O you with little faith?

So don't worry, wondering what will we eat or what will we drink or what will we wear? Your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But instead, desire the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you. Don't worry about tomorrow, it will have it's own worries. Today's evil (problems) is enough for today.

Think about worry this way too. Worry turns to fret, fret turns to fear, and fear is of the devil. Faith sounds like a much more pleasant alternative.

The Sermon on the Mount is so packed with greatness that you'll want to study it slowly like we have been, so you don't miss a thing. Each little part of it, has so many different things that can relate to it ... Ponder on them all!

The Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible Study
Part Five

Matthew 7:1-14

Luke 6:31, 37-42

We're well into our study of the Sermon on the mount now, and although we've talked about the differences in the Gospels because of the four different people who wrote them, have you ever considered the undeniable accuracy of these four separate authors as well? We know they didn't sit down together at some point and agree that this is how the story goes. With all the differences taken into consideration, it's amazing how these writers remembered not only what Jesus said and where He was when He said it, but the sequence of the stories are incredibly precise when you compare them.

Sure there's a word or two that differ, but how do you explain the distinct similarities? They didn't have tape recorders to remember every syllable by, and remember, Mark and Luke weren't even there! The answer to the question is divine inspiration. You can find confirmation of this in two places, 2 Peter 1:21, and 2 Timothy 3:16-17. As you can see from these two passages, this applies to all scripture, not just the Gospels.

Some of the things that Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, although there are millions of analogies that can be applied to them, just don't need any further explanation, like this verse:

Judge not, and you will not be judged, condemn not, and you will not be condemned, forgive others and you will be forgiven.

Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible Study food for thought ... Now, you have to wonder if Jesus knew the feeling of opening a bag of potato chips and finding it half empty and then reading the back of the bag where it says "Contents may settle while shipping," when He said, Give and it will be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you measure everything, it will be measured back to you again.

And why are you so quick to see the sliver in your brother's eye, but you fail to see the beam that's in your own eye? Or how could you say, Brother, let me pull out the sliver that is in your eye, when you yourself don't see the beam that's in your own eye? You hypocrite, first pull the plank out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to pull the speck out of your brother's eye.

Don't give that which is Holy to the dogs, or throw pearls to the swine, because they'll trample them underfoot and turn around again and attack you. What did Jesus mean by that? Of course you're not gonna do that! Perhaps He meant that if there is something that is obviously unrighteous, don't spend your valuable life on it, because it will hurt you. Evil has no conscience, like a pig with pearls.

A

Ask, and it shall be given to you;

S

Seek, and you shall find;

K

Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

If your son asked for bread, would you give him a stone? If he asked for fish, would you give him a serpent? If you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give to those who ask Him?

The next verse in the Jesus Sermon on the Mount is popularly known as the Golden Rule. Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. Does it make you wonder why they teach this to us as small children in school, but they've made it unlawful to say that it's the teaching of Jesus? Do you anticipate that someday in school, they'll teach kids the theory of relativity, but it'll be against the law to mention that Einstein came up with it? Me neither.

Strange, isn't it? Sadly enough, only if Einstein is someday accused of being a Christian, then maybe they'd do the same, but it seems as though they've missed the point altogether, doesn't it? Oh, shucks, that's right, they didn't have copyright laws when Jesus came up with that one, now did they? Well, we could go on and on and on about this one, but a good rule to go along with the Golden Rule is: Give credit where credit is due. Moses taught us a good lesson about that in Numbers 20:12.

Enter in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction and there are many that go in there. Narrow is the way that leads to life and there are few who find it. In other words, there are many wrong paths to take that will lead you to evil, but there is only one path to righteousness.

Our next segment is the final segment about the Sermon on the Mount.

The Jesus Sermon on the Mount Bible Study
Part Six

Matthew 7:15-29

Luke 6:31, 43-49

You know, Jesus had a way with Words like nobody else ever will. One Word coming from Jesus can have so much meaning that it's difficult to put it into words. Have you ever known the meaning of a word, yet you can't think of the definition of it? You can feel the meaning, you just can't explain it. Then if you look it up in the dictionary, you thump your temple with the palm of your hand and say "Of course!" If anyone ever asks you, What is the meaning of life? There is a one Word definition that explains it perfectly ... Jesus.

Why? Because He is the answer to everything! Let's look at some more of His powerful teachings from the Sermon on the Mount. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

The Sermon on the Mount Bible Study Summary
Jesus' Sermon on the Mount Conclusion

How many times have you thought something seemed safe, yet it was dangerous or harmful? Here are some sad truths: In today's world, people think wolves (wicked things) are cool. There is no sense of danger. There is such little value of life that mankind is making it increasingly easier for satan to get his paws on people's souls. Instead of being wary of wolves, many are out searching to befriend them.

Remember what Jesus said just before this, Strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to life, and there are few that find it. Be alert. Beware. Peter said it this way in 1 Peter 5:8, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. Keep this in mind too, evil thoughts wear no clothing and they can be just as ravening and devouring as a false prophet in sheep's clothing. It's one of satan's best disguises of all ... Invisibility. Don't be tricked into thinking that just because you can't see something, it isn't dangerous. How do you know when it isn't obvious, if something is evil, dangerous, wicked, wrong, etc.?

Jesus said, You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles? What does He mean, fruits ? The product or result that comes from something is it's fruits. If you see something good come from something that you thought and/or put into action, then it is a good fruit. If something bad happened because of something that someone did or thought, the fruits of it were bad. Jesus explained, A good tree can't bring forth bad fruit, and a bad tree can't bring forth good fruit. Every tree that doesn't bring forth good fruit is cut down and thrown in the fire, so decide by their fruits. So you can tell if something is good or bad, wrong or right by it's fruits ... Including people.

Jesus went on to say in the Jesus Sermon on the Mount, that many people will do good things and bad things and when their end comes they'll only give an account of their good fruit. But Jesus said, Not every one that calls me Lord will enter the Kingdom of Heaven; only those who do the will of my Father in Heaven. They'll proclaim their faithfulness and say, didn't we preach in your name and in your name cast out demons, didn't we do all kinds of wonderful things in your name? Jesus said, And then I'll say to them, I never knew you, leave me, you sinners.

As Jesus was finishing the Jesus Sermon on the Mount teaching, He said, Whoever hears these lessons that I teach and does them, is like a wise man that built his house on a rock, and the rain came down and the floods emerged and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it didn't fall because it was built on a rock. And everyone who hears these lessons that I teach and doesn't do them, is like a foolish man that built his house on the sand, and the rain came, and the floods emerged, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it fell, and it was a terrible fall.

We're not God's robots that He wanted to program and do whatever He wants with. He gave us choice, and He wants us to choose the right things. When Jesus was finished teaching, the people were amazed at His wisdom because He didn't teach like others, they could feel the power in His teaching.

Put His power in your life. Live by His teachings. Apply them to your life today. The doctrine that Jesus taught will never be obsolete, it will remain forever.
