SIBLING FAMILY RIVALRY DIVISION
It came to pass,
that when they came to the Jordan, they built an altar there as a sign
of their relationship with the people, their brethren, on the other side
of the river.

The Hebrews from the
east side of the Jordan explained their motives for building the altar,
that it might be a sign of their unity, and that their children might
never say to one another in the future that they don't belong to God.
