A New Day

A New Day

One day like another?
"Of course not," I said -
"For this day is one I
shall never forget."

A new life began,
I sat there, that night -
A life filled with hope...
trading wrong for the right.

I eagerly listened - the
Word preached so clear -
Could it be?...Was it true?
Did God really care?

Could He love even me -
take my burdens to bear?
Could He heal all the scars
that were resident there?

The preacher, it seemed,
looking right down at me,
asked, "Wouldn't you like
to be free ... really free?

Free from the burdens,
the problems, the strife?
Wipe the slate clean
and begin a new life?"

As I pondered his question...
I knew he was right -
I did need a change -
A change in my life!

I opened my heart and
asked God to come in...
I begged His forgiveness -
confessed all my sin.

Many years have gone by
since that night, late in May;
the night that I yielded
to God and His way.

Yes, I've had years of joy,
and moments of strife -
But I've found the words true
God does give new life.

So, this prayer today is
especially for you -
May you open your heart
and begin Life anew!
