Noticing the Small Nuances
Nearly twenty years ago, I made the conscious decision to make the King James Version of The Bible my primary Bible. The reason -- because of the way it is written which I will call "old English" certain things stand out to me more than some of the newer versions. My eyes can glaze over while I'm reading The Bible. I can't speak for anyone else; this is just something I notice about myself.
I do, however, refer to other versions of the Bible if I'm in deep search mode. I love to research scripture and meditate on it. God also granted me this desire after I prayed and asked Him to give me a passion for reading His Word nearly twenty years ago. God is so very Good.
Early on, I started noticing the greetings and good-byes in the New Testament Books of The Bible. There is so much information in those beginning and ending scriptures in each of those Books.
Recently, I was reading The Bible and while I cannot remember exactly why I googled something to find scripture on, I came across a group of scriptures and one in particular stood out at me -- nearly jumping off my computer screen.
1 Peter 5:13 She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you her greetings, and so does my son Mark.
I thought to myself "What??? Who is she?" I've read 1st and 2nd Peter many, many times, and I didn't recognize that scripture at all. So I looked it up in my King James Version and it said: "The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son."
Ohhhhhhh, the New International Version (NIV) was referring to the church in Babylon as She. Then I saw it -- I had skimmed / glazed right over the words "The church that is at Babylon" for all those years. Was there really a Christian Church group in Babylon? Wait...is this the same as Mystery Babylon in The Book of Revelation? So, for the last month I have been searching and meditating and praying about 1 Peter 5:13. I've read numerous Bible Commentaries written by men far more educated and well versed in The Bible, and it seems the majority agree, that Peter was writing in code when he wrote Babylon. Mystery solved? Maybe. But, until my next revelation, I feel at peace. One of the things I do know about God, if I'm totally off base, He'll nudge me.
Thank You, Father God Lord Almighty, Thank You, Jesus, Thank You, Holy Spirit.
God bless you, all.
