Step 13

Postby jimf » Thu Nov 15, 2012 4:22 am

This step was short and straight to the point, but it got me thinking. Do we really believe that this world can be won to Jesus Christ ? And if so, what is our part ? My salvation is the result of trusting and recieving God's grace that is the result of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, why am I going to be judged again? 2 Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. And if He is to judge me AGAIN, what is he judging ? And more important, what am I doing about it ? Rom 14:12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. 2 Cor 13:5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? HOW ABOUT SOME FEEDBACK ? 1 Pet 3:15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

Hello Brother Jim

From my understanding we will be judged to receive our rewards.

Where those who don't know Him will be judged to receive their punishment. That is very hard to type. *pray*

Quoting a friend, "...for believer's there is the Bema Seat judgment, after which we will spend eternity in heaven."

I've not studied this only to look up beama seat.
bible.org/article/doctrine-rewards-judgment-seat-bema-christ
"Both Romans 14:10 and 2 Corinthians 5:9 speak of the “judgment seat.” This is a translation of one Greek word, the word bema. While bema is used in the ..."

Thanks Pine, I'm not trying to "test" anyone, just looking at what others think and get some insight. This is a pretty good short teaching on the BEMA SEAT - In the city of Corinth, a stone platform was constructed to support the Bema seat (judgment seat) of the local officials. The seat was used to give out awards to athletes for their competitive performances (usually a crown wreath of leaves), but also to address legal charges brought against individuals. The great Apostle Paul was quite familiar with this seat. This is where he was brought before Gallio, who was the proconsul of Achaia at the Bema seat (Acts 18:12). This seat was also what Paul referred to in 2 Corinthians 5:9-10 as the "Judgment Seat of Christ". In this context, Paul explains to us that this is where the Christian will receive an evaluation for works done in the body, whether good or bad. I'm just sharing a view and I really appreciate you replying. TY and GBU Jimf ( I also appreciate your encouragement to so many people on this site)

Hello JimF :)

God bless you this day.

My feedback -- my thoughts on being judged by The Lord: I know The Holy Spirit is doing a good work in me, now, because I am convicted the whole day long. His work re-directs me throughout my day. Sadly, sometimes I resist the gentle nudge, for a time, because the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh.

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

But, The Lord is faithful, and He continues His work in me. Thank You Lord \o/ \o/ \o/ And, through His miraculous work, I am reminded of Him and His Word in everything I do and in everything I do not do. My conscience is not seared/cauterized by an hot iron, where the blood (life) no longer flows, no, quite the contrary...my conscience is made alive and is "tuned in" to Him, by His doing. His life flows through me.

I Timothy 4:1-2 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (2) Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

I love because He loved me first. I know my own love is corrupt. The Holy Spirit and The Word tell me to reach for His love instead. If I forget, or if I resist, He keeps nudging and nudging and nudging. God is so very Good!!! When I stop forgetting or stop resisting, AGAIN, it is because of His work, not mine.

My works are evil. His works are pure and good and holy.

I trust Him and I trust in the promises of His Word. When I am before the judgment seat, I can only hope, if allowed to speak, that I'll speak as eloquently as the publican...

Luke 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

God is so very Good! Thank You Father, Son and Holy Spirit. \o/ \o/ \o/

God bless and keep you, JimF.
In Christ Jesus' love,
Sister Mack

Good word Sister Mack, I love the insight you gave me on what you've written. As I was reading your post, this scripture came to me. 1 John 4:17-18 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. It's as you wrote " And, through His miraculous work, I am reminded of Him and His Word in everything I do and in everything I do not do". Would you say as we allow Holy Spirit to lead and direct us, this is what Christ will judge our lives on ? It's not our performance being compared to others and how they lived and what they did, but simply when He led I followed and when He directed I obeyed ? Thank you and bless you for your reply. Jimf
