Why Is God Calling You?
Being Chosen By God For What?
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love
God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
Now, before you allow the enemy of our souls (Satan) to talk you into
believing that you could in no way ever be special or worthy enough
to fill the bill and the thought of little ole you being called by
God seems just a little far fetched, please ponder on this Truth ...
That is exactly the sort who God has called to serve Him. Being chosen by God means you are deemed as being of less worldly value than others. Let's confirm that, shall we?
1 Corinthians 1:26-28
26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many
wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to
confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world
to confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are
despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to
nought things that are:
Many Called Few Chosen Bible Study Tidbit of Truth ... God has chosen to use the rejects of the world if you will, to serve
Him. Those who feel that they are worthless. Those who are found to
be unworthy by the world and even oft times, by themselves. You may
be a loner or perhaps known by others and even yourself as being a
bit odd, weird, strange peculiar or unique ... That too, is
exactly who God has called.
It is written ... God has called peculiar souls to serve Him.
1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an Holy
nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the
praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His
marvellous light;
Awesome huh? So, being chosen by God means you are supposed to be ... Strange as far as the world sees you. (Unless you hide it well) God chooses those who He knows could never think more highly of themselves than they ought to and would seek only to love and serve Him. He does not want a someone who will turn on Him or trade Him up down the road (Some of us know very well how that feels) and/or desire to take the credit from Him in some vain attempt at taking His glory.
So, if you have any doubt that God would call you, because you do not
feel like some kind of superhero like many chosen people in the Bible
... Best think again.
Now, that you have a hint of belief that God is calling you ... Let
us evaluate the words that this Many Called Few Chosen program is
based upon ... What does "Many Called Few Chosen" mean? It means that
God calls many souls to serve Him, but He chooses few of them.
Many Called Few Chosen Bible Study Trivia question ... Why?
One very sad reason is because few choose to answer when God is calling. It is kinda obvious, is it not? If you needed something from someone, so you kept calling them hoping they would answer, but they would never respond or even call back. It is quite obvious by their failure to answer your call that they do not want to do whatever it is that you wanted. Jesus shared these words with us which are located in the Book of Matthew as to explain:
Matthew 22:1-14
1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by
parables, and said,
2 The Kingdom of Heaven is like unto a certain king, which
made a marriage for his son,
3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were
bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them
which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my
fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to
his farm, another to his merchandise:
6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them
spitefully, and slew them.
7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he
sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up
their city.
8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready,
but they which were bidden were not worthy.
9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye
shall find, bid to the marriage.
10 So those servants went out into the highways, and
gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good:
and the wedding was furnished with guests.
11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw
there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in
hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and
foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there
shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
God has called many souls over the years, but,only a limited amount of them answered the call. The Lord calls more now to serve Him. But, many whom He has called have elected to pursue worldly matters instead. That is why it is said ... Many Called Few Chosen, because, few choose to surrender the worldly path.
They may be Christians, but they feel obligated to follow some or all of the worldly trends and find any reason they can to explain away why they cannot answer, even knowing God is calling. The problem is that there is a large task ahead and few laborers.
Matthew 9:37-38
37 Then saith He unto His disciples,
The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will
send forth labourers into His harvest.
Being Called By God Is An Honor
When we are called and answer the calling, the Holy Spirit
gives us specific gifts to use as to fulfill God's will.
1 Corinthians 12:4-13
4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5 And there are differences of administrations, but the
same Lord.
6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the
same God which worketh all in all.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every
man to profit withal.
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to
another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the
gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another
prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds
of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit,
dividing to every man severally as He will.
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all
the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is
Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body,
whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have
been all made to drink into one Spirit.
How Is God Calling You?
Being Called By God Gift
Now, there are different types of callings, better said different
types of jobs available when we are called by the Lord ... One person
may be called to do this and another may be called to do that. These
jobs are called administrations. There are many different
administrations and these administrations are assigned based on what
our particular Spiritual gifts are, which we were given by God, which
you may not even know you possess as of yet. But, we will be
Spiritually discerning that together in more detail a little later
down the Many Called Few Chosen path.
Again ... There are many different administrations as we are told by
the Apostle Paul:
1 Corinthians 12:28
And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily
prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of
healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
The purpose of these various administrations is to bring in the sheep (Lost Souls) and
glorify God.
Ephesians 4:11-16
11 And He [Jesus] gave some, apostles; and some,
prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors
and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the Saints, for the work of the
ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the
knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of
the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and
fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of
men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the Truth in love, may grow up into him in
all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and
compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the
effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of
the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Many Called Few Chosen Bible Study Point of Interest ... This does not mean that one administration is of lesser value within
the Body of Christ. Now, what is this Body of Christ we read about?
Let's look at the description of the Body of Christ within 1
Corinthians, Chapter 12 ... This is a wonderful explanation by the
Apostle Paul, of how we are all united in Christ and how we all
should depend on and appreciate one another as well as the Spiritual
gifts that each and every one has been or will be blessed with.
Let's take a look:
1 Corinthians 12:14-27
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am
not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I
am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing?
If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in
the body, as it hath pleased Him.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of
thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to
be more feeble, are necessary:
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be
less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our
uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath
tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that
part which lacked.
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that
the members should have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer
with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in
particular.
Is God Calling You - Time to Answer
Being Called By God Is A Blessing
We are to be one body and work in harmony together. We are not
to hold pride or jealousy because we feel that another member of the
Body of Christ received "better" gifts and therefore an
administration which may be deemed as being more attractive or
honorable. Here is another quick yet potent way to look at it, we
will use the human body in this example;
In the human body, if the mouth was to say to the anus ... "Yo, look
at me, I am seen by all. I am able to voice thoughts and expressions
and I take in food that nourishes the entire body as for it to be
able to maintain health and even life itself in reality. Ain't I
something special!"
The anus, which is not as "comely" of a body part, can simply reply ... "Yes, my dear, this is true, I cannot deny it. However, if it were not for me, you would be full of it."
So, just as one human body part is as essential as the other ... One Administration within the body of Christ is just as important as the other and must be working together.
The Apostle Paul shared more on the Body of Christ in the Book of
Romans, Chapter 12:
Romans 12:4-16
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members
have not the same office:
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one
members one of another.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that
is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the
proportion of Faith;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that
teacheth, on teaching;
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth,
let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he
that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is
evil; cleave to that which is good.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly
love; in honour preferring one another;
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving
the Lord;
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing
instant in prayer;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to
hospitality.
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them
that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high
things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own
conceits.
The Apostle Paul also shared more in the epistle to the Ephesians:
Ephesians 4:1-4
1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that
ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering,
forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond
of peace.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are
called in one hope of your calling;
This ... Is Unity of the Body of Christ.
