Jonah

Jonah was a prophet of God. God told Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh and warn them that He would destroy it in 40 days if they didn't stop their wickedness. Jonah thought that whether he went, or not, that God would forgive the people of Nineveh. Jonah didn't want to go, so he tried to hide from God by getting on a ship that was going to another place. God sent a great wind into the sea because of what Jonah did, and when the people on the ship found out, they threw Jonah into the water. A great fish swallowed Jonah and he stayed in the belly of that fish for 3 days and nights. When Jonah prayed to God and promised that he would go to Nineveh, God told the great fish to spit Jonah out. Jonah warned Nineveh and they stopped their evil ways. God forgave them and Jonah was angry, but God told Jonah that He is forgiving to those people who didn't understand before Jonah warned them, just as He is forgiving to Jonah, who disobeyed Him and knew better.
