Pontius Pilate
 

Pontius Pilate was the Roman governor of Judæa. The chief priests and elders of the people took Jesus to Pilate because they didn't believe that Jesus was the King of the Jews. Pontius Pilate couldn't find that Jesus did anthing wrong, but the Jews said that if he let Jesus go, then he must not be Caesar's friend, because Caesar was the king. When Pontius Pilate heard that, he made up his mind to have Jesus whipped and then to turn Him over to the people who wanted to crucify Jesus.
