WHAT IS BACKBITING IN THE BIBLE?
Backbiting in the Bible is slandering or speaking badly of a
person behind that person's back.

It is very
hurtful and has been causing divisions in the Church for
centuries.

Psalms 15:1-3

BACKBITETH NOT with his
tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh
up a reproach against his neighbour. |
It says that those who backbite
will NOT abide (live) in God's Holy Hill.
These backbiters have been in the Church from the beginning

2 Corinthians 12:20
For I
fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such
as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such
as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings,
wraths, strifes,
BACKBITINGS,
whisperings, swellings, tumults ...

What does God think of these
backbiters?

Romans 1:28-32
And even as they did not like to retain God in their
knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind,
to do those things which are not convenient; Being
filled with all unrighteousness, fornication,
wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of
envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
BACKBITERS, haters of
God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil
things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural
affection, implacable, unmerciful:
WHO KNOWING THE JUDGMENT OF GOD THAT THEY WHICH
COMMIT SUCH THINGS ARE WORTHY OF DEATH NOT ONLY DO
THE SAME BUT HAVE PLEASURE IN THEM THAT DO THEM.

So those who choose to backbite are
hurting their own souls.
I am oft times saddened to see CHRISTIANS
backbiting against fellow Christians.
In
fact, tho Christianity Oasis has one of the most Spirit and
Peace filled Forums and Chat rooms on the Internet, we too
have those who CHOOSE to do this, KNOWING it is against the
will of GOD and contrary to the teachings of JESUS.
How
can one choose to do this? How can one SAY they love God and
hate their brother?

1 John 4:20
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he
is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom
he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not
seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he
who loveth God love his brother also. |
Do you
think Jesus cries when He sees Christians doing this to one
another?
How
can one ignore the pleas of JESUS to LOVE one another after
Jesus died for us.
NO …
He SUFFERED and THEN endured the most painful death most can
fathom for us:

Matthew 26:67
Then did they spit in His face, and buffeted Him;
and others smote Him with the palms of their hands
... |
My
fellow Christian … They beat, hit and whipped OUR Lord
severely for US to have an opportunity at Salvation.
If
JESUS took this type of abuse for us ... Can we not be more
understanding of our fellow Christians and choose to forgive
when we feel insulted or disrespected by another Christian
as compared to running off in secret and backbiting?
Jesus
asked that we LOVE one another as He loved us:

John 15:12
This is my
commandment, That ye love one another, as I have
loved you.

John 13:34-35
A new
commandment I give unto you, That ye love one
another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one
another. By this shall all men know that ye are my
disciples, if ye have love one to another.
|
So
KNOWING that Jesus asked us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER ...
Why would CHRISTIANS still backbite?
Why do
these souls choose to do this backbiting, KNOWING it is
wrong?
It is
OBVIOUS that this type of thing is of Satan and his intent
is to DIVIDE the Church of God by removing LOVE from the
Church …

Matthew 12:25
And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto
them,
Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to
desolation; and every city or house divided against
itself shall not stand ... |
Most
do this backbiting because they feel they were hurt by
someone so they gather their friends and backbite …
The
Bible addressed this issue ... Even if they did feel hurt by
another they are supposed to allow GOD to deal with it.

Romans 12:17-21
Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide
things honest in the sight of all men. If it be
possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably
with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves,
but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written,
Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he
thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt
heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of
evil, but overcome evil with good. |
You know what my friend …
Over the many years that I have been serving the Lord … I
have found that satan’s best method of communicating with
God’s people as to plant his seeds of deceit, is by using
human whisperers and backbiting ...

Proverbs 16:28
A froward man soweth strife: and a WHISPERER
separateth chief friends. |
Do you have friends that try
and get you to join in on backbiting?
If you ever find yourself in the shadows
backbiting with someone about others …
WALK AWAY IMMEDIATELY.
Even if it is a friend who begins backbiting
to you about someone else, just let em know they should
forgive and Love all and get outta there before the enemy of
your soul runs up to God and points at you.

Revelation 12:10
... for the accuser of our brethren is cast down,
which accused them before our God day and night. |
Do as Jesus did when satan was whispering to
Him when Jesus was being tempted in the wilderness for 40
days and tell the TRUTH.
It is WRONG to backbite and you will not take
part in SATAN’S PLOT.
Choose to SUBMIT to the rules God has laid
down regarding Love and forgiveness ...

James 4:7
Submit
yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and
he will flee from you. |
Note that the Bible said “The devil will
flee” …
That is cuz the person IS being inspired by
satan that has drawn you to the shadows to hear the
backbiting.
Just as when Jesus told Peter ... Get thee
behind me satan ...

Matthew 16:23
But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind
me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou
savourest not the things that be of God, but those
that be of men. |
Satan
inspired Peter to say something to Jesus.
Jesus
called out satan who was speaking thru Peter.
"Get thee behind me, Satan."
It is NOT the person that is backbiting that is the ROOT …
It is SATAN.
So you must try and
reach your friend with TRUTH.
Not just adhere to the
backbiting just cuz it is a friend.
Remember … GOD FIRST,
then family then friends then whatever …
REPROVE YOUR FRIEND

Ephesians 5:9-12
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in
all goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is
acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the
UNFRUITFUL WORKS OF DARKNESS, but rather REPROVE THEM. For
it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done
of them in secret. |
The definition of REPROVE is
… To convey one’s disapproval of; to rebuke, especially in a
gentle, sweet, kind tone …
So in a kind and gentle
manner let the person know the TRUTH and that you will take
NO part in it.
You are RE-PROVING the matter
as we are taught to PROVE all things:
HEAR THE
SPIRIT OF TRUTH
