The Elect Bible Adventure
Who Are the Elect in the Bible
Let us begin, shall we? Who are the Elect in the Bible and how does
one become part of the Elect? Why is it so important to the devil to
deceive these Elect people?
For there shall arise false christs, and false prophets, and shall
shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible,
they shall deceive the very elect.
Well, first, let's think about what the word 'elect' means, exactly.
When you are elected, you are chosen, so God's elect are God's
Let's take a look back through the Bible, and find out who some of
God's elect were throughout history, who today's elect are, and what
it means to be one of ... The Elect.
First off, you have Adam and Eve. Wouldn't you say they were elected
by God, being the first man and woman to inhabit the Earth ... The
only two human beings to ever experience Eden (otherwise known as
Paradise) on earth?
The devil deceived them merely with suggestion ... Remember what we
just read that Jesus said ...
For there shall arise false christs, and false prophets, and shall
shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible,
they shall deceive the very elect.
Let's take a small, Who are the Elect Bible field trip and educate
ourselves a little bit about these false christs and false prophets
that Jesus was talking about in the scripture above. It's easy to
assume that He was talking about Antichrist and the False Prophet
that you may have also read about it the book of Revelation:
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the Earth;
and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon [the false
12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast.
[antichrist] before him, and causeth the Earth and them which dwell
therein to worship the first beast [antichrist], whose deadly wound
13 And he [the false prophet] doeth great wonders, so that
he maketh fire come down from Heaven on the Earth in the sight of men,
14 and deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by
the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of
the beast; saying to them that dwell on the Earth, that they should
make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did
But notice once again, that Jesus referred to false christ(s) and
false prophet(s) in plural. He indeed may have included Antichrist
and the False Prophet in His warning, but I'd like to focus on the
false christs and false prophets that surround you every day of your
1 John 2:18-22
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have
heard that Antichrist shall come, even now are there many
antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if
they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but
they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not
all of us.
20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know
21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the
truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the
Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
Let's stop here in our Who are the Elect in the Bible trek for truth
as John makes an important point. You have an unction, or in other
words, an anointing from the Holy Spirit, so you stay alert and
resist anything but the truth ...
The false christs and false prophets, who are inspired by Satan, are
banking on you letting down your guard for just an instant, and
they're always lurking about, just awaiting any weak moment you may
have to get a foothold in you with a deceitful thought, idea, theory
or any kind of evil or wickedness by any medium that will work.
Beware. Don't let your guard down. The Elect Bible warning in Peter
1 Peter 5:8-9
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil,
as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the Faith, knowing that the same
afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Try and grasp the whole, Who are the Elect Bible message within
Peter's words. It's not only you that the devil is after. He's after
your brothers and sisters (fellow Christians) too. So when you
discover evil or wickedness being practiced by someone you know,
isn't it your duty as a Christian to help them recognize the lie that
they've bought into ... And who sold it to them?
Many times, we get caught up in emotions of anger, pride, defense,
etc., and instead of understanding why other souls do what they do,
we assume that we're the elect, and they must not be, because of
their weakness. Doesn't that push them even further into the enemy's
hands instead of reaching out a Godly hand and assisting them back to
You may think, Gee wiz, it just doesn't seem fair that the deceit of
the adversaries will get even craftier as time goes on and the Elect
will suffer. Why can't it just be like in the olden days, when it
seemed plain and clear as to who and what represented evil? To answer
that, I'd like to remind you of what happened in Egypt when Moses
showed the great signs and wonders of God to Pharaoh.
10 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did
so as the Lord had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before
Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.
11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the
sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner
with their enchantments.
And that's not all ... These sorcerers also turned water into blood
and brought frogs upon the land. One would think that such things
could only be done with divine intervention ... Especially in those
Friend, evil is never plain and clear ... At least not when it's
trying to lure you. Evil is not going to stand up and say point
blank: Hello, I'm evil, and I'm here to take over your soul. Nope,
that rascal is gonna do everything in his power to hide his plot from
you. He is gonna try and con-vince you that whatever form of evil you
accept. It's cool ... You can even fit it into your Christian
If it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
So, who are these false Christs and false prophets, and how is one to
Paul talks about those 'magicians' in Moses' day that showed great
signs and wonders and compares them with people in our time. It's
very important that you're aware of the Elect Bible fact, because
don't forget that deceit is the job of the adversary and you are the
prey and supposed to be aware.
How many times have you not understood something that was so
blatantly obvious, and then all of a sudden, it becomes crystal clear
and you can't believe you didn't understand it from the beginning?
The deceit of the adversary works the same way. What is it that
blinds us from seeing through deception? Pride, fear, stubbornness,
worldly values, etc.
Let's take a close look at something that Paul said. The final days
will be perilous or dangerous. He wasn't talking about only physical
danger ... He was talking about danger to our souls:
2 Timothy 3:1-5
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous,
boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false
accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more
than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power
thereof: from such turn away.
Here is a little, Who are the Elect in the Bible tidbit of truth ...
Now, most of these things are (I hate to say it) common in our
generation. I'd like to explain a few of these things that may not be
words of everyday vocabulary for most: Without natural affection -
Means loving someone when it is not "natural." Incontinent - means
no self control. Heady - means shrewd.
What about that last line? Having a form of godliness, but denying
the power thereof: from such turn away.
(This is a very important, Who are the Elect in the Bible concern)
These are people who appear to have powers, but don't believe in
Jesus Christ. There are entire 'religions' that practice this. So
from where does this "power" come from?
These are the false christs and false prophets that Jesus warned us
... If it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. These new
age beliefs seek to edify SELF and suggest that we can become as gods
if we follow their doctrines. Sound familiar? It should ... It is
what Satan promised Eve in the Garden of Eden, if she would partake
of the fruit.
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes
shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and
So, we see these new age cults which promise we will be gods are no
more than Satan up to his same ole tricks.
Let's continue with our Who are the Elect Bible test and trivia ...
Paul was saying, because it's very interesting and many elect may be
blinded by the deceit of these things:
2 Timothy 3:6-7
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and
lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge
of the truth.
Beware being captivated by these people, practices, and deceits ...
There's always something 'new and exciting' to seek out ... A world
full of new ideologies that will spark interest, but they will not
find God in doing so.
2 Timothy 3:10-13
10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life,
purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at
Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out
of them all the Lord delivered me.
12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse,
deceiving, and being deceived.
In our Who are the Elect in the Bible lesson, Paul goes on to say,
that just as he went through persecution for resisting those who
opposed the Faith, we also, will be persecuted for our convictions.
Let me repeat Verse 13 once again:
2 Timothy 3:13
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and
Even the elect, if possible.
The adversary is no dummy. What a crafty trick to make the majority
of the world adopt ungodly practices, by slowly introducing them and
persisting with them until they're accepted as the standard. It is
commonplace to sin openly and even deemed as heroic.
My dear friends ... As God's elect, isn't it your duty to be cautious
about every little thing? Those who aren't will undoubtedly end up in
the majority. If you haven't noticed yet ... The majority isn't God's
elect. In fact, if you choose to follow the Lord wholly, you'll find
that a democratic system has nothing to do with your Faith. The
majority does not rule.
Let's stop right there for just a minute. Before we share the next
selection of who are the Elect in the Bible from the past, I'd like
you to think about a few different things. All believers fall. It's
the getting up that counts ... But there's more to getting up than
just setting out once again to surrender to sin, fall, and then get
up yet again ... There's a very important process of repentance that
is vital to being a member of God's elect.
Here is a ... Who are the Elect Bible reminder: Never forget, our God
is a loving God, Gracious and Merciful, and He wants all of us to
make it ... To be successful in remaining steadfast in Faith and
resist the devil, but make no mistake, He is a jealous God, and is
not mocked. We've read about times when He said, "Enough." ... Jesus
admonished us too, for those who believe they can claim to be
Faithful, but have their own plans at heart:
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall
enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he that doeth the will of my
Father which is in Heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we
not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and
in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you:
depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
What of Noah's time period ... God saved only 8 from the Great Flood.
Eight souls were found worthy out of every soul in the whole world.
With that in mind, let's look at more of the Elect in the Bible of
the past. What about the children of Israel? They are historically
known as God's 'chosen' people ... Let's look at the facts: When God
brought the children of Israel out of slavery in Egypt and promised
them the "Promised Land," the number of Israelites living at that
time (not including the Levites) were 603,550 (Numbers
Here's an interesting point about the Elect Bible pick and choose
procedure ... How many of these (more than half a million people) ...
Were actually allowed by God to enter into the Promised Land? Only
11 Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from
twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto
Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly
12 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and
Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the Lord.
These are staggering numbers. That's about 4 out of a million people
whom God chose ... That chose God. Let's do some who are the Elect in
the Bible math. It's always good to look at things from different
points of view, so let's look at this from one extreme ... To the
Let's start with the worst case scenario.
Keep in mind, this is only speculation. God is the final Judge in all
matters, and as believers, I'm sure we all pray diligently that
everyone chooses to be saved, and that we are all allowed to enjoy
eternal life in His presence and in the presence of the Lamb. But do
not count on it because stats reveal a diff story.
The suggestion of this Who are the Elect Bible comparison is merely
to remind us all that we ought to consider our lifestyles a bit more
cautiously, because we've seen the elect be deceived and were warned
that it will continue to happen. Let's just think of these
comparative projections as part of our arsenal of "things we learned
from others' experiences" weaponry.
Out of one billion people, if our generation, with it's ever
weakening moral fiber, can be compared to the children of Israel as
far as the number of people who have "wholly followed the Lord," only
4,000 would enter into the Promised Land.
Let's crunch the Elect Bible numbers a little bit more, shall we? The
world population today is somewhere around 6 billion people.
If those same percentages (of people who are wholly committed to
following the Lord) apply to this generation, that would mean that
only 24,000 (worldwide) would enter the Promised Land.
Want to hear something even more staggering who are the Elect in the
Bible facts and figures? There are approximately three hundred
million people in the United States in this day and age. That means
1,200 people from the United States would enter the Promised Land,IF
those percentages applied today. People ... That's only 24 people per
Wait now ... Remember that is the worst case scenario of our
comparison. The great news is ... The Bible reveals that there will
1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion,
and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's
name written in their foreheads.
2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many
waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of
harpers harping with their harps:
3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne,
and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn
that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were
redeemed from the earth.
4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for
they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever
he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits
unto God and to the Lamb.
5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are
without fault before the throne of God.
These are definitely some of God's elect ... His firstfruits. They
are 144,000 Jewish men from the children of Israel, so looking at it
from different perspectives, we've gone from 24,000 worldwide, to
144,000 from one single race ... And those are the pick of the crop,
so to speak. In other words, the number of redeemed is more than this
... These are just the best of the best.
Here is an interesting concept. These 144,000 deemed as His
"firstfruits" could be the 10% that the Jewish people were to give to
God as shared in the Bible. If that is true ... That would be almost
1.5 million souls that were chosen and chose Him.
There is also the Elect Bible Scripture that says one third will be
brought through fire or tested and will be saved.
8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith
the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third
shall be left therein.
9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and
will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is
tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will
say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.
But, ⅓ of what number?
What about another point of view ... Jesus told a who are the Elect
Bible parable about some wise and foolish maidens. Five were wise,
being prepared for the arrival of the bridegroom but five were
foolish, being unprepared at His arrival. While the foolish went to
prepare at the last minute, the door to the marriage was shut:
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord,
Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know
Could the analogy of this, Who are the Elect in the Bible story, be
telling us that fifty percent of us will be elected and 50% will not
because they did not choose? Again, these are just possible numbers
but remember Jesus did say that many are called and few will be
chosen ... That is because few will choose Him. Just a little food
for thought. This next one may just be the best case scenario:
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant
of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that
blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the
Gentiles be come in.
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is
written, There shall come out of Sion [Zion] the Deliverer, and shall
turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take
away their sins. [Psalms 14:7]
28 As concerning the Gospel, they are enemies for your
sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have
now obtained Mercy through their unbelief:
31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through
your Mercy they also may obtain Mercy.
32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that He
might have Mercy upon all.
Now this is the part of our Who are the Elect in the Bible study that
we need to take ponder on ...
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
how unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!
The Elect Bible point of view is that since we are all now God's
chosen people since the dawning of the New Testament, (New Covenant
by the shedding of the precious Blood of Jesus for our sins, we are
all then "entitled" to Salvation, just as Paul described pertaining
to the descendants of Israel. As Paul said, the imagination cannot
fathom the things of God ...
We cannot limit His wonders nor His Mercy and Grace! But beware, as
He is not mocked. There is one thing to consider, however, if you
dare to be "wise in your own conceits," or in other words, if you
have confidence in your own ideas, and you know, or suspect that your
lifestyle is not "wholly" committed to following the Lord, will there
not be some price to pay?
Let's take a look at some of the Elect Bible precautions that we
should be aware of concerning being the who becomes the Elect. Here
is another, Who are the Elect Bible tidbit of truth ... Sometimes,
being 'elect' makes people take matters into their own hands instead
of relying on God's Word.
Would you think that being a king of Israel or Judah would put one in
the category of being 'elect'? Have you ever read about the behavior
of this group of elect kings? Don't be fooled into thinking that if
you're one of the elect, you're exempt from the trickery of the
enemy. Quite contrarily ... you're even more valuable to the
deceiver's cause. If the adversary can get someone who is respected
among believers to change sides, how many will follow?
How many times does the devil use those in authority, who claim to be
God fearing people, to promote small ideas that are not godly, yet in
one way or another, will make them appear righteous to the world, to
slowly coerce as many people as he can away from the moral values
that God's Word teaches?
Another Who are the Elect Bible reminder ... Being overly cautious
about the tiny details of one virtue, can't make up for the complete
neglect of another duty.
Are you wholly committed to the Lord? Do you have a few redeeming
qualities that you believe allow you to neglect other
responsibilities of one who wholly follows the Lord?
Are you one of God's elect? If you want to be elected, you have to
run the race, but the only vote you need to win Salvation, is God's
vote ... And if you vote for Him, He'll vote for you.
The Elect Bible teaching seeking the answer to who are the Elect in
the Bible reveals that the elect are chosen Christians during the End
Times who will endure much and yet be rewarded beyond the imagination
There is a force out there that is attempting to overtake us all; it is Satan. There is another force that is protecting us from him; it is the Holy Spirit. It is a battle for souls. This battle is called Spiritual Warfare, and like it or not, you are right in the middle of it.
How to Prepare for Spiritual Warfare
