As little Abigail walks home from school she can't help but feel worried
and scared. For she knows she misbehaved in school today. It all began
when she pushed her classmate Stormy in the cafeteria. Then continued
during recess and throwing rocks at Stormy for telling.
Through all this Stormy turns to her and says, "It's ok, I'll pray for
you, and Jesus loves you." Doing all this with a smile on her face as
she walks away singing "Jesus loves me." Who is He anyway? Abigail
exclaimed.

As Abigail enters her home with high hopes that the school hadn't
called. "Maybe the principal forgot," she tells herself. As she opens
the door with a guilty smile, she finds her mom on the other side, arms
crossed against her chest and a frown on her face. Abigail's smile
quickly turns upside down. For she knows she is in trouble.

"Hi Mommy," she says in a low scared voice. Her mom looks at her and
says, "Have a seat on the couch Abigail, I heard you had a bad day at
school today? I want to hear all about it," she demanded.
Page 4
Abigail sits on the couch next to her mom, and begins to tell her all
that happened throughout the day at school. She even tells her about
what Stormy said about a man named Jesus. Her mom then smiles at the
sound of His name ... Jesus.
Abigail looks at her mom and asks, "Mom who is
Jesus?" Her mother smiles and says, "Well dear, we've talked about Him
before, let me remind you." She walks over to the book shelf and grabs a
book. "This here Abigail is called The Bible," her mom says.
Page 5
Filled with joy her mom opens her Bible and goes on saying. "Well a
long time ago there was a brave, nice, and strong man named Jesus. He
went from village to village helping people. He didn't care if you were
bad, He loved all people the same and did all He could to help them."
Page 6
"Jesus wanted to make us better so that one day we could all go to
heaven. He taught us how to love and care for one another, that we are
all brothers and sisters. See honey it's right here in the Bible. I'll
read it to you, Matthew 12:48-50. But He replied to the man who told
Him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers? And stretching out
His hand toward His disciples, He said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! For
whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister
and mother."
Page 7
"Jesus healed the sick, the poor, and the worried and gave all He
could to all of us," said her mother. "All of us? Like me?" Abigail
asked. "Yes," said her mom smiling.
It says it right here in the Bible,
"Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you
rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and
humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is
easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28) Jesus gave and gave, never
expecting anything in return," her mother says.
Page 8
"He taught us to open our hearts and minds to
God. So that one day there would be no more pain
and sickness, as long as we live to be like Him." Let's
read from the Bible where it says that Abigail," says her mom eagerly.
This time Abigail begins to read where her mother is pointing, "He will
wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more,
neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the
former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4.
"Wow," said Abigail. "But mom what happened to Him?" asked Abigail.
"Well dear He gave His life for us, for our sins," her mother answers.
"His life, for me?" asked Abigail.
"Yes just as it says here, Mark 10:45, For even the Son of Man did not
come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many,"
says her mother.
"Sin, what are sins mom?" Abigail asked. "Well dear sins can be described as lying,
cheating, and being mean to our brothers and sisters and not living a
life as Jesus did," her mother replied.
Page 9
"But He doesn't even know me" said Abigail.
Her mother puts her hand
on Abigail's shoulder and says," Yes dear He does, He made us all," Her
mother then reads, "For by Him all things were created: things in heaven
and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers
or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him." Colossians
1:16. "He knows us very well, we are His children and He loves us. Jesus
forgives us Abigail, but it is up to us to open up our hearts to Him, to
believe in Him and ask for forgiveness." Her mother says.
"But how do we ask for forgiveness?" Abigail asked.
"We pray to Him sweetie. Let me show you," says mother as she gently grabs Abigail's
hand together and kneels down with her. And says,
"Our Father who art in heaven
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven,
give us today our daily bread
and forgive us for our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us
and deliver us from evil.
Amen."
(Mathew 6:9)
"Now you talk to Him and ask Him to forgive you and give thanks for
all your blessings. He's always listening no matter the time of day,"
says her mother.
Page 10
"Wow, I want to be just like Him. I want to help others and be good Mommy,"
says Abigail.
"And you can and will be Abigail," her mother replies.
"I can't wait for school tomorrow so I can tell all my friends
about Jesus. And I'm going to thank Stormy too," says Abigail.
"Well I
think that's a great plan! But you know that today you misbehaved and
you are still grounded for the rest of the week," says her mother.
"I understand mom," says Abigail.
"Tomorrow is a new day Abigail," says her mom."
Yes Mom and it's going to be a better day, I can just feel it," says Abigail.
