For those who have been following the Tell me the story of Jesus
Bible study program, we will pick up where we left off. for those who
are here for the Blind Faith Bible study, we will begin here ... When
Jesus came down from the mountain, after He gave the Sermon
on the Mount, crowds of people followed Him.
Our blind faith Bible adventure begins with a leper came and knelt down, bowing to Him and said, Lord, If you're
willing, you can make me clean. Jesus put out His hand and touched
him, and said, I will, be clean. Immediately the leprosy left him and
he was cleansed. Jesus told him not to tell anyone, but to show
himself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a
testimony to them. If you would like to read about the gift(s) that
are mentioned here, you'll find them in Leviticus
14:4-32.
As you can well imagine, if you had leprosy and you were healed instantly by Jesus simply touching you, (and your faith) you'd find it hard to keep quiet about it you would know the truth. Well, so did this (former) leper, and he went out and spread the news of it so widely that Jesus couldn't openly come into the city anymore.
Here is a little Blind Faith Bible tidbit of Truth ... Mark has an interesting
way of describing the enthusiasm of the leper spreading the news ...
He says, But he went out and began to publish it much, and to blaze
abroad the matter. So Jesus stayed outside the city in desert places,
and people still came to Him from all over to hear Him and be healed
by Him.
Now, let's delve into the Faith of the Centurion Bible story. Shortly after
that, Jesus went to Capernaum and a centurion (the commander of 100
soldiers in the ancient Roman army) had a servant that was dear to
him that was paralyzed and ready to die. When he heard of Jesus, he
sent the elders of the Jews to ask if He would come and heal him.
When they asked Jesus, they told Him that the centurion was a worthy
man, that he loved Israel and had built them a synagogue.
Jesus went with them, but when He came near to the house, the
centurion sent friends out to Him saying Lord, don't go to any
trouble, I'm not worthy for you to come into my home, and I didn't
feel worthy to ask you myself, but only say the Word and my servant
will be healed. (Blind Faith Bible ingredient) I also am a man who
is given authority with soldiers under me. I say to this man, Go, and
he goes, and to another, Come, and he comes, and to my servant, Do
this, and he does it.
Jesus was astonished at the blind Faith of the Centurion and He turned
around and told the people who were following Him, Truly I say to
you, I haven't found such great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say
to you, That many will come from the east and west, and will sit down
with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the Kingdom of Heaven. (Jesus is referring to the Gentiles being accepted into Heaven after the New Covenant) But the
children of the Kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there
will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
What Jesus meant in the Faith of the Centurion Bible Story was that
just as this Roman centurion of great faith, didn't come from Israel,
there will be many Gentiles of great faith in Heaven. But you can be
an Israelite and if you have no faith in Jesus Christ (another Blind
Faith Bible ingredient), you'll be thrown into outer darkness.
Weeping and gnashing of teeth is a phrase that Jesus uses many times
to show how horribly devastating it will be.
Jesus said, Go your way, and as you believed, it will be done for
you. The centurion's servant was healed in the very same hour.
The next day, Jesus went into a city called Nain. Many of His
disciples and many other people went with Him. When He arrived at the
gate of the city, there was a dead man being carried out, who was an
only son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city
were with her.
When Jesus saw her, He had compassion on her and said, Don't cry. He
went and touched the coffin and the people who carried it stood
still. Jesus said, Young man, I say to you, Arise.
The man who was dead, sat up and started to talk, and Jesus took him
to his mother. A fear came upon everyone who saw it happen and they
glorified God saying, A great prophet is among us, and, God has
visited His people. Wow ... What a Blind Faith Bible story that was.
The story of what Jesus did and the enhanced Faith of the Centurion bringing forth the miracle spread throughout all of Judea and all the lands surrounding it and the disciples of John the Baptist told Him about it. Jesus made the man who was dead, come back to life. I ask you, who else can do that, but the Son of God? The blind faith Bible study clearly reveals that the genuine faith of the centurion brought forth true and immediate healing from the Lord. His sheer blind faith that Jesus would act brought for the miracle. Would you like to obtain and maintain the faith of the centurion?
