Let Us Make Man

Many question where Cain's wife came from because God created Adam and Eve and they had children but where did Cain's wife come from? This causes doubt and confusion. Many fear to talk about this and others just throw out theories as being facts as to explain it away.

So, let's go seek a little Truth shall we? Buckle up as it will be quite a ride into the Spiritual realm of God. We will start at the beginning ... Most are familiar with the story of Creation and how God created the Heaven and Earth:

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Most know that He created Heaven and earth and all that is therein in six days and rested on the seventh day.

Genesis 2:1-3

1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Most know that God created Adam from the dust of the ground.

Genesis 2:7

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Then took a rib from Adam and created Eve.

Genesis 2:21-22

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

Most are familiar with the story of Adam and Eve and how the enemy of our soul came as a serpent and tempted Eve with the fruit from the forbidden tree of knowledge of good and evil. Most know Eve then got Adam to join her in this disobedience.

Genesis 3:1-6

1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

God Said Let Us Make Man in Our Image Adventure

Most know they both got punished and banned from the Garden of Eden for doing this.

Genesis 3:9-24

9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Most know that they had two sons named Cain and Abel and that both gave God a sacrifice and that God was more pleased with Abel's sacrifice and this angered Cain. In jealousy, Cain slew his brother.

Genesis 4:1-8

1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.
2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6 And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

Check out this little known let us make man in our image tidbit of truth ... Most know that God came to Cain and asked where Abel was and Cain replied ... "Am I my brother's keeper?" ... Most know that God punished Cain by sending him away and that Cain said that the people that saw him in other cities would kill him so God put a mark of protection on him. Many know that when Cain left he went to another city and found and married a wife.

Genesis 4:9-17

9 And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;
12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
13 And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
15 And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
16 And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

But, what most do not know is ... Where did these people that Cain feared would hurt him come from? Where did Cain's wife come from. Think about it ... If God created Adam and Eve and they had Cain and Abel, where did the rest of the people come from? There is one theory out there which suggests that Adam and Eve had many children and that one of these children is the wife of Cain. They use this Scripture to confirm this.

Genesis 5:3-4

3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:
4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

So, it seems we have the answer ... But wait just a second. It said that after Adam and Eve had Seth (Which was born after Cain had been banished) That Adam and Eve had other children. Plus ... Why were the other children not ever mentioned if there were some born earlier? Were they kicked out or did they leave home and only Abel and Cain stayed? If so, it was Cain's brothers and sisters that he feared would kill him?

Hmmmmmmmmm ... We best do a little, Let us make man in our image research in God's Word to find the whole Truth. To do so we must go back to the beginning. When God created man.

Genesis 1:26-31

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created He them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Now there are some awesome tidbits in here if ya look closely. For example ... God said let us make man in our Image. Not only is it cool to be made in God's image but what is this us and our business all about? The answer can be found in the Trinity study, which you can check out after this study. This study explains why God said us and our and how we are made in God's image. Let's look at the next interesting point.

It is written ...

Genesis 1:27

So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.

Both male and females were created at this time and both were created in His image.

Then God told them to ...

Genesis 1:28

Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

REplenish? How does one replenish the Earth unless it had been there before and was destroyed and was the reason that is was dark and without form and lifeless?

Genesis 1:2

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

God Said Let Us Make Man in Our Image Cycles

Let's take a quick, God said let us make man in our image, field trip. God says there will be a New Heaven and New Earth after this 7000 year cycle we are currently in.

Isaiah 65:17

For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

Isaiah 66:22

For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain.

2 Peter 3:13

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Revelation 21:1

And I saw a New Heaven and a New Earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

God has given the exact same description of the Earth as it was described "In the beginning" through the prophet Jeremiah speaking of another time yet to come.

Jeremiah 4:22-27

22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the Lord, and by his fierce anger.
27 For thus hath the Lord said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

And check this strange statement out.

Genesis 2:4

These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.

Could it be that just as it will be at the end of this seven thousand year cycle, when God will create a New Heaven and New Earth that this cycle has occurred before? Could it have happened many times? If so ... would this not explain the fossils that are millions of years old and bring harmony to the Science versus the Bible division?

God Said Let Us Make Man in Our Image Origins

Let us return to the topic at hand which is where did Cain's wife come from? I took that little detour to show you just how much one can miss if they just read the Bible instead of actually study it.

Now, where were we. Oh yeah ...

Notice that God created man on the sixth day.

Then after he had finished His work, He takes the seventh day off.

What is said next?

Genesis 2:4-6

4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

Generations of the Heaven(s) and of the Earth huh?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm ...

Then God creates Adam ...

Genesis 2:7

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

And creates the Garden in Eden ...

Genesis 2:8

And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

God Said Let Us Make Man in Our Image Timeline

Now the problem is ... God created male and female in His image and told them to go replenish the Earth on the sixth day and then rested on the seventh day ... and then created Adam. This suggests that God created mankind and then created Adam later or after the Bible speaks of the Seventh Day, it stops and then begins to reflect back on events that transpired during the seven days when it said:

Genesis 2:4-6

4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

This is possible because it said after the Seventh day that there was no man to till the ground when God had made man on the sixth day. Sooooooo maybe the Bible is reflecting back on events that occurred during the seven days or maybe there are generations that passed during God's creation.

But wait ... God gave Adam the punishment of having to work the land. Why would He punish him by making Adam till the land if he was already doing it?

Did not God plant the Garden in Eden?

Genesis 2:8

And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Confused yet? Wait just a second ... There is more to consider within the God said let us make Scripture. Remember the generations issue?

Genesis 2:4

These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.

It is written that one day to God is 1000 years to man.

Psalm 90:4

For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

2 Peter 3:8

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Could this be what is meant by generations?

So we see that it is also possible that several thousand years passed during that seven days.

But wait yet again ...

Genesis 1:5

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

This suggests that it was not 1000 years but rather an evening and a morning.

But how long is an evening to God? How long is a morning? Is this based on 1000 years?

While that is simmering on a back burner, let us consider this possibility. Have you ever noticed how God has always picked out a special person and carried the bloodline to Jesus? He chose Noah, Abraham Jacob, David etc. all the way to Jesus. A Generational bloodline if you will. This Bloodline can be found at the beginning of Matthew and one in the Gospel of Luke.

Maybe He did the same with Adam. Maybe He created mankind on the 6th day and told then to replenish the earth but then created Adam as His special one.

Are you starting to see all the possibilities that there are for Cain having a wife besides the Bible being a lie or the woman Cain married being Adam and Eve's child that I suppose most that believe that theory are saying the Bible failed to mention the other children at the time of Cain and Abel and that Adam and Eve kicked out all their kids except for Cain and Abel?

Now, before you decide what you want to believe is Truth ... Consider this God said let us make man Scripture.

Genesis 5:2

Male and female created He them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

God Said Let Us Make Man in Our Image Concern

Uh oh, Spaghettio ... The Bible just called both male and female Adam. What does the word Adam mean? Well now, we gotta remember that the Bible was translated from Hebrew to Latin to English to various other languages. The name Adam is the masculine form of the Hebrew adamah in our likeness "ground." The word also carries the in our likeness of "man" in the sense of "mankind."

In Hebrew the word Adam is used to designate the species of human beings. So let's read it again with this understanding and see if it makes sense ... God made males and females on the sixth day and called them ... Human beings or mankind. Then ... God created Adam and took a rib and created Eve. All through the Bible, the people's names meant something and that is why they received that name.

Adam was called Adam because He was a human being. God never actually calls him Adam by name as He does Abraham, Jacob, David and others that He chose and for good reason ... They were not the first of the humans that He chose to carry on His bloodline. He called Jacob ... Israel. Then again He has called the people of Israel ... Jacob.

If this is a little confusing consider it like this. For God to call to Adam would be like you calling for your son and saying, son ... Come here. His name is not "son", but he is your son.

So, what have we learned in this God said let us make man in our image Bible study thus far?

Cain's wife could have been an unmentioned child of Adam and Eve that left home. Cain's wife could have been one of the human beings created. Cain's wife could have been one of many in the generations of creation. And there are probably lots of other possibilities. You choose whether it is deemed important enough to research and if so, what you want to believe from what you discover.

But if you take anything away from this God said let us make man in our image study, let it be this ... Never doubt the Word of God just because that particular aspect does not make sense to you. God's ways are not our ways and His ways so much higher than ours because when this began, it had the potential to cause doubt and confusion as there seemed no answer.

Now, you have several reasons to choose from as to where Cain got his wife. Though you may not have discerned where his wife came from, you do have peace in knowing the Word of God is the Truth.

In conclusion ... This God said let us make man in our image Bible quest reveals that we should never limit God's Word to our limited worldly, carnal and very limited understanding of the Spiritual world.
