Jesus' Miracles in the Bible

God has been performing miracles since the opening words of the book of Genesis when He said "Let there be" ... When Jesus came to earth He too performed miracles.

Let us look at some of the Jesus Miracles Bible verses ... Below is the first miracle that Jesus performed.

John 2:1-11

1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 And both Jesus was called, and His disciples, to the marriage.
3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto Him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it.
6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And He saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth His glory; and His disciples believed on Him.

This is the second Miracle that Jesus performed.

John 4:46-54

46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where He made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto Him, and besought Him that He would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49 The nobleman saith unto Him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when He was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

Another miracle Jesus performed:

John 5:1-9

5 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, He saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered Him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

Our Lord's Miracles in the Bible

Jesus performed many miracles from healings to casting out demons from people. I could go on and on about His miracles forever both written and not written in the Bible as John explains.

John 21:25

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

But I would like to focus now on another aspect of miracles and how Faith affects miracles. Let's take a look at a couple more of Jesus' miracles and how Faith played a role in them. Jesus performed an awesome miracle when He fed 5000 men with no more than 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.

Matthew 14:14-21

14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and He healed their sick.
15 And when it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
17 And they say unto Him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
18 He said, Bring them hither to me.
19 And He commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, He blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

Now not long after this, the Apostles found themselves in the very same situation and guess what ... They seemed to forget about the feeding of the 5000 men.

Matthew 15:30-38

30 And great multitudes came unto Him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and He healed them:
31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 Then Jesus called His disciples unto Him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
33 And His disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?
34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 And He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36 And He took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.
38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

Unforgettable Miracles in the Bible

It seems clear that the Apostles forgot what Jesus had done. But guess what ... They do it again. Jesus even has to remind them of the miracle they saw with their eyes.

Matthew 16:5-12

5 And when His disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
8 Which when Jesus perceived, He said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12 Then understood they how that He bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

And yet again ... They forgot about the miracle when another tragedy fell upon them.

Mark 6:47-52

47 And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and He alone on the land.
48 And He saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night He cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
49 But when they saw Him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
50 For they all saw Him, and were troubled. And immediately He talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
51 And He went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
52 For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.

So we see that trials and tribulation caused even the Apostles to forget the miracles that they had seen Jesus do with their eyes which in Truth means ... They lost their Faith.

Christian Miracles Bible Verses Explained
Miracles in the Bible Bring Hope

Lack of faith hinders the Lord from performing miracles. This is confirmed in the Bible.

Matthew 14:25-31

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28 And Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 And He said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Peter was able to walk on water when he kept his eyes on Jesus, but when he looked away and saw the exterior conditions, he immediately began to sink. Jesus said it is because Peter lost his faith. What caused him to lose his Faith? He left the Spiritual realm of belief when he looked at his situation from a worldly point of view.

Does this happen to you in your Christian walk? Of course it does. We get all caught up in the world around us, take our eyes, mind and heart off of Jesus and we forget the times God victoriously brought us out of our past trials and tribulations. As if each trial has the ability to overcome our senses and blinds us to what we know to be Truth.

It is a fact that lack of Faith ... Hinders miracles.

Even Jesus was unable to perform miracles due to lack of Faith.

Mark 6:1-6

6 And He went out from thence, and came into His own country; and His disciples follow Him.
2 And when the sabbath day was come, He began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing Him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto Him, that even such mighty works are wrought by His hands?
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not His sisters here with us? And they were offended at Him.
4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
5 And He could there do no mighty work, save that He laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6 And He marvelled because of their unbelief. And He went round about the villages, teaching.

Did you catch that? It is because a man or woman of God will not be believed in their own home or by their own kin therefore they cannot do miracles there.

In like manner God is unable to perform miracles in our lives if we lose our Faith or fail to believe.

Christian Miracles Bible Verses Warning
Miracles in the Bible Concerns

Now ... Let us take this a step further. It is obvious that Faith stops miracles from happening. Could this be why we doubt ourselves performing miracles in the name of Jesus as He said we would? Perhaps this rule of thumb that Jesus shared hinders many from performing the promise today. What promise? The promise by Jesus that we will perform miracles.

Matthew 21:21-22

21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

John 14:12-13

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Does our doubt make the Truth that Jesus just shared null and void? Ponder on the answer ... Only if you doubt.

Did you know that there are many that believe that miracles were only to be done back in Jesus' day? Does that make any sense at all? Especially with promises like this:

Acts 2:17-18

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Is prophesy not a miracle? Are visions?

What about His Two Witnesses during the last 3½ years of Tribulation?

Revelation 11:3-7

3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

Christian Miracles Bible Verses On Prophecy
Miracles in the Bible Predicted for the Future

Sounds like some serious Miracles will be going on in the future by God's chosen vessels.

No, my friends we will not waste any more time proving that God intends to work His miracles during this generation as well as every one before it.

The Truth is ... For one to suggest that God no longer has chosen vessels by which He performs His miracles is just another excuse to lack Faith.

On the other hand ... If you believe and have faith, the miracle happens not only for the subject but for the person by which the power of the miracle is used.

Matthew 9:22

But Jesus turned Him about, and when He saw her, He said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Matthew 15:28

Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Mark 10:52

And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

Christian Miracles Bible Verses Summary
Miracles in the Bible Conclusion

Faith is oft times hindered by our failure to keep our eyes on our Faith during trials and tribulations. Jesus made it clear that we can hold onto the Faith. This Faith is the key ingredient whether it is you that is performing the miracles or having miracles performed for you.
