Overweight Counseling

Overweight Discrimination

Is being overweight a sin? Is overweight discrimination a sin? Can being overweight keep you from God?

Get "over" weight!

Let's talk about it ... Honestly.

I'd like you to know first of all, that this is not a program designed to help you lose physical weight but will lift quite a burden off of your mind and heart. I'd like to share with you the Truth that being overweight may not be the big problem that most make it out to be, but may be (in some cases) God's solution to a problem that once existed or it may be the prevention of a problem that could happen if you weren't overweight.

Let's talk about the effects that your weight gain can have on your flesh. Most people today think that being overweight is a bad thing. There's no question that in excess it can be harmful to your health, just as anything else can, and many people who are overweight, suffer from physical illnesses that are definitely caused by overeating.

Please note:

Christianity Oasis does not suggest that anyone over-eat or over-fast. A balanced diet and/or a diet approved by a physician to be safe and healthy for you is recommended. This is simply Overweight Counseling for overweight discrimination.

Excess of anything is not good. However, most people who are overweight are affected even more deeply by the effects that it has on their spirit, rather than on their flesh.

Being overweight seems to have a stronger emotional effect on women, than it does on men, but many people, both men and women, live in a constant state of depression because of their weight. It's very disheartening to step on the bathroom scale each morning, praying that the number is lower than the day before. It can even affect your spirit for the whole day. You often despise yourself for losing control of your weight.

It doesn't have to be that way. All you have to do is look at it from a different point of view, like many other problems. The world doesn't like people that are overweight. If you're living to please the world, then being overweight is definitely going to hinder your 'success' ... But, if you're living to please God, being overweight, may just be a feather in your cap.

The worldly souls can be amazingly cruel sometimes. In this day and age, if you're not physically fit, attractive, young, and financially secure ... You will not be accepted in most worldly circles. Some people don't care about your feelings either, making jokes within earshot at the grocery store, at work, in restaurants, at school ... Actually, it doesn't matter where you are, people don't care, they're just plain insensitive to people who are overweight.

Overweight Counseling Truth
Overcoming Overweight Discrimination

The Joke is On Who?

I would like to introduce a rather unique view of being overweight to you that you will not see on television or hear from whispering friends. Let me ask you a simple and direct question ... Are overweight people as likely to participate in all the 'worldly' lures of our enemy (Satan) that thinner people participate in? Let's take a look at some of the lures the devil uses to entrap God's people. Fornication, infidelity, adultery, flirting, indecency, bar scene the list goes on and on.

Let's face it, the main reason most people want to be thinner, is to impress the worldly people around them ... They want to be more attractive to themselves and to other people. But the underlying question is ... Why? The answer is selfish pride.

Now, I want to take this time to say that I do not believe that all thin people are sinners or that you have to be overweight to be close to God. That's just silly. I am saying the world has a trend of overweight discrimination that has identified thin and beauty as being a sexual preference. The Television, movies, radio and even whispers from friends confirm this. You just remember that your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit and you must take care of it. I believe that one should try and maintain a healthy weight. But I do not believe Christians should be out there trying to please the worldly and letting the weight issue overwhelm them and affect their Christian walk.

That Being Said, Ponder on This Truth ...

You just don't hear many people say ... Ya know, if I was thinner, I could be closer to God, or if I wasn't so portly, I could sing better praises to my Lord, or, I could be a more loving person, if I were only thinner. If you think you'd be a happier person if you weren't overweight, it may be time to reevaluate your reasons.

What would be different if you weren't overweight? Remember, we're talking honestly now. Nobody here but you and God.

  • Will people find you more sexually attractive? Probably.
  • Will this make you more flirtatious? Probably.
  • Would you go out more often? Probably.
  • Would you become more promiscuous? Probably.
  • Would your morals change if you were thin? Probably.
  • Would you find yourself drifting away from God? Probably.
  • Can you see God working through you in any of those things?

Probably not!

Would you be more qualified to accept the Spiritual gifts from God? No.

Would you be a more compassionate person if you were thinner? No.

Would you be a better spouse, parent, child, student or employee? No.

Who would you say tends to live a more sinful lifestyle ... Overweight people, or thin people?

Overweight Counseling for You
Overcoming Overweight Discrimination Reason

Have you ever stopped to think that maybe God made you overweight for a purpose?

Look again ... The things that would change, if you weren't overweight anymore, are all things that would separate you from God.

God doesn't use a scale to weigh flesh ... His scale weighs sin and Faith. God doesn't care what you look like. Your body is dust, and it returns to dust when you die. It's your soul that really counts. God created you, you are made in His image ...

Genesis 1:26

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.

No matter what you look like outside, you are beautiful to Him inside.

1 Samuel 16:7

The Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

Sounds to me like ...

Fat is where it's at!

Check out what God says will happen to those who pridefully flaunt their beauty. It's not a very "pretty" picture.

Isaiah 3:16-26

16 Moreover the Lord saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts.
18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
21 The rings, and nose jewels,
22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
26 And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.

If you were thin, would you be at a Christian web site seeking for the Lord's guidance in your life? Honestly ... No. If you were thin would you be too busy to look into more Christian programs and studies that you've discovered here at the Oasis? Honestly ... Yes. Would you have other things in mind and heart that would take priority over strengthening your relationship with God?

Be honest ... Yes.

When this day is over, would you rather say to yourself ...

I have pleased man or I have pleased the Lord.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

Psalms 92:13-15

13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

Isaiah 58:11

And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Here's another little surprising fact. If vanity is something that's got a hold on you, and your appearance is more important to you than perhaps it should be, take a look. Did you know that Satan became prideful because of His beauty? He was the most beautiful of all God's Angels in fact. God gave him everything, and he was perfect until sin was found in him, then he brought sin to the world. So, knowing that, doesn't it make sense that satan would use beauty as a tool to coerce people into sin? It's the perfect trick. But in the end, God will destroy him, and those who follow his deception.

Ezekiel 28:12-19

12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

Overweight Counseling Warning
Overcoming Overweight Discrimination Danger

Don't be fooled by this world and it's lies that being thin is a ticket to happiness. The world has convinced people that being overweight is ugly. But the world has also taken beauty and turned it into something nasty, so now people think filth is beautiful.

Now That's Ugly!

Only you and God know why you want to lose weight. If you feel like the difference in your health would be make a significant change in your spirit and in the name of righteousness, you could better serve God, by all means, go for it. But, if being fat makes you unhappy because you feel like the world expects you to be thin and attractive. Who are you seeking to please?

Don't get me wrong now, God certainly doesn't want you to be depressed and unhappy about being overweight, but He will use drastic measures if necessary to prevent you from other evils. Take a look at your heart. Evaluate honestly whether or not you would be influenced by the evil of the world more readily if you were thin.

If you feel like you would maintain a strong relationship with God and shun the evil that the world will inevitably offer if you lost weight, then perhaps God was pruning you. Or taking something away (your vanity) in order for you to produce new growth (a closer relationship with Him). It may be that your pruning period is over with and your Faith can now withstand the temptations that it may have been too weak to handle before.

Again, don't get me wrong, many people just like to eat. They have strong relationships with God and resist the temptation of the world as well as any other Christian, and they are still overweight. Being overweight is either God's plan, or a result of our choices. Once you realize which one it is, then it becomes easier to deal with if it's something that bothers you.

Sometimes God uses different ways to get our attention, and maybe as your flesh started growing, you in turn, turned to God. You just never know. With God, all things are possible, and what seems like a bad thing, may have saved your soul.

So, for those to whom this Overweight counseling for the unrighteous overweight discrimination study was directed. It boils down to this ... Do you want to trade up your pleasingly plumpness for some more worldly wonders?

Fat Chance!

God may have led you here to show you that He's working through you, and not to worry about being overweight, or He may have led you here to show you that you're ready to lose some weight for your health's sake, but with caution to resist the temptation that will arise. Ask Him that His will be done, that He remains strong in you, and reveals to you what He wants you to do to best glorify Him. Ask Him for His guidance if your weight has become a health issue or an emotional burden in your life. Just be sure that when you lose weight, you don't lose God.

Now let me talk to you straight up. Let it be known that God oft times allows and even creates stumbling blocks where we will be unwanted by the world so that we will crawl into that secret place within ourselves and find Him.

Overweight Counseling Insight
Overcoming Overweight Discrimination Freedom

Once we gain understanding by way of Overweight counseling, we are then set free from this place and allowed to walk unencumbered among mankind again but this time with an inner strength and above all ... Truth. This is when we are allowed to choose to overcome the stumbling blocks that prevented us from being worldly.

The number one question a Christian soul will ask of itself when we tell ourselves we want to change something is ... Why.

You do not even know this process is ongoing because it takes place in the spirit of your mind. Many call this the subconscious mind. It is that part of you that drives you home when you are thinking about something else and you look up and you are in the driveway. It is Spiritual.

If the inner child which is growing Spiritually in Truth and having the Laws placed within by God does not buy the reasoning you give for wanting change or sees that it has the potential of having you back in man's world if you succeed ... It will create circumstance to cause failure.

Sooooooo, you best know what you want and why and it better be in harmony with what the inner child within which has been reborn is heading towards lest you find yourself warring against yourself. One is flesh and one is Spirit.

See the little pure Reborn one within knows that the flesh returns to the dust and that it is Spirit that matters so it wants one darn good reason why you wanna mess with success. It knows that you found God in this condition and has no intent on going back where you came from. So again ... The question it wants to know is ... Why?

That is why when you are tempted to eat you say to yourself ... Why not. It knows God has no scale in Heaven. It knows that if a person judges you by such things they are unworthy of friendship much less Love.

Now health issues come into play here and if that is why you want change and you reason with the little reborn child within, and they will hear and be in harmony and say to your spirit ... Let it be. And it will be. (See the Trinity study.)

My friend ... Like it or not the Christian walk is a process. All these people that say they believed in Jesus and everything was peaches and cream after that are lying. Those that say they have not sinned are lying. Doubt is a sin. Have they never doubted? To look upon another with lust is sin. Have they not done this? Are they perfect? We are to strive to be perfect but it is a process.

Paul's soul screamed out ... Oh wretched man that I am ... I do that which I would not do.

He is saying that he does what the little reborn child within ... Would not do.

Jesus was a sacrifice.

Long ago the sacrifices covered one sin.

Jesus is not that type of sacrifice. His blood covers a multitude of sin.

Past, present and future.

Wanna get a leash on this stumbling block?

First ... Determine if it is God's Will. If you cannot discern ...

Second ... Determine if it is a stumbling block.

Mankind used to think thin women were nasty. Now they think the opposite.

I saw in the grocery store the other day a magazine that showed women striving to be thinner than the next, and they looked like walking skeletons.

Is this why you seek to stop eating?

Your reborn child knows the heart as this reborn soul is you.

Third ... Determine if this stumbling block is gone, are you strong enough to stay on the path?

Because the little child within ... Knows Truth and will fight you every step of the way if they think for a second that you may fall away and blaspheme the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 6:4-6

4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the Heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good Word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame.

This is returning to your old ways like a dog to his vomit.

2 Peter 2:21-22

21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Overweight Counseling Facts
Overcoming Overweight Discrimination Time is Now

If you are thinking ... Wow is this guy weird or what. Typing about two people in me.

Not two people. Two personalities that were created.

Think Spiritually ...

I have a question for you.

When you were reborn ... Where does the other you go? You know ... The one that pops up from time to time.

It is living in the flesh crying out for the old ways that it became addicted to. It will continue to be there as we die in Christ daily.
This is a step at a time, day to day procedure.

This is a conversion. During the conversion of a butterfly, there is a metamorphosis occurring where it is part caterpillar and part butterfly.

Allow the process to finish.

Now some LOVE to say ... Ohhhhhhh, but the body is the Temple of God.

Am I not aware of that which I teach? And yet you do err in understanding as you see things in a carnal light and not Spiritual.

Yes, the body is the Temple of God, but God is a Spirit.

It is not the physical which goes into the body that is sin but the spiritual which comes out.

Mark 7:18-23

18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught,
purging all meats?

20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Overweight Counseling Summary
Overcoming Overweight Discrimination Can and Will Be Done

You want to watch what you take into your Temple?

Avoid taking in that which creates drama, gossip, violence, lust, greed, fear, doubt, anger, jealousy and any other foul emotion that defiles the Temple.

Excess in any thing oft times finds it's way to become sin, but one best find the origin and reason behind what they do before they allow someone to stereotype or classify them into some neat little man's world filing system.

Their beliefs do not define you.

To those that can hear:

Matthew 19:12

For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

One more thing ... Ever seen a group of butterflies?

Ever sit there and say ewwwwwwwww that one is fat?

Of course not ... You say ... How beautiful.

The butterfly does not think such things. Nor does any other species.

Only mankind thinks this way.

Who taught them this?

God?

Or the enemy of our souls?
