When I last wrote, I was disturbed about the temporary closing of a portion of the Christianity Oasis website. In my heart I wanted to believe that God would not all allow the ministry done in His name to be taken away. But, I was being realistic, facing the reality that without financial help the site would indeed close.
Many of us wrote letters, made phone calls and personal visits, seeking help for what some of the regular chatters call "home." The Lord heard our petitions, touched hearts and opened wallets. The funding needed was provided. I hope all of you know how much I appreciate your help. And could I ask one more favor? Would you continue to support this worthy ministry through your prayers and especially through your monetary gifts?
One of the daily Bible readings this week from Open Windows, published by Life-Way Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention, had some very appropriate words and I quote a portion. "Our Lord's unending love gives us great strength, even in the face of devastating trials." The temporary closure of our website was indeed a devastating trial. We knew the Lord was on our side ... that He would provide, but we were impatient. I believe that we Christians who were involved in this happening came out stronger for having been through this trial.
There is no need for me to go on and on about the closure, the provision for its re-opening or the joy that was felt by those wanderers who call the Oasis home. Just know this ... the Lord was in control. He got the attention of some who were not as close to Him as they should have been and as I have stated, he strengthened our Faith. God is good.
