Revealed by the Light

Written by Luz Leigh - 02 August 2010

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Ephesians 5:14

This verse of scripture was the basis for a devotional reading. The writer spoke of having undergone radioactive iodine treatment. A nuclear scan was used to detect any remaining areas of cancer in her body. What she found fascinating about the scan was the fact that it detected the presence of the radioactive glow, unseen to the naked eye, creating an image of light on a special film.

The nuclear scan reminded her of how "glowingly" her sin must appear to God in the light of His Word and His Holy Spirit. In the passage in Ephesians, chapter 5, we believers are reminded not to participate in works of darkness but instead we are to expose them to God's light.

Sometimes we try to ignore things in our lives that we know must grieve the Father, but those things are very obvious to Him. As a Christian, We must have the courage to scan ourselves daily in the light of His Word, letting His Spirit reveal clearly those areas of sin that need to be confessed and forgiven.

Only then can we receive a "clean bill of health." The following words are penned as a prayer.

Father, help me have the courage to come before You daily, seeking to be revealed by Your light, so that I may be in perfect fellowship with You.
