Brother's Keeper
Welcome Back to
My Brother's Keeper
Fishermen Bible Study
Step #13
Welcome back my friend!
I trust that you're waiting patiently to move on to the next step
each day. Your patience in following one step each day, will pay off
and you'll find it much easier to remember what you've learned.
Psalms 40:1
I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined unto me, and heard
my cry.
Nice to have you back again! Today's step is brief, but very
important. It's about record-keeping. Everyone would agree that if
you went to your doctor's office, it's important that he has your
chart while he's treating you, because things could end up
terribly if he mistakenly had someone else's chart. Or if he wasn't
thorough about taking notes, he may prescribe something that you're
allergic to, and you could end up in worse shape than you were in the
first place.
With that in mind, let's take a look at today's step. Some of Jesus'
Apostles were fishermen, but Jesus told them ...
Matthew 4:19
And He saith unto them, Follow me, and I will
make you fishers of men.
You follow in the
apostle's footsteps, spreading the Gospel of Christ to others and it's
an important job to do. You're not a medical doctor, but you do care
for the health and well being of peoples' souls.
Keeping track of your sheep is a smart thing to do because soon
you'll have many sheep, and it will be difficult to remember every
detail of each one's problem(s). A tiny detail of a sheep's problem
that may seem unimportant to you, may be huge to them, and you
could lose their confidence if you forget, so I'm going to show you
how to keep records that are necessary for your own success and the
benefit of those you help.
You can use the method that's easiest for you, whether it is a three
ring binder, or a spiral three subject notebook. You can keep track
of one sheep per subject, or you can keep all your records for one
day per page. You could also copy and paste any conversations you
have from the chat room to Notepad, and later on, hand write them to
the separate subject sections of your binder or notebook so that
you're not busy writing while you're counseling someone with a
problem, and you will have all the information from one person
together and available at a glance.
Simply write the sheep's name at the top of the page, then under it,
make 3 columns, one for the Date, one for any Comments
you have, and one for the Action that you took in helping
them. Your records will be helpful also, if you ever need help from
one of the Team Leaders with a situation that you're not sure how to
handle.

It is also helpful to have a set of different colored highlighters
for different thoughts discussions, and events. If you think of
something you would like to share with one of your sheep, but you are
unable to get in touch with them at that time, just jot it down in
the comment column of their sheep chart and highlight it in
yellow or the color of your choice.
Then, once you get a chance to contact your them, you can check it
off your list of things to do, so you know you've completed it. If
there is something important about a person, you can write it in the
comment column and highlight it in green
or whatever color you choose. These are merely examples. You should
choose to create a system that is easiest for you to follow.
Don't forget, you're the fishermen of today, and it's important to
keep your records, ship shape!
