The Spirit Sword Working in You
It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh
profiteth nothing: the Words that I speak unto you, they are
Spirit, and they are life.
Thank you for inviting Me again to commune and share time together with you. Now that you have got a better idea of how I can work through you, I'd like to show you how I can, and do, work in you. I give you life! I Am not only talking about walking, talking, breathing, eating, sleeping life, I Am talking about the Spiritual life which makes you vibrant and lively and zealous and inspired and passionate and enthusiastic and earnest. I put those qualities inside of you!
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be
Spiritually minded is life and peace.
The Spirit Sword - Will Power
Let's talk about the kind of power that I use when I work through you, for the benefit of your soul. I give you the power of will ... What does that mean to you? The power of will is determination. When you are determined about something, willing to do something, don't you feel more powerful?
The Sword of the Spirit Bible study trivia question ... Have you ever heard anyone say,
Where there's a will, there's a way! You need will power when you're faced with temptation. I Am your protector and defender from the enemy of your soul who orchestrates the temptations of everyday life. When temptation arises, I wait for you to ask Me for help. Just ask Me to help you to be strong whenever the world makes you feel like you may be weak. Your will power to resist temptation comes from Me.
The Sword of the Spirit Bible study tidbit of truth ... My friend, faith was designed so that your own will power alone isn't enough. You must depend on Me. Your human will power and your flesh can't hold a candle to the power that comes from Me. Ever had times in your life when no matter how hard you try, you just can't seem to do the right thing? You want to but, you can't. You strive to, you even practice it in your mind, but you don't follow through. You know what's wrong, and you do it anyway. Lean on Me at those times. It's the only way to overcome.
Precious heart, you are not the Lone Ranger, you know. It happens to everybody. Read what the Apostle Paul wrote about his own will power:
14 For we know that the law is spiritual:
but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that
do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the
law that it is good.
17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that
dwelleth in me.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth
no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform
that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which
I would not, that I do.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do
it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is
present with me.
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
23 But I see another law in my members, warring against
the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of
sin which is in my members.
24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the
body of this death?
25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then
with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh
the law of sin.
A chosen person of God had trouble with having strong enough will power to fight trials and temptation and he said thank God that Christ died for me and will deliver me from the anguish that my choices to adhere to the desires of this flesh puts me through. It's almost like your spirit is being held hostage by your choices to please the flesh at times, isn't it?
But notice, Paul said that he knows it is within him to do good, and wants to, but there's a war going on between the flesh and the spirit that makes him miserable! I know you can relate.
The Sword of the Spirit Bible Study Warning ... Don't believe the lies that the enemy puts in your mind to try and convince you that you are not worthy because this happens to you. It happens to all Christians. I Am here to assure you that I will help you. Jesus died for you too. And before He left He said, I will not leave you comfortless.
The only way that you could carry on without being comforted is if pride kept you from reaching out your hand and allowing Me to hold you close and cradle you in the love of Christ that can conquer anything. I Am real. He sent Me to take care of you. Do you think for one moment that I would let you down? Not a chance! Lean on me, dear one.
The Spirit Sword is an Intercessor
If you are chasing after your own will, you may have a little trouble catching it. But if the will of God is what you're after, My friend, I have good news for you ... You won't be sorry. When Jesus was on Earth, He taught to pray that God's will be done:
Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done in Earth, as it is in Heaven.
Another of the Sword of the Spirit Bible study tidbits of Truth ... The things that most people pray for are worldly things ... Things that the world promises are exciting or desirable. How many times have you searched for happiness this way, and was happy for a bit, but eventually found disappointment, or even more often, soon left you longing for yet something else that you thought you wanted even more? Worldly things are temporal, that's why God wants you to pray for His will for your life. When you follow God's plan, you will find what you are looking for Happiness and it is Eternal.
1 John 2:15-17
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the
world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the
Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but
he that doeth the Will of God abideth for ever.
The Apostle John, who was a very spiritual person, said to be
confident that if you ask for God's will to be done, He will hear and
grant your prayer.
1 John 3:22-24
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we
keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His
23 And this is His commandment, That we should believe on
the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He gave us
24 And he that keepeth His commandments dwelleth in Him,
and He in him. And hereby we know that He abideth in us, by
the Spirit which He hath given us.
1 John 5:14-15
14 And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that,
if we ask any thing according to His Will, He heareth us:
15 And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we
know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.
But, how are you to know what God's will is, so that you can pray for it? Here is the Sword of the Spirit Bible study secret recipe to success ... It is My job to see that God's will is done. Remember, He gives the order and I carry it out. So I help you to pray, because your spirit cries out when you long for something, but you don't really understand what's best or how exactly to ask for it. I understand what's best for you and I know what God's will is, so I intercede for you, and God gives the answer.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth
our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought:
but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for
us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the
mind of the Spirit, because He maketh intercession for the Saints
according to the Will of God.
28 And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according to His
God answers all prayers ... His answers are Yes, No, and Not now. But, He answers them all. At times when your prayers aren't answered exactly as you request, don't be disappointed. Understand that it wasn't His will for you, and you'd be disappointed or hurt in the end anyway. He's only looking out for you because He loves you so dearly.
The Sword of the Spirit Bible study reminder ... One thing is for certain ... God does want you to be happy. That is His will for you. The more you invite Me to work in you, the more your prayer life will change. You will find that you will want to ask God for things that make Him happy, and in turn, you will be happy.
4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and He shall give thee
the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He
shall bring it to pass.
Trust in Him ... Trust that His will is what will make you happy. As you trust in Him more and more, your soul will become stronger and more conformed to His image. And the more you become like Him, the closer you'll be to the center of His will. You are thankful for things that make you happy. God wants you to be thankful. God wants you to be happy and rejoicing for evermore ... It is His will.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of
God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
The Spirit Sword is Your #1 Defense
How else do I work within you? By protecting and defending your soul. If I Am within you ... If you're holding My hand, do you think that for one minute I would allow an evil spirit within? I Am to evil spirits, what light is to darkness! They simply cannot contend with Me.
And unclean spirits, when they saw Him, fell down before Him, and
cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will
flee from you.
I Am part of the Armor of God ... Your defense against anything spiritually harmful.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of
this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that
ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with
Truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel
16 Above all, taking the shield of Faith, wherewith ye
shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the Sword of
the Spirit, which is the Word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in
the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all Saints;
Sword of the Spirit is #1 Healing Power
How many people do you know, that have illnesses that they cannot
seem to overcome? Bi-polar or manic-depressives, hyperactive people,
people with phobias, Alzheimer's disease, bulimics, anorexics,
obesity, addicts, schizophrenics, pathological liars, serial killers,
psychotics, rapists, terrorists ... They're all diseases, whether
they're physical or not, and some cannot be cured by medical means.
Could they be caused by spirits and would healing be possible if
people tried to eliminate their "disease" by other means? Jesus said
certain kinds of spirits can come out only by prayer and fasting.
28 And when He was come into the house, His disciples
asked Him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
29 And He said unto them, This kind
can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
The Sword of the Spirit Bible Study Danger ... Temptation (which is presented to you by spirits) is the most lethal disease that the enemy of your soul will use to try and infect you.
1 Peter 5:8-10
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil,
as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same
afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all Grace, who hath called us unto His
eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while,
make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
Let's take a little Sword of the Spirit Bible study field trip and look at the many different kinds of spirits.

The Spirit Sword is Yours to Use
The Sword of the Spirit Bible Study Rules
How does one eliminate a spirit? I'll say again, If I Am within you and if you have hold onto My hand, do you think that for one minute I would allow an evil spirit within? Just remember, they are out there, and they love a nice clean house to squat in. What do I mean by that? Well, the closer you get to Me, the more Satan is worried that he is losing the battle for your soul. So, if your soul is clean, he is going to send his goons to try and get you even more diligently. And if they had influenced or resided within said dwelling before, they believe they can overcome it again.
43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he
walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence
I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and
45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other
spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there:
and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall
it be also unto this wicked generation.
But they can not when the house is mine!
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
19 What? know ye not that your body is the
temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of
God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God
in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
Here is yet another Sword of the Spirit Bible study tidbit of Truth to ponder upon ... The Lord wants to remove Satan and his demons from your life. And to fill the void, He fills you with the Holy Spirit ... No vacancy for unwanted spirits. When you need Me, just say,
Holy Spirit, please help me! I Am only a breath away.
Jesus said I would abide in you:
16 And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you
another Comforter, that He may abide with
you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of Truth; whom
the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth
Him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Abide ... Remain ... Stay. As long as I abide in you. That is, as long as you allow Me, I will not allow evil spirits to harm you. Stay with Me, and I'll stay with you forever. Does that mean you'll never be sick a day in your life? I Am afraid not. And why? Remember when we talked about man being able to choose things, and other innocent people being affected? That's why. Let's call it the "puppet" principle.
The Sword of the Spirit Bible study scenario ... Perhaps you are still questioning whether or not unclean spirits are related to some illnesses and diseases. Of course they are not always related, but do you believe it isn't possible? If your body is ill, the strength of your spirit will keep it going, but if your spirit is weakened and you drift away from Me and My power and strength that works in you, then you can be more vulnerable to illness and disease.
The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit
who can bear?
The Spirit Sword is Great for Challenges to Your Faith
How else do I protect and defend you? When people challenge your faith, I'll be there, if you will just call on Me. Don't worry about what to say. Ask Me, and I'll tell you, but I need you to trust Me completely.
19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or
what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what
ye shall speak.
20 For it is not ye that speak, but the
Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
The Sword of the Spirit - #1 Defense Against Yourself!
We both know there have been countless times you came so close to doing or saying something that could have been absolutely disastrous, but because of My sometimes gentle and other times brutal nudging, you had a change of heart and avoided many a catastrophe. You are welcome! 😇
Did you know also that working within you, I give you the power to
21 Then said Jesus to them again,
Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them,
and saith unto them, Receive ye
the Holy Ghost:
23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto
them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
How else can I work in you? I can help you to understand the messages in the Bible, because I was the One that God used to inspire the men who wrote it ... I Am the original author in other words.
2 Peter 1:21
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy
men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
The Sword of the Spirit request ... Invite Me to be your storyteller when you pick up your Bible. I'll make the pages come alive and we can spend hours together while I pour out My wisdom to you and reveal the Truth that at one time didn't make much sense to you. Ever procrastinate about reading the Bible because you're afraid you won't understand it ... So why bother? I'll be your reading partner and teach you the things you don't understand.
The Sword of the Spirit Bible Study Suggestions ... Let's read the Bible together every morning. I will speak to you from the Bible and your day will go better. You may not see My face, but know, I Am there, and you'll get to know My personality. When you want to communicate with Me, ask Me a question ... Ask Me to show you My answer in the Word (The Bible) and then close your eyes and open your Bible randomly to any page (don't plan what page to open it to) and read until you find the answer. You'll begin to discover what the Bible is all about.
This is very much like casting Lots, which the Apostles did when they needed to replace Judas.
24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest
the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship,
from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own
26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon
Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven Apostles.
Let the Word of the Bible envelop your heart. Read between the lines:
2 Corinthians 3:6
Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not of the
letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter
killeth, but the Spirit giveth life.
The Sword of the Spirit Bible Study Promise ... I look forward to studying and praying with you. When you leave your study place, ask Me to join you, and I will. You'll actually feel My presence running through you. I'll accompany you through your entire day, if you desire My presence. If you take Me for granted, I won't leave you, but you'll feel the distance between us until you appreciate Me once more.
The Spirit Sword and You - Partners in Power
Not only am I your counselor, guide, and coach, but I Am also your best friend. I know you better than anyone else in the world knows you. I Am omniscient ... That means that I have complete knowledge of everything. I Am the only One who can read your mind. I know you better than you do ... And not only do I know everything about you, but I understand everything about you too.
1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou
understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art
acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord,
thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine
hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I
cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy Spirit?
or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
So who better is there to confide in?
The Sword of the Spirit Bible study reminder ... When you ask Me questions, I search the mind of God and guide you to do the right thing. Listen for My voice through other Christians, through the pages of the Bible, through the still small voice that whispers to you, through twinges of your conscience, through a gentle breeze or even a thunder roll. As you grow closer in friendship with Me, you'll recognize My voice more and more clearly, but just like any relationship, you will have to get to know Me better to understand Me more, and the only way that can happen is for us to spend time together.
I Am the way, the Truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the
Father, but by Me.
Remember the very first scripture in Step 1 ... Jesus called Me the
Spirit of Truth?
Scripture also says that the way to Jesus is by Me.
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit,
if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.
Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ,
he is none of His.
1 Corinthians 12:3
Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the
Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that
Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.
So, the way to God is through Jesus, and the way to Jesus is through Me.
The Spirit Sword - Nurture the Friendship
Have you ever experienced loneliness? If you have, you don't ever have to worry about that again. I'll be there, whenever you call. I Am a true blue friend, and you can count on that. We'll do so many exciting things together. Let's make plans together. If you ever feel that things are not right between us, talk to Me about it. There's no sense in walking around wondering, when you can fix it immediately. If you don't, things will begin to change in your life, and you'll feel My presence ebbing away.
Walk and talk with Me daily.
The Sword of the Spirit Bible study vow ... The more time you spend between visits with Me, the more distant we will become. The more time you spend with Me, the closer we'll become. Every morning, say,
Good Morning Holy Spirit, and at night say,
Good Night Holy Spirit, the same as you would a friend, spouse child or anyone else you loved. Introduce Me to others. Tell them all about Me, as I'll tell the Father all about you. Tell Me your plans for the week, the day, the hour, the minute. Tell Me what you long for, and what annoys you. Tell Me your silliest stories, and your most serious concerns. Pour out your heart to Me. Sing Me a song.
Escape to the spiritual realm with Me.
Don't you know that I love you?
Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him:
God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Spend time listening to and for Me.
With any friend you have, you not only talk to them, but you listen to them as well. Don't just talk to Me ... Listen. I like your undivided attention. I know, your mind is a busy place, and at times it's difficult to clear your mind so that I can have it all to Myself, but this is something you will learn to love about Me ... The serenity of clearing your mind to listen to Me.
It may take a bit. Be patient. Seek for My voice in different forms.
- The Word
- A still small voice
- A light flickering
- A chill up your spine
- A gentle breeze
- A dream
- Sounds of the house settling (even stuff like that, I Am creative!)
- And so many others
