As we continue studying the Gospel, prepare to delve into the Legion
Bible story sharing one of the most intriguing stories about a herd
of swine and a group of devils who are called Legion in the Bible.
Buckle up !!! When Jesus and His disciples arrived on the other side
of the sea of Galilee, in the country of the Gergesenes, there was a
man that had been possessed by devils for a long time. He lived in
the tombs and he was so frightening that nobody would pass by. He was
kept in chains at first but he broke the chains and the devils drove
him out into the wilderness.
The Legion Bible story then says that the devils called out from the
man to Jesus as He came near and asked ... What business do you have
with us Jesus, Son of God? Have you come to torment us? Jesus asked,
What's your name? And he said, Legion; because many demons had
possessed him. They begged Jesus not to send them into the abyss.
Now, let us take a short Who is Legion Bible story field trip to learn more of this evil entity and the place known as the abyss. What the heck is the abyss? If you like elaborate explanations of things, you can think of it this way: It's the chaos and utter darkness. It is a Spiritual Realm of torment, pain and suffering.
It's one of those things that are difficult to put into words and if you think about it long enough, you may need aspirin, but you could look at it this way: God existed always. He always was and He always will be. For ever and ever and ever. Now that first part (He always was) is hard to comprehend because infinity in our minds only goes in one direction for some reason.
So just as nobody can tell you when the beginning of the existence of God is, neither has anyone been to the abyss and back to explain it's locality and details, but in simpler terms, it's the bottomless pit. If that's part of the universe to the "scientific" mind, it doesn't really matter. In short, it's not a desirable place. Now, back to our Who Is Legion Bible Story introducing the mysterious herd of devils known as Legion in the Bible and what they have to do with a herd of swine.
There was a herd of swine feeding on the mountain and the demons that possessed this man begged Jesus that He would allow them to enter into the swine instead of being sent into the abyss. Whoa, this Legion Bible story is saying that these evil spirits named Legion in the Bible asked Jesus to allow them to spiritually possess the herd of swine instead of going to the Abyss? Talk about weird. What became of these evil entities after that in the thought provoking, Legion Bible story?
Jesus said, Go, and when the devils came out, they entered the herd of swine and the whole herd ran violently down to a deep place in the sea and the swine died in the waters. The keepers of the herd of swine fled and told everyone in the city and the country how Jesus healed the man by simply telling the devils to leave him. So, the herd of swine, possessed with Legion in the Bible, committed suicide? But why? Was it because they would rather die than be possessed by this Legion Bible entity? Ponder on that for a minute.
Meanwhile, back in our Who is Legion Bible story ... The entire city came to see what happened. When they found Jesus and saw the man who the devil was cast out of, sitting at Jesus' feet and in his right mind, it scared them. All the people of the Gergesenes requested that Jesus leave their country because they were so afraid because of what they had seen and heard.
The man who Jesus healed asked if he could follow Him, but Jesus sent him home saying, Go to your own house and show the great things God has done for you. So the man went his way and spread the news through the whole city of the miracle Jesus did for him.
Why wouldn't Legion want to go into the abyss? The answer is simple.
The answer is that these evil
spirits have been sentenced to living on the earth until the
consummation of the world and they want a body to live in so they can
feel again. You know ... Experience things using someones or
somethings body. They're thirsty and hungry and miserable and ...
worse.
The Legion Bible Story begs the question be answered ... What
happened after the herd of swine died? The answer ... Those evil
spirits had to depart the herd of swine and wander about looking for
another person to reside in. Then they try to get that person to do
all kinds of evil that they conjure up. Even you if they can.
The Legion Bible story giving us a glimpse into the spirit world
shared of Legion in the Bible being able to actually transfer from
one entity to the other. That sounds frightening. The great news is
that you have the choice of whether you want to allow them in as to
control your mind and actions ... Or not. Learn to recognize evil and
just say no, and you'll be safe from them. You probably know someone
who has experienced evil spirits before, but just thought they were a
bad soul. But, something to keep in mind is that the words and
actions of someone who an evil spirit is working through, are not
coming from that person.
We have discovered from our Who is Legion Bible story that Evil spirits like
Legion in the Bible don't like to be identified, but the sooner they
are, the sooner they can be forced to leave, kind of like mildew to
light. Just because you see mold in the back of your refrigerator one
day, that doesn't mean you'll never use your refrigerator again. You
clean it out and you think it cleansed once again, but if you weren't
there to help it, it could become an huge ugly problem.
Our Who Is Legion Bible Story with that absolutely mysterious herd of swine
suicide shares that sometimes things like pride, selfishness, greed,
lust, jealousy, gluttony, anger ... they can be evil spirits. You can
identify them in yourself as well as others. Follow Jesus' example.
Identify them, speak it out loud, then tell them truth and tell them
to Go, in Jesus' name! Tell them you belong to Jesus.
You will be shocked at how quickly the mind and heart clear.
Here is a example of that. You're driving along and you get cut off
by someone. After you compose yourself and make sure you're in
control of your vehicle, you feel the urge to get back at the person
who cut you off. You cuss a little and start debating with yourself
whether you're gonna cut them off, like they did you, or if you're
gonna get in front of them and then slam your brakes on. Okay,
the little evil spirit imp was waiting for a weak moment to get in,
and bingo, you're on your way to destruction. (Yours and
somebody else's in this case.)
Here's how to identify (according to the Legion Bible story) realize
that you've been "tagged" by some entity like Legion in the Bible.
The sooner you recognize it the better. Take a deep breath and say,
What is the truth? This person didn't want to cut me off, (unless
they are dealing with evil spirits of their own) they probably
dropped a cigarette or a bee flew in their window, or they spilled a
hot drink on themselves, etc. (You know, the same things that have
happened to you all the times that you've cut someone else off in
traffic.) Now you've looked your anger in the face (identified it)
and you can release it.
Tell it to Go! By doing this, you've stopped it from
escalating into a bad day at work, which would evolve into being in a
bad mood when you get home where your innocent loving family awaits
your angry arrival. Get the idea? Evil spirits like creating a
vicious cycle of anger, hurt and pride. This example is a simple one
to overcome. You'll find that pride is the most difficult to
identify, but with practice, and the help of the Holy
Spirit, you can do it easily.
So, what have we learned from the Who Is Legion Bible Story reveals that the
identity of Legion in the Bible was many spirits living in in a man
until they asked to be allowed to enter the herd of swine and reveals
that evil spirits can dwell within animals ... and people, as you
will soon discover.
