NOAHS ARK
CHRISTIANITY
OASIS HAS PROVIDED YOU WITH THIS NOAHS ARK STUDY. MOST HAVE
HEARD OF THE STORY OF NOAHS ARK BUT MOST ARE NOT AWARE OF THE WHOLE
NOAH'S ARK STORY. FOR EXAMPLE, MOST BELIEVE THAT THERE WERE ONLY TWO OF
EVERY ANIMAL ON NOAHS ARK. THIS IS JUST NOT TRUTH.
(Genesis
7:1-3) IT CLEARLY STATES THAT ON NOAHS ARK, THERE WERE TWO OF
EVERY UNCLEAN ANIMAL AND SEVEN OF EVERY CLEAN ANIMAL TAKEN ON NOAHS ARK.
THIS WAS DONE BECAUSE AFTER DURING THE TIME THEY WERE ON NOAH'S ARK AND
AFTER THEY GOT OFF OF NOAH'S ARK THEY WOULD NEED CLEAN ANIMALS TO SACRIFICE
TO GOD AND TO EAT PLUS THOSE THAT WOULD REPOPULATE THE EARTH.
LET US SEEK AND FIND THE TRUTH OF THE STORY OF NOAH'S ARK TOGETHER, SHALL
WE?
BOOK OF GENESIS
CHAPTERS 6, 7 AND 8
Ahoy there! Welcome aboard!
This is the Bible Study of Noah's Ark. Before we sail on into the story about Noah’s Ark, there’s a little history
lesson that we’re going to wade through for a minute or two.
As we discussed in
the Adam and Eve
study, the
third son born to Adam and Eve was named Seth. Seth’s great great
great grandson was named Enoch. Enoch was the seventh generation from
Adam. Enoch was a prophet. A prophet is a person that God tells
or shows things to. This is what happened in these first generations of mankind before
the Great Flood.
The Watchers of heaven,
Sons of God, or angels as we call them were created by God and He made them spiritual, with no flesh,
They had eternal life, and were not subject to death
for all the generations of the world. God didn’t make wives for them,
because being spiritual with their home in heaven, they didn’t need wives.
Now in those years before
the Flood, some of these angels looked down on the earth. They thought that
the daughters of men on earth were beautiful, so, instead of staying in
Heaven with God, they came down and made them their wives. The angels
taught them secret sins. When they had children, they were born of
spirit (from the angels) and of flesh (from the humans) and they became
giants. (Genesis 6:2-4)
People joke about things like
this, thinking it’s not real, but have you ever thought … where did all the
evil in the world come from, anyway? Well, as we learned in the story of
Adam and Eve, satan started it. And now we’ve learned that some angels who
thought earthly things were better than Heaven, joined in.
According to
the book of Enoch these fallen angels will be put into everlasting chains in
Hell and their offspring (The Giants) are now the evil spirits which work
for satan trying to lure us to sin. See they have no flesh and are only
spirits so they try and enter us so they can FEEL again. They are subject to
Jesus though and belief in Jesus and watching what you allow into your mind
and heart will keep you safe from these imps. They are sentenced to doom in
the end (Jude 1:6)
So you see, God was so upset
with it all, that He regretted creating man and decided to destroy them all
with a flood. HOWEVER, there was a man named Noah, whose family was worthy
in God’s eyes and He decided to save them.
Okay, take hold of your life jackets because now we’re going aboard the ark.
God told Noah to make an ark out of gopher wood. He told him all the
measurements to use and how to build it. It was 450 feet long, 75 feet
wide, and 45 feet tall. Have you ever seen a cruise ship or a military
ship? You can compare it in size to one of those. That’s a
pretty big ship for an old man and his family to build, wouldn’t you think?
When the ark was finished, there were only eight people on it. They
were Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives.
Most people believe that the animals on board the ark were two of every kind
that God created. BUT the TRUTH is that there were seven of each clean
(acceptable for sacrificing) animal and two of each unclean. That is a
fact that a lot of folks missed because of our little toddler Bible story
books that don’t elaborate on the things that aren’t cute. But a fact is a
fact. There were two of each animal that were not used as sacrifices and
seven of the ones that were used to sacrifice. (Genesis
7:1-3)
See the people of God would sacrifice an animal to God back then and if they
only had two of each kind of the animals that they sacrificed to God, the
breed of animal could not reproduce if the sacrificed one or both so they
brought extra to sacrifice to God.
Now here’s an interesting question. How
did Noah get them all on the ark, anyway? Well, you’ve heard of instinct?
God took care of all that and He warned these animals and they all went to
the ark. Pretty cool huh?
Once God closed the door to
the ark, it rained for forty days and the water covered the mountains.
Everything that lived on dry land died. It must have been quite a task
feeding and cleaning up after that many creatures, great AND small.
Don’t forget, each and every one of them had to be fed and watered every
day.
Now, imagine you’re Noah, and it has rained for 40 days and then after that
the ark has been floating around for so many days, and that seasick feeling comes and goes when you
think about the comfort of your nice warm dry tent. You pray, a lot. It’s
been many days since you last heard the majestic voice of God. Then, God
remembers you, and a wind kicks up and the water goes down. Slowly, but
surely you begin to see the tops of the mountains and the ark settles into
the side of one to rest. If you can just feel the relief of those beloved
people of God. The only eight people left on the earth.
Noah opened
the window of the ark and he sent out a dove but the dove couldn’t land
anywhere, so she returned to Noah. Two weeks later, the dove didn’t come
back and he knew the water was all dried up.
They finally landed on mount Ararat but they still could not get off the
boat due to the mud. All in all they were on the ark for 370 days. That's a
lil over a year. Think they didn't have sea legs?
Then God told Noah to leave
the ark with his family and to set all the animals free to fill up the earth
again. So, it was a fresh start for mankind. Noah built an altar and
remember those extra clean animals that were on the ark? You guessed it,
Noah sacrificed them to God from time to time. And God smiled in His heart
and promised He would never flood the world again or destroy every living
thing. As a sign of His promise God made a rainbow, so that every time it
rains, a rainbow will appear and we would
remember His promise.
Hope you enjoyed the excursion
on Noah’s ark. Be sure to take God as your life jacket, wherever your
destination is and be sure to come back and travel through the rest of this
Bible Study with Daily Bread.
