Who is Satan Bible Study

Evil Satan Bible Verses

Satan ... Also known as the devil, Lucifer and other names is best known for taunting and haunting humans for a very long time. But, the origin of Satan in the Bible Bible is quite different. Once being a beautiful angel of God, the devil Satan was given a management position of sorts. However, he changed when pride entered his heart.

In short, the Satan Origin story reveals that somewhere along the line, the devil AKA Lucifer and Satan decided that he no longer wanted to serve God and even sought to hurt God by hurting God's creation ... Humans. Did you know that it says in the bible that the devil Satan stands in line to accuse humans of sins that they commit so they will be in trouble even though it usually him and/or his imps that lured these poor unaware souls into the sin?

Job 1:6-7

6Now there was a day when the sons of God (Angels) came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.
7And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

1 Peter 5:8

5 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Revelation 12:10

And I heard a loud voice saying in Heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the Kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

So again, Satan walks around trying to harm Christians and he and his fallen angels stand in line before God and tattle on humans for the poor choices that humans make when it was they who constantly lured humans into making sinful choices. Kind of like when we were kids and our older brother or sister had us steal some cookies and when mom or dad found out, the sibling pointed at us. Fortunately we have a loving and merciful Heavenly Father who knows Satan's intent.

Satan Origin Secret ... Satan has a plan and had the evil plot from early on. His plan is to deceive mankind in a vain attempt to take over possession of their soul, as to try to hurt God. In the origin of Satan in the Bible verses, we read that Satan came in the form of a serpent in the Garden of Eden seeking to deceive Eve which then brought Adam into what is now known as the Original Sin.

If you are a Christian, you know that as much as you try, you oft times find yourself sinning again even after repenting. Did you know that this is because of what is known as the Original Sin which is the sinful nature that every human has inherited because of the original sinful choice that Adam and Eve made thousands of years ago in the Garden of Eden, when tempted by evil Satan. Due to this choice made by the first man and woman ... The Sin is now in the flesh of all mankind and when we are born, we are destined to death unless we make the choice to believe in Jesus.

Romans 5:12

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

1 Corinthians 15:22

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

We have been given another ingredient to the Satan Origin recipe. According to the origin of Satan Bible verses, Satan was a murderer from the beginning and abode not in the Truth. He was/is a liar, and in fact was the father of it:

John 8:44-47

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

We have just discovered two of the characteristics that Satan uses to deceive and harm humans. Let's take an Origin of Satan in the Bible field trip to find out more about how this Original Sin came about and more importantly how it affects Christians and potential Christians today.

Genesis 2:15-17

15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt NOT eat of it:

Satan Origin in Eden
The Origin of Satan in the Bible Story

Tree of the knowledge of good and evil ... If one was to eat from this tree, they would suddenly KNOW the difference between good and evil when beforehand, they had no clue. Innocent by way of ignorance of the law. Think about that for a second. Once you know the difference between good and evil, you become aware and therefore become responsible for the evil that you choose to do. Obviously this is because then you now know better and choose to sin anyway.

But, if you do not know the difference between good and bad, is it sin? For example, if a baby took a piece of candy off a stand in the checkout aisle of the grocery store while his mother unloaded the groceries onto the checkout conveyor belt, it certainly would not be deemed as stealing, because an infant does not know better. Partaking of the fruit of this particular tree in Eden bestowed upon the partaker(s) the knowledge of what is good and what is evil. In other words, at that time, Adam didn't know what evil was, but if he ate from the tree, he would then know right from wrong.

Quick Satan Origin Fact ... Some people believe that it was an apple that Adam and Eve ate. But, the Truth is that it does not say it was an apple. Some others believe that the forbidden fruit is an euphemism for sex, but the Truth is, that it doesn't say that either. It says that it was the Tree of Knowledge between Good and Evil and the fruit from said tree would do just that. Make them aware of sin.

James 4:17

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Let's go back to the Garden of Eden ...

Evil Satan Bible Verses Explained

Genesis, Chapter 3

1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And He said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16 Unto the woman He said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17 And unto Adam He said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

We're gonna go behind the scenes now for a few moments in our evil Satan Origin Bible study and do a little background check on the serpent that appears in our story of the origin of Satan in the Bible event.

Satan Origin Choices
The Origin of Satan in the Bible Fall

Let's recap ... There is one of many devils known as Satan in the Bible, who is the prince or leader of all devils, and his name is Lucifer. He fell by choosing to disobey God and wanting to be like God.

Isaiah 14:12-16

12 How art thou fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

Satan Origin Bible study post it note: Lucifer (son of the morning) wanted to be God. "I will be like the Most High," he said. Satan is not omniscient, in other words, he does not possess infinite knowledge and/or understanding so he cannot read your mind. What we commonly refer to as "the devil" are really a multitude of fallen (traitor) angels who turned away from God to pursue evil. So this "devil" that entered the garden in the form of a snake ... May or may not be Satan himself. It is believed that it is Satan because of this Scripture which was speaking of Satan:

Ezekiel 28:13-19

13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub [Angel] that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

So we have even more origin of Satan in the Bible clues ... Satan was full of wisdom, perfect in beauty. He was in Garden of Eden. God created him and gave him everything, he was an anointed cherub (Angel), He was upon the holy mountain of God, He was perfect from his creation until sin was found in him, His beauty and wisdom caused vanity, He defiled sanctuaries by the abundance of sin and that God will destroy Satan when the time comes, by casting him into the Lake of Fire forever.

Wow, we have obtained quite a lot of Satan origin puzzle pieces ... Our Biblical Satan Bible study finds a secret pattern hidden within the evil Satan Bible verses. Satan has had his plan to have humans sin and be sentenced to hell and then the Lake of Fire along with him and his fallen angels. He actually waits in line to accuse God's people to see that his plan comes to pass. Thank God for His amazing Grace.

This devil named Satan is also known as the prince of power of the air. The spirit that works in children of disobedience.

Ephesians 2:2

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.

This fallen Angel and devil known as Lucifer and Satan is also known as the prince of this world (An administration or job title) and this particular will lose His position and Satan the prince of this world for now, shall be fired and evicted from God's property.

John 12:31

Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

And the prince of this world is to be judged.

John 16:11

Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

Tempting Biblical Satan Bible Study
Lures of Evil Satan Bible Verses

The devil tempts all, even Jesus was tempted by this devil.

Luke 4:2-12

2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days He did eat nothing: and when they were ended, He afterward hungered.
3 And the devil said unto Him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God.
5 And the devil, taking Him up into an high mountain, shewed unto Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said unto Him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.
9 And he brought Him to Jerusalem, and set Him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto Him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
10 For it is written, He shall give His Angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

This is one of the very comforting Satan Bible verses that share with us that Satan will stop bothering you if you resist him. You can do this by submitting to God. So, submit to God and choose to resist the devil and he will leave.

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Ephesians 6:11

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

How do you submit to God? We know the devil likes to deceive us so we are to put on the Armour of God in order to fend off his various attempts to CON-fuse us thereby hoping to CON-demn us:

Again, the Satan Bible verses reveal that Satan is your adversary and Satan the devil, seeks to devour Christians. But, we have the ability to resist him with Faith in Jesus. Other Christians are enduring various afflictions from Satan too. You are not alone:

1 Peter 5:8-9

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

The origin of Satan in the Bible exploration also shares with us that Satan is also known as the dragon which deceiveth the whole world. Some shall leave Christianity, giving in to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. In particular during the End Times.

1 Timothy 4:1

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

However, one can overcome Satan by way of the Blood of the Lambwhich the Blood of Jesus which was spilled for our sins. After the coming End Times is over and Antichrist and the false prophet have been defeated by Jesus at a place called Armageddon, which is an event that occurs just before the joyous one thousand year period of time of peace known as the Millennium, Satan will be cast into the Bottomless Pit for 1000 years.

Revelation 20:2

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years.

After the one thousand years is over, Satan is released from the pit and he begins to fulfill his evil plan, yet again as he did in the Satan original plan and deceives people again to attend the battle of Gog and Magog which is a Spiritual war with God and His people. God puts an end to the nonsense immediately by bringing down fire upon his armies. Satan is then judged and sentenced to the Lake of Fire where he will stay forever.

Revelation 20:10

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Satan Origin Tidbit of Truth ... Today, Satan knows that his time is short. He is going to do some horrible things during the End Times through Antichrist. Another Important Satan Bible study point of interest is that many feel that because Satan is the enemy of our souls that we can go around cussing and cursing him.

The Bible is absolutely clear on this issue:

2 Peter 2:10-11

10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
11 Whereas Angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

Satan Origin and Peter
The Origin of Satan in the Bible and Jude

The wording of these Evil Satan Bible verses does not reflect the resistance of mankind against human government ... But rather mankind speaking against supernatural powers and authority. This is proven when it says Angels fear to bring accusation against these "dignities" ...

Angels certainly do not fear to bring accusation against a human. Furthermore, the word "dignities" comes from the Greek word "doxa," which is translated as being "supernatural powers." The book of Jude further explains:

Jude 1:8-9

8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
9 Yet Michael the Archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

The Origin of Satan in the Bible trek for truth suggests that the Christian enemy known as Satan is of such "high authority" that even the Archangel Michael does not make accusations against Satan but but simply said "the Lord rebuke you."

High Authority? How is that you may ask.

Our enemy of the soul and spiritual adversary Satan was chosen by God. If even Michael ... An Archangel chooses not to accuse Satan of being this or that but only says "The Lord rebuke thee" ... Shouldn't we as mere humans follow suit? God created Satan which means Satan belongs to God.

It is actually very simple ... The Bible is crystal clear that the Origin of Satan in the Bible was beautiful and so was he. The Satan origin problem began when pride had him make poor choices and he is now bound to them. God is allowing evil Satan to finish out his "term" until the allotted time is over. Here is wisdom ... It is always best to watch your own fruits (Words and deeds) as well as the fruits of others so that you can to determine if the fruits are of Satan origin.

Galatians 5:19-23

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

As you can see ... Anger, hatred, wrath, etc. are fruits of the flesh and to hold these fruits within is not righteous. But the fruits from the Spirit are what we should be obtaining and maintaining:

Ephesians 5:9-10

9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
