TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE DIVINE

They say that Alexander Pope was the author of these words but it is obvious the source was from the Bible.

He, like most Christians understand that ...

TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE DIVINE

When it comes to forgiving others as the Bible makes clear.

HOWEVER ... THE WORDS TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE DIVINE APPLY EVEN TO FORGIVING OURSELVES.

It seems every time we turn around ... We make a poor choice.

Oft times these choices make family and friends turn against us.

We can even turn on ourselves.

We repent but still feel ... WRONG.

As tho God is still against us.

But, He is NOT.

TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE DIVINE STUDY ON TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE DIVINE QUOTE MEANING WITH TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE DIVINE QUOTE MESSAGE ON TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE DIVINE TRUTH

Romans 8:31-33
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

When God chooses someone and is on his or her part, who can stand against them?

And if they try and do so, are they not standing against God Himself when they do so?

Romans 8:34
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us

The dictionary defines intercession as … A prayer to God on behalf of another person or the act of intervening (as to mediate a dispute, etc.); "it occurs without human intervention" ...

So, Jesus is the mediator between mankind and God.

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Knowing this … Paul is asking who has the right to condemn us when we fall … When our Lord Jesus died for us and is making intercession for us to our Father? The answer is … NOBODY. Their beliefs do NOT define us. What our Lord believes of us is what is REAL as only He knows the heart of man.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

NOTHING OR NOBODY CAN SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OUR LORD HAS FOR US. Tho many would like for us to believe this about ourselves at times due to our poor past choices resulting in sins. The Word of God ASSURES us that our Salvation is not determined by man … Thank GOD huh?

I would like to take a look at two men from the Bible who did HORRIBLE acts and yet were or became two of the most Spirit filled men in the Bible, loved and highly favored by God.

TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE STORY ON TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE EVENT WITH TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE DIVINE MESSAGE

We will begin with … David.

In 2 Samuel, Chapter 11 … We find that King David desired Uriah’s wife Bathsheba, so David had sex with her and she got pregnant. David tried to get her husband Uriah to come lay with his wife, so that he would think it was his own child, but he refused and said he would not enjoy such comforts while his brethren were at war. Then David had Uriah killed by placing him on the front line of a war that was ongoing between Israel and another nation, and after he was dead, took Bathsheba to be his wife.

In 2 Samuel, Chapter 12 … We find that in punishment for this, God said the child conceived between David and Bathsheeba would die and the child did die. After this a child from David and the SAME woman became the next King of Israel and was blessed by God. His name was Solomon. In fact … God chose JESUS to be placed in that SAME bloodline.

So David was an adulterer and a murderer, but he REPENTED to GOD. When we repent to GOD and our loving Father forgives … God TRULY forgives:

Psalms 103:12
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Man has NO RIGHT to try and have us carry guilt when GOD forgave as tho we require they repent to US as well. NOTHING and NOBODY can separate us from God’s Grace. When God says, it is gone. Brothers and sisters … IT IS GONE.

The next man I would like to talk about made HORRIBLE choices yet was later used by God.

His name was Paul.

In Acts chapters 7, 8 and 9 we are introduced to a man named Saul, which would later have his name changed to Paul and become the tool that God would use to reach Gentiles (Those other than Jews)

Saul (Paul) was present at the stoning to death of a man of God named Stephen and consented to his death. He made havock of the church, entering into every house, and taking men and women to prison. He even asked the High Priest at the time, if he could get permission to go to Damascus to round up Christians there and bring them back to Jerusalem to imprison them. He was granted permission.

In Chapter 9 of the Book of Acts, we see that a funny thing happened on the way to his plotted torture of Christians … Jesus introduced Himself to Saul (Paul) and said “I am Jesus whom thou persecutest” … Saul was then blinded for three days and did not eat or drink anything.

Now here is the part of interest … Jesus went to a man named Ananias in a vision and told him to go and heal Saul’s eyes. But Ananias questioned the Lord. Here is what Ananias responded:

Acts 9:13-14
Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

Did you notice that even tho Ananias was being addressed BY THE LORD, he still questioned the Lord?

It was because Ananias knew of Saul’s past and fear, anger and doubt blinded Him even to the Word of His Lord …

Here is what Jesus said in response to Ananias …

Acts 9:15-16
But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

DESPITE what Ananias believed about Saul (Paul) due to his past and Ananias’ resulting anger, fear, doubt etc. … Jesus said … I HAVE CHOSEN HIM. As time passed other Christians feared Paul’s reputation and would have no part of him at first, but a few believed his conversion was authentic and took him in which became the stepping stone to what we have today … Most of the New Testament, which contains words we live by were written by Paul. It was this SINNER that the Lord used to bring US closer to HIM.

Is God cool or what? We must remember that God has chosen what many deem as unworthy:

1 Corinthians 1:26-28
For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are.

Please open your mind and heart for just for a minute or two as I share a thought I considered years back.

Most believe Judas Iscariot as being one that is CERTAINLY condemned to Hell, after all he did commit a most horrible act against the Lord. But I gotta ask ya ... Did not satan enter him? Was this not satan's deed performed through him? Did not Jesus prophesy that this would occur and did Judas' acts not bring forth God's plan?

Did our Lord not say upon the Cross of those who crucified Him ...

Luke 23:34
Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.

Is Judas excluded from this statement?

TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE QUESTIONS AND TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE ANSWERS

Was the man upon the Cross next to Jesus not in his last hours when He repented and was told He would be in Paradise that day?  Did not Judas repent after the devil had left him because he KNEW Jesus was Lord and saw what he had done? Was his sorrow for what he had done not so painful that he cast the money back at those who deceived him and then hung himself? Do we not ALL have the ability to repent for our sins, despite the manner of sin, and to be forgiven?  Is it ever too late?

What of these Words of Jesus?

Matthew 12:31
Wherefore I say unto you, ALL MANNER OF SIN AND BLASPHEMY shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

This passage begins with Jesus saying ... "ALL manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men" Is Judas an exception? Judas was dead by the time the Holy Spirit arrived at Pentecost in the upper room and introduced Himself to the Apostles and others. This means Judas never knew the Holy Spirit so he could not have blasphemed Him.

Did not all the Apostles fall short? Did not Peter not deny Jesus thrice? Did not all of the Apostles run in fear?

Jesus did tell the 12 Apostles including Judas at the Last Supper that they would be in Heaven with Him and judge the 12 tribes of Israel.

Luke 22:14 and 22:28-30
And when the hour was come, He sat down, and the TWELVE APOSTLES with Him
. And He said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer: For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of Me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom He is betrayed! And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as He that serveth. Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Was not Jesus talking to all twelve when He made the promise that they would all sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel?

IS JUDAS IN HELL OR IS HE IN PARADISE?

ONLY GOD KNOWS

My point is ... Before today, you may have been so very sure that Judas was sentenced to hell for his horrific acts, but the Words of Jesus Himself reveals that it MAY not be TRUTH.

Sooooooooooo, beware allowing anyone or anything to have you condemn yourself or others as well ...

As it MAY not be TRUTH.

TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE HOPE AND TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE BLESSING PROVIDING TO ERR IS HUMAN TO FORGIVE GRACE

THE TRUTH IS ...

Jesus Loves us and Forgives us our sins ... ALL manner of sins, IF we repent. ALL Christians fall. We all sin and we need only ask forgiveness and carry on.  Past Saints, are just the sinners that fell down .... And GOT UP.

At what point does the sin of others become inexcusable when we may have performed the same sin in our own lives. Is it that when WE chose to stop, that very day it became inexcusable?

So again …

Romans 8:31-33
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

When God chooses someone and is on his or her part, who can stand against them? Are they not standing against God Himself when they do so?

This brings up another question … What if we (like Ananias knew of Paul’s past) know something that someone did in the past and hear of their supposed conversion yet fear for the safety of others. Do we warn others and if so how do we do so as not to contend with others who APPEAR to be doing God’s work and if their conversion is real, we would be contending with GOD? How do we discern the matter?

This reminds me of a story in the Bible where the Apostles were brought before the Jewish religious council and were being told to stop preaching about Jesus and the apostles said: whatever, we are gonna do what God wants not what man wants and this angered the religious leaders and they were about to slay the Apostles when one of the council named Gamaliel said:

Acts 5:38-39
And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

If we come across someone who we KNOW has sinned and they APPEAR to be converted or trying to, but we still do not trust them, we need to remember Gamaliel's words … If the person in question is not REAL, their plot will not prosper in the sea of things. If God chooses to use a vessel and someone contends with that soul, even if they believe that they are are doing a God service ... They are contending with GOD.

So, it is best not to allow our own emotions to get involved as Ananias did and just trust in the Lord.

And if you are one that is being judged and really are trying to do what the Lord wants of you ... Remember this:

Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

NOTHING OR NOBODY CAN SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OUR LORD HAS FOR US OR HIS FORGIVENESS AND GRACE. Tho many would like for us to believe this about ourselves at times, due to our poor past choices resulting in sins. The Word of God ASSURES us that our Salvation is not determined by man … But rather by a merciful and Loving Father.

Of course we want to be perfect for the Lord immediately.

However ... God's timing is not our timing.

The purification of a soul is a process which takes time.

Galatians 5:5
For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by Faith.

Until we obtain the righteousness we long for ... We must remember these words:

TO ERR IS HUMAN

TO FORGIVE ... DIVINE.

Even forgiveness of ourselves as for us to carry on as to have the purification process completed.
